Passage1
Singapore is a wonderful country in Southeast Asia. It’s hot all year round, with two main seasons: a wet season with much rain and a dry season that is sunny. It doesn’t have four seasons like us, but it’s always colorful. People from the whole world love visiting it!
The dry season is usually from June to August. Singapore’s green plants look greener and nicer. Kids and adults like to go out for fun—hiking, biking, or exploring the beautiful gardens. There’s also a really cool event called the Singapore Grand Prix. It’s a Formula One car race that happens at night. People watch the race and cheer for the race drivers, making the whole city buzz with excitement. During the race weekend, there are concerts and other fun activities.
The wet season is from November to January. It’s a bit cooler, but people still have a good time. In December, the city is bright with lights, especially on Orchard Road. Gardens by the Bay looks like a magical wonderland with a fantastic light show.
Singapore has great festivals all year round. In January, the area Little India becomes lively for the Thaipusam Festival—there are colorful parades (巡游) and traditional dances. Chinese New Year is usually in January or February. Chinatown is full of beautiful lanterns and red decorations. The best part is the lively street shows and big parties. The Singapore Food Festival is in October in Mise en Place. You can taste delicious food from Singapore and around the world.
Singapore is a fantastic place to visit any time of year—there’s always something fun to do!

Passage2
Spring is a time when everything wakes up. The days get longer, flowers start to come out, and the weather turns warm. But just when you think winter is finally over—surprise! A cold wind blows in, and you need a heavy coat again. This is called “late spring coldness” or “Daochunhan” in Chinese, which means it becomes cold again in late spring.
Imagine this: warm air from the south starts moving up, and meets the cold air from the north. It makes the weather change very fast, and a sudden drop in temperature appears. You might play basketball in a T-shirt after school, but the next morning, you might feel cold and look for your winter jacket.
Doctors warn that the rapid change in temperature makes our bodies weaker and easier to get sick. That’s why you might see more classmates missing school during this time.
Want to stay healthy and enjoy the spring? Here are some tips:
Dress in layers (多层穿衣). Don’t hurry to pack away your sweaters. Keep a light jacket or sweater on hand, even on sunny mornings.
Drink up. Warm water is your best friend. Hot tea with a little honey can also help keep you warm.
Keep moving. A short run or a game of basketball gets your blood flowing and helps your body stay strong.
Fresh air matters. Open your classroom windows during breaks. It helps keep the air fresh.
Spring weather is full of surprises. By following these tips, you can stay one step ahead of the “late spring coldness” and enjoy this beautiful season!

Passage 2
(25-26七年级上·广东深圳·期中)The Autumn Equinox, called Qiufen in Chinese, is the 16th of the 24 solar terms. It comes in the middle of autumn. On this day, day and night are almost the same length. After the Autumn Equinox, nights get longer, days shorter, and the weather becomes cooler. The name Qiufen means “dividing autumn equally”, because it not only divides day and night equally but also splits autumn into two equal parts.
There are three natural signs of the Autumn Equinox. First, thunder stops. The loud thunder from summer goes away. Second, insects hide. Small animals like worms and crickets dig into the soil to keep warm for winter. Third, water goes down. Rivers and ponds have less water because there is less rain.
There are also some fun customs (习俗) on this day. One is worshipping (祭拜) the moon. Before the Mid-Autumn Festival became popular, people placed moon-shaped pastries and fruits in yards, praying for family safety and a good harvest. Another is eating autumn vegetables. People pick wild vegetables and cook them with tofu to make “autumn soup”. Farmers also put rice balls in the fields, hoping to stop birds from eating their crops.
When the Autumn Equinox arrives, farmers are busy harvesting. Rice fields turn golden, apples turn red, and persimmons look like little lanterns. It’s also called the “Chinese Farmers’ Harvest Festival”. People celebrate with joy and thank nature for the food they receive.
In short, the Autumn Equinox is a special time that teaches us about balance (平衡) and helps us enjoy the beauty of nature.
1.What happens to the length of day and night after the Autumn Equinox?
A.Day and night become the same. B.Day becomes longer than night.
C.Night becomes longer than day. D.Both day and night become shorter.

A.The same in size. B.Different from each other.
C.Changing all the time. D.Very small or little.
3.Which of the following is NOT a sign of the Autumn Equinox?
A.Thunder becomes quiet. B.Birds fly to the south.
C.Rivers have less water. D.Small animals dig into the soil.
4.Why do farmers put rice balls in the fields during the Autumn Equinox?
A.To offer food to the moon. B.To celebrate the harvest.
C.To stop birds from eating the crops. D.To celebrate the end of thunder in summer.
5.What is the main idea of the passage?
A.How to celebrate the Chinese Farmers’ Harvest Festival.
B.The meaning, natural signs, and customs of the Autumn Equinox.
C.Why days get shorter and nights get longer in autumn.
D.The different foods people eat during the Autumn Equinox.
【答案】1.C 2.A 3.B 4.C 5.B

4.根据第三段“Farmers also put rice balls in the fields, hoping to stop birds from eating their crops.”
5.根据第一段“The name Qiufen means “dividing autumn equally”, because it not only divides day and night equally but also splits autumn into two equal parts.”可知,文章第一段介绍了秋分的含义,根据二段“There are three natural signs of the Autumn Equinox.”可知,第二段介绍了自然现象;根据三段“There are also some fun customs (习俗) on this day.”
Passage 3
Just around the time when most of the snow has melted, spring comes honking back to my home in Spencerville, Ontario. It comes loudly. Canada geese don’t care if you’re sleeping or if you’re eating breakfast—they honk like crazy!
The sound is a whisper at first: honk, honk, honk, coming from the south. Then I see tiny dots, way up high. Their calls get louder: honk, honk, honk!
The dots form the letter V, moving quickly toward me in the blue sky. There are many geese flying in that V shape. The one at the front has the hardest job. When he gets tired, he moves back and another one takes a turn being the leader. They are even louder now: honk, honk, honk!
The geese fly right over me. I can see their blackheads with white chinstraps. Their long black necks stretch out like darts (飞镖). Their dark brown wings wave to me as they flap through the air. I can’t hear anything else, just honk, honk, honk!
I watch the geese touchdown in the field behind my house. Two black legs with webbed feet unfold from under their creamy white bellies. They stop flapping their wings and glide to perfect landings.
The geese are hungry after their long journey. A farmer’s field is a great place to eat and rest. They feast on bits of leftover corn in the mud and swim in large puddles (水坑) of melted snow, looking for more food. When they find something, they tip (倾斜) forward and put their head and neck right underwater to get it. The water sure looks cold to me!
More and more land until, in a few days, the field is jam-packed with noisy Canada geese. They honk to say hello to each other: honk, honk, honk, honk. They honk to warn of danger, like when my big dog Harley splashes through the puddles, ready for a game of chase! Honk. Honk. Honk. They honk because they are happy: honk, honk, honk, honk.
I watch, and I listen. The geese will be leaving in another couple of days to continue on their noisy journey north. Spring is finally here!
1.What does the underlined word “It” in Paragraph 1 refer to (指代)?
A.Time. B.Spring. C.Hometown. D.Goose.
2.Which one is the leader when Canada geese fly from the south?
A.The first one. B.The last one. C.The biggest one. D.The oldest one.
3.In Paragraph 5, what does the word “glide” mean?
A.Move fearfully. B.Move difficultly.
C.Move strangely. D.Move smoothly.
4.Why does the writer repeat the words “honk, honk, honk” throughout the text?
A.To show the readers how noisy the geese are.
B.To create a lively picture that spring is coming.
C.To show that there are only a couple of geese at the writer’s house.
D.To explain that geese are louder than other animals at the writer’s house.
5.What is the best title of the text?
A.I can hear Spring B.Farmer’s field changes
C.Birds fly from the south D.Noisy Canada geese come
1.B 2.A 3.D 4.B 5.A

根据“I watch the geese touchdown in the field behind my house. Two black legs with webbed feet unfold from under their creamy white bellies.”
根据“Just around the time when most of the snow has melted, spring comes honking back to my home in Spencerville, Ontario.”和“Canada geese don’t care if you’re sleeping or if you’re eating breakfast—they honk like crazy!”和“They honk to say hello to each other: honk, honk, honk, honk.”
通读全文并根据“Just around the time when most of the snow has melted, spring comes honking back to my home in Spencerville, Ontario.” 故选A。

Passage 5
Why Do We Have Seasons?
Have you ever wondered why we have four different seasons? 1 As the Earth travels around the sun, different parts of the planet receive different amounts of sunlight.
When the northern half of the Earth faces the sun, it gets more direct sunlight. 2 When it faces away from the sun, it gets less sunlight and experiences winter.
In some parts of the world, there are only two seasons. 3 Places near the equator are hot all year round. They have a wet season and a dry season instead.
In the Arctic and Antarctic, there are also only two seasons—a very cold winter and a less cold summer. 4 People who live near the North Pole experience months of darkness in winter and months of daylight in summer.
5 Different seasons bring different weather, activities, and traditions. Each season has its own charm.
A.The answer lies in the movement of the Earth.
B.This is why we have warmer weather and longer days in summer.
C.In the tropics, the seasons are very different.

A.To show the readers how noisy the geese are.
B.To create a lively picture that spring is coming.
C.To show that there are only a couple of geese at the writer’s house.
D.To explain that geese are louder than other animals at the writer’s house.
