UNIT 6 Plan for Yourself
读写综合(本大题分A、B两部分)
A.回答问题(★)
The start of every New Year is the perfect time for making plans to change our lives for the better.
A famous teacher says, “January 1 is a special date. It is much more helpful for us to make a resolution on January 1 than on January 26.” So we all make a list of things to stop, start or change.
However, most of the people break their resolutions by January 31. They are usually the same resolutions from last year and even earlier. The teacher says people would like to make the same resolutions year after year, even though they find it hard to achieve them.
There is a survey about making resolutions. 500 people took part in the survey. The survey shows 45% of people make a New Year’s resolution. The most common resolutions are losing weight, saving money, and getting fit. According to the survey, only 70% of people keep their resolutions for about two weeks. Six months later, less than 50% still keep their resolutions. Many people don’t have strong minds so they give up their resolutions.
But that’s okay. The best resolution is to never stop trying. Even small steps, like drinking more water or smiling often, can make a difference.
