21.D 22.A 23.C 24.C 25.D 26.A 27.C 28.B 29.D 30.C
Passage 4

Instead of looking away, she studied Sally’s face. Sally felt nervous. 34 Maddie said, “You have a red rose on your face. How beautiful!” Sally was 35 . She looked up and saw Maddie’s smiling eyes.
When Sally got home, she looked in the 36 . For the first time, she could look at her birthmark without turning away. The 37 of it was truly like a flower. The next day, Maddie painted a red rose on her 38 face. Sally was moved. She 39 told Maddie the whole story, but she had already changed. Sally learned that everyone is special and 40 in their own way.

38.A.own B.friend’s C.mother’s D.teacher’s
39.A.already B.just C.yet D.never
40.A.same B.different C.beautiful D.ordinary
31.B 32.A 33.C 34.A 35.C 36.B 37.C 38.A 39.D 40.B
never意为“从未”;already“已经”、just“仅仅”、yet“还”,无法体现本处转折逻辑,因此填never。
Passage 5
