She rescued a hare(野兔) and then they bonded
One morning, Sally Dalton, a speechwriter, was walking down a path when she heard the bark of a dog. She thought nothing of it until she came upon a baby hare 1 seemed to be struggling. The animal, no longer than the width of her hand, 2 (lie) on its stomach with its eyes open and its short, silky ears held tightly against its back. The most likely explanation for its 3 (expose) position was that it had been chased, picked up and dropped by the dog she’d heard, and had ended up lost on the track. Dalton was at a crossroads. She knew that 4 (pick) up the animal might do more harm than good, but leaving it there might lead to an equally unwelcome outcome. She picked it up.
Dalton thought she would tend to the animal’s immediate needs and then release 5 outside. But once the hare 6 (bring) inside her house, she became first its caretaker and later its protector. Hares are not meant to be pets. And Dalton never forced this hare to become one. When the hare was well enough to return to the outside world. Dalton let it go.
The hare kept coming back. Dalton left her door open 7 the animal could come and go like an adult child with a driver’s license. The loose arrangement created an unusual bond: the hare became so comfortable in Dalton’s home that it gave birth 8 baby hares behind a curtain in her study.
Dalton and the hare learned to respect each other’s boundaries, which allowed them 9 (coexist) peacefully. And it was difficult for Dalton not to see admirable human qualities in her woolly housemate: patience, dignity, calm and strength among them.
These qualities are in conflict with 10 the hare is typically described in children’s literature. Think, for instance, if the animal’s overconfidence in Aesop’s The Tortoise and the Hare. Dalton’s story is a deep dive into the biology of the animal and an insightful look at its role in the animal-human world.

故填that/which。
主语 the animal是单数,所以填was lying。故填was lying。
故填it。
故填was brought。
故填in order that。
故填to。
固定用法allow sb./sth. to do sth.,意为 “允许某人/某物做某事”,因此填动词不定式to coexist。故填to coexist。
故填how。

The Lights of Aurora
On the night of 2 September 1859, the dark sky over Europe and North America was suddenly full of light. The light did not come from the sun or the moon — and it had a strange colour. The light moved across the sky, 1 (come) and going, like clouds in a strong wind. In the United States, a man in Boston was using the telegraph to speak to a man in Portland, 160 km away. They both turned off the electricity for the telegraph, but 2 could still speak to each other for the next two hours. The electricity was coming from the light in the sky. How was this possible? And what was the light in the sky?
The light is called the aurora. Usually, you can see it only at the very north of the earth, 3 it is called aurora borealis or Northern Lights, or at the very south, where it is the aurora australis or Southern Lights. But in 1859, something happened in the sun — a very large storm — and it moved the aurora across the middle of the earth. We do not think that his ever happened before 1859, and we know that it 4 (not happen) since then.
Why does the aurora happen? And why can we only see it at the top or bottom of the earth? The aurora is made by something 5 (call) the ‘solar wind’ (wind from the sun). We cannot see this wind, or touch it. It is a wind of particles that travel away from the sun all the time at about 400 kilometres a second. Most of the particles never touch the earth. The earth has a kind of ‘wall’ around it that defends it 6 these particles. This wall is called the earth's magnetic field, and it pushes the particles away on either side. But the earth's magnetic field has two ‘windows’ in it: the magnetic north, and the magnetic south. At these places, the earth's magnetic field turns down into the earth. And some of the particles from the solar wind come through these magnetic ‘windows’. These solar particles crash into the particles that are already in our sky. And 7 this happens, we see the beautiful lines or clouds of light of the aurora.
Alaska is a good place 8 (see) the aurora borealis, and you can also go to places like Iceland, Siberia, the north of Greenland, Norway, Sweden, and Scotland. To see the aurora australis, go to the south of Australia, Tasmania, or New Zealand.
People travel thousands of kilometres to see the aurora, and they can never be sure 9 it will happen. But 10 does see it says that they will never forget it.
1. aurora /ɔːˈrɔːrə/n. 极光
2. particle /ˈpɑːtɪkl/n.
3. magnetic /mæɡˈnetɪk/adj.
4. aurora borealis北极光
5. aurora australis南极光
6. solar wind
7. magnetic field 磁场
8. defend … against … 免受……
9. crash into 撞击……
1.coming 2.they 3.where 4.has not happened 5.called 6.against 7.when/as 8.to see 9.whether/if 10.whoever
根据句子结构,该句缺主语,结合前面的“They both turned off the electricity for the telegraph,”可知,后半句的主语也为“they”,故填they。
空处引导定语从句,先行词为the very north of the earth,关系词在定语从句中作地点状语,关系副词为where。故填where。
本段一开始提到“Why does the aurora happen? (为什么会发生极光?)”,可知本段解释了极光是如何发生的,那么此处说的应是“当这种情况发生时,我们就会看到美丽的极光线或云”,用when或as引导时间状语从句,故填when/as。
8.考查动词不定式。句意:阿拉斯加是观赏北极光的好地方。根据句子谓语动词is判定空格处提示动词是非谓语动词结构,而此处考查的是句式:(It+is+a/an+名词+to+do+sth.),故填to see。

The Spread of Disease
Traveling from one city to another can lead to the spread of disease. When people arrive in a new place, they may bring in bacteria that 1 present in the past. The people there have no natural protection 2 these new bacteria, so they catch the disease more easily. 3 it is unfamiliar, health workers may not identify it or stop it from spreading. People with the disease may continue to have contact with others. In this way, the bacteria travel from person to person through the population. This was 4 happened, for example, when soldiers travelled back home at the end of the First World War. These soldiers brought with them the Spanish flu, and 5 cost millions of lives.
Heating and cooling systems in buildings can also be a source of disease. Take old air conditioners in windows as an example. They tend to collect dirt and water, which makes it easy for bacteria 6 (grow). Then when the air conditioner 7 (turn) on, the bacteria will be blown into the home or office and make people sick. Bacteria grow fast in the water of the cooling towers. They are then sent throughout the building with the air conditioning and can affect anyone in the building. Scientists first recognized this problem in July 1976, by 8 time 221 people had become seriously ill.
Pollution of the oceans can also be a factor in spreading disease. The pollution may be caused by fertilizers that wash into rivers and then into the ocean, or by human waste 9 (dump) directly into the ocean with no processing. These pollutants result in the increased growth of tiny plants that are called algae. They can form a thick mass in the water, 10 (provide) a perfect environment for cholera, a fatal disease.

Some people say that the wheel is the single most important invention. Early examples from about 5000 years ago have been found in the forests of Europe. Around 1500 years later, the Phoenicians used sand, limestone and sodium carbonate to produce 3 else which we would be lost without — glass.

故填after。
故填is used。

句中的this指代的上一句内容we spend a lot of time checking how much time we have left,根据常识,查看时间需要用到时钟或者手表,没有时钟或手表将不可能查看时间,因此设空处应填介词without。故填without。
故填which。

The Ball Game of Mesoamerica
The sport known simply as the Ball Game was popular across Mesoamerica and played by all the major civilizations from the Olmecs to the Aztecs. The impressive stone courts became a staple feature of acity’s sacred complex and there were often several playing courts in a single city. 1 it is more than just a game, the event could have a religious significance and featured in episodes of Mesoamerican mythology. The contests even supplied candidates for human sacrifice, for the sport could, quite literally, be a game of life or death.
The game 2 (invent) sometime in the Preclassical Period (2500 — 100 BCE), probably by the Olmec, and became a common Mesoamerican-wide feature of the urban landscape by the Classical Period (300 — 900 CE). Eventually, the game was even exported to other cultures in North America and the Caribbean.
In Mesoamerican mythology the game is an important element in the story of the Maya gods Hun Hunahpú and Vucub Hunahpú. The pair annoyed the gods of the underworld with their noisy playing and the two brothers were tricked into descending into Xibalba (the underworld) 3 they were challenged to a ball game. 4 (lose) the game Hun Hunahpús had his head cut off; a foretaste of 5 would become common practice for players unfortunate enough to lose a game.
In 6 legend, a famous ball game was held at the Aztec capital of Tenochtitlan 7 the Aztec king Motecuhzoma Xocoyotzin (r. 1502—1520 CE) and the king of Texcoco. The latter 8 (predict) that Motecuhzoma’s kingdom would fall and the game was set-up 9 (establish) the truth of this bold prediction. Motecuhzoma lost the game and did, of course, lose his kingdom at the hands of the invaders from the Old World. The story also supports the idea 10 the ball game was sometimes used for the purposes of divination.

“it is more than just a game” 和 “the event could have a religious significance and featured in episodes of Mesoamerican mythology” 之间存在让步关系。“Although/Though/While” 都可以引导让步状语从句,意思是 “虽然,尽管”,用来连接这两个具有让步关系的句子。首字母大写。故填Although/Though/While。
根据时间状语 “sometime in the Preclassical Period (2500—100 BCE)” 可知,动作发生在过去,所以要用一般过去时的被动语态,其结构为 “was/were + 过去分词”,主语 “the game” 是单数,所以用 “was invented”。故填was invented。
先行词是 “Xibalba (the underworld)”,在从句 “they were challenged to a ball game” 中作地点状语,关系副词 为where 。故填where。
故填what。
故填another。
“between” 表示 “在…… 之间(两者)”,常用于 “between...and...” 结构中。故填between。
故填to establish。
“the idea” 后面的 “the ball game was sometimes used for the purposes of divination” 是对 “the idea” 的具体内容的解释说明,是一个同位语从句。 故填that。
(2019·上海·6月高考真题)Directions: After reading the passages below, fill in the blanks to make the passages coherent and grammatically correct. For the blanks with a given word, fill in each blank with the proper form of the given word; for the other blanks, use one word that best fits each blank.

故填were deposited。
去掉it is和空处,剩下的成分可以构成完整的句子,可知此处为强调句“it is/was+被强调部分+that+其他”,被强调部分为人时,可用who替换that,此处被强调部分为on the same beach where they were born,应用that。故填that。
故填being damaged。
故填have reduced。
故填by。

A comprehensive study of 4,500 children conducted by the National Institutes of Health in 2018 shows that children who spent more than seven hours a day staring at screens showed evidence of premature thinning of their brain's cortex一the outer layer that processes sensory information. "We don't know if it 1 (cause) by the screen time. We don't know yet if it's a bad thing. It won't be until we follow them over time 2 we will see if there are outcomes that are associated with the differences that we're seeing in this single snapshot, Dr. Gaya Dowling. uWhat we can say is that this is 3 the brains look like of kids who spend a lot of time on screens. And it's not just one pattern."
The problem isn't just screens 4 , but also the way screens tempt kids (and adults) away from something far more important: physical activity. More than 23 percent of adults and 80 percent of adolescents don't get enough physical activity, and according to a 2019 report from the World Health Organization (WHO) , these patterns of activity and rest arise 5 habits we develop early in life. uWhat we really need to do is 6 (bring) back play for children," says Dr. Juana Willumsen, a WHO specialist in childhood obesity and physical activity, in a statement about new WHO guidelines issued in April 2019. “ This is about making the shift from sedentary time to playtime, while 7 (protect) sleep. Of course, children aren't completely to blame for their screen addiction.
Sometimes, the parents 8 complain about the role of screens in family life are just as guilty of spending too much time in front of one. A 2016 study 9 (conduct) by Common Sense Media found that parents spend up to nine hours a day in front of screens, mostly not for work-related reasons. While 78 percent of parents said they believed they were good screen time role models, the study found a disconnect between their behavior and their perception of their behavior. Parents need to limit screen time for themselves and especially for their kids一 10 it means playing the bad guy. Our mental and physical health depends on it.

My Kid-Free Life
I had expected to have more free time after my sons, Evan and Alex, each left for college and I do. The kitchen calendar looks spare. Rarely 1 I need to prepare family dinner every day. There is a lot 2 (little) laundry.
When the boys were infants, I wondered how I 3 (spend) all the hours before they were born. 4 I have those hours back, I can focus on my own needs.

Do I miss them? Yes. Both more and less than I’d guessed. Do I feel united for having lost my primary role in life? No, because over the year, I took great pride 6 the fact that my identity was not dependent on theirs. But, surprisingly, yes. 7 (be) a different kind of mother defines me now.
The missing comes at unexpected moments: seeing the school bus drive by, starting to put too many plates on the table… When they have doubts about friendships or job prospects, I can only say, “I’m sure you will figure it out.”
And yet, the spaces 8 (empty) by loss are more than filled by what I’ve found. I now have the chance 9 (see) them as the whole world does but also like no one else ever will. As adults I happened to help create.

He has a constant urge 1 (check) for next messages; he checks his phone every five minutes! He’s so addicted to it that he just can’t stand the idea 2 there may be an important text. He can’t help checking even at inappropriate times like when we are eating in a restaurant and I am talking to him! He behaves 3 any small amount of boredom can make him feel the need to check his phone even when he know he shouldn’t. The temptation to see 4 is connecting him is just too great. When I ask him to put down the phone and stop 5 (ignore) me, he say, “In a minute.” but still checks to see if 6 has posted something new on the Internet. Our life 7 (interrupt). If we go somewhere and I ask him to have the phone at home, he suffers from withdrawal symptom. May this dependency on his smart phone has become more than an everyday problem.
I recently read an article about “nomophobia,” 8 is a real illness people can’t suffer from the fear of being without your phone! I am worried that Sam maybe suffering from this illness because he feels anxious if he doesn’t have his phone with him, even for a short time.
Who would have thought that little devices like these could have brought so much trouble!

名词“urge”意为“冲动”,其后跟不定式作后置定语,have an urge to do sth. 故填to check。
故填that。
空格处意为“好像”,是as if/as though,引导方式状语从句。故填as if/as though。

故填has been interrupted/is being interrupted/is interrupted。
故填which。

Gift from a stranger
My local supermarket is always busy. The first parking space I found was convenient, but I’d noticed a woman in a blue car circling for a while. 1 I was in a good mood, I let her have it. On the edge of the car park I backed into the next available spot—it was a tight fit.

根据“I was in a good mood, I let her have it”可知,前后句子构成一种因果的关系,所以答案为Because。

由“You helped those people, I noticed, and you seemed so happy”可知,那位女士觉得作者跟自己的妈妈很像,都那么爱帮助人,句子表示“你太像她了”,空格处是“像”,是like,故填like。
空格处作状语,由上文的“I think she would like you to have it”可知,句子表示“非常震惊,我自动从她手中接过。”
nice的最高级是the nicest,故填the nicest。

How to Start a New Business
An entrepreneur is a person who creates, launches, and begins a new business, typically in response to a market demand that has not been met. Entrepreneurs are often imaginative, self-motivated individuals who develop full-time, successful, and sustainable businesses. Successful entrepreneurs frequently have relevant insights, expertise, and advice they may offer aspiring entrepreneurs to aid 1 on their respective paths. Interviewing entrepreneurs might provide insight into the steps they took 2 (achieve) success. Here is the interview of entrepreneur-related questions, and you will find more preparations for it.
Question: How would you describe an entrepreneur?
Answer: An individual who establishes and expands their own company through innovative strategies 3 (know) as an entrepreneur. During the expansion of their companies, entrepreneurs are responsible for several important tasks in addition to cash generation. An entrepreneur perceives a commercial need in their society, 4 (develop) an idea for a business, and then takes the initiative to start their firm. Suppose a business idea does not center on producing a product that fills a gap in the 5 (exist) market. In that case, it most often centers on applying technical advancements to simplify the process of obtaining a product or service.
Question: How do entrepreneurs identify business prospects?
Answer: Entrepreneurs routinely seek chances to expand or increase their company's revenues. They determine which product to include and which market to enter. An entrepreneur should listen to prospective customers and look for chances to build items that meet their demands. An entrepreneur can determine 6 other businesses in the area are doing and how they succeed by conducting a competitive analysis. This technique may involve conducting a physical survey or reading industry-specific materials. Conversations with consumers also facilitate the identification of their frustrations and negative experiences, 7 they may use to enhance a firm.
Question: What makes an entrepreneur successful?
Answer: 8 an entrepreneur, you are both your manager and the manager of others. To achieve success, you must possess a wide range of abilities. An entrepreneur must be able to manage people, a budget, operations, and in certain cases, investors. It necessitates a work style 9 (characterize) by multitasking and planning for the firm's short-and long-term goals. 10 successful entrepreneur must be able to spend his time wisely, regularly analyzing and prioritizing projects based on their relevance and significance. It includes engaging in short-and long-term planning, economic forecasts, and market research.

Why Being in a Band Is Cool
When you were younger, a piano lesson may have ruined your day. Carrying a flute (长笛) from class to class just for a half-hour lesson 1 have seemed pointless. But as you enter the adult world suddenly you realize that knowing how to play an instrument is pretty cool. Yes, even the flute.
So, what makes being in a band so cool? Is it because you get to go on stage and play to millions of adoring fans? Well, yes, but it’ll be a few years before your dodgy rendition of ‘Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star’ starts to resemble a Mozart symphony.
2 talented you’ve been in music it’s still not easy to organize a band, but here’s a quick guide to get you started:
1) Find your members.
You’ll need a drummer, a guitarist, a bass guitarist and a singer. Any other instruments are a bonus. This is where 3 (play) the flute comes in, if you can make playing the flute cool, you deserve all the fame and fortune in the world!
2) Organize a band practice.
If you are lucky enough to have a band member 4 a drum kit and parents who are hard of hearing, you can practise at home for free. Otherwise, you’ll need to find a local studio 5 can be expensive. 6 (divide) the cost equally, including the cost of hiring any equipment such as cymbals for the drummer, you rock together, you roll together !
3) Be productive.
If you’re paying for a studio, the last thing you want is to spend it catching up with each other, so meet half an hour in advance to get all the chatting 7 (finish). 4) Agree on songs to learn, and learn them!
Each band member should choose a song for the whole band 8 (learn) ready for rehearsal. This will allow you to see 9 genres (类型) work for your group.
(5) Start writing.
Once you know what music works for you, start writing! You can do this individually or as a band but the most important thing is to respect other people’s songs. It’s very rare to find 10 who isn’t shy about sharing their first few pieces of writing, so be nice!
If that sounds like a lot of hard work, then you’re right! If it also sounds like a lot of fun, get stated! But what is it that makes all that hard work worth it?
Being in a band teaches you precious life lessons. It is a fun way of learning about how to share opinions respectfully, be creative, become more confident and work as a team. Once you can do that you’ll be well on your way to finding what it is about you that makes you unique, special and cool!

One of the earliest-known inventions is the bow and arrow, which is still used throughout the world today, 15,000 years 1 it was first invented. Of course, these days, the bow and arrow 2 (use) mainly in sporting events, but in some places it is still a means of killing animals for food.
In western Asia, another extremely important invention was born — the ability to produce pots. As long as 6500 years ago, people were producing pottery, mostly plain and without designs, but the technique has changed little since.
Some people say that the wheel is the single most important invention. Early examples from about 5000 years ago have been found in the forests of Europe. Around 1500 years later, the Phoenicians used sand, limestone and sodium carbonate to produce 3 else which we would be lost without — glass.
How many things do you lock with a key every day? Doors, cupboards? The car? We really don’t think much about them, 4 we? Well, the first example of a lock and key dates back to 2750 years ago, in Assyria. This is a lock on a large wooden door in the palace of Sargon II.
Another amazing invention, which we probably take for granted these days, is the skill of knitting 5 first appeared in the Roman Empire, some 1700 years ago. The 6 (early) examples are knitted socks!
Eye glasses developed from just one lens in a frame, like a simple magnifying glass, way back in the 13th century. In about 1290, the idea to put two lenses in a frame to sit on the nose was developed in Florence. And, believe it or not, the modern contact lens is 120 years old!
Time flies and we spend a lot of time 7 (check) how much time we have left! This would be impossible 8 clocks and watches, 9 are all around us: on walls, on our wrists, on our PCs, and even on our mobiles and iPods.

Millions of Baby Olive Ridley Turtles Emerge in Orissa
Nature is full of wonders. In 1 is one of the most breathtaking sights in nature millions of baby Ridley turtles broke out of their eggshells under the sand at one of their mass nesting grounds in Orissa. The baby turtles started their journey towards the Bay of Bengal 2 they emerged from their nest in the southern district of Ganjam, about 175 km from Bhubaneswar.
Orissa is the home to three mass nesting sites of the Oliver turtles, a species 3 (threaten) with extinction, and one of the sites, Gahirmatha, 4 around 70 to 80 million turtles lay eggs on the beach every year, is considered one of the world’s largest nesting sites.

The baby turtles emerge from the eggs after 45—60 days, then the babies grow without their mother, which is a rare phenomenon in nature. Interestingly, it is on the same beach where they were born 7 the females lay their eggs.
In the recent years, sea erosion has led to many turtles’ nest 8 (damage) or destroyed. Also, some fierce animals such as dogs and birds 9 (reduce) the number of nesting turtles. And of course man has also had a negative impact 10 using engine-powered fishing boats near the turtles’ nesting grounds.

Start with the end and work backwards
When Jason Hoelscher was an undergraduate of fine art studies, there weren’t any professional development classes. So ambition and the timely realization 1 he would have to determine “what’s next” on his own urged Jason to engage his future self to find direction. It was 1996, and he was finishing his BFA (Bachelor of Fine Art) in Denver. He was faced with the choice of sitting back to wait for something 2 (happen), or pursuing a path into the unknown. He chose the latter.
Jason set up a plan that in five years he 3 (show) his work in the top gallery in that area of the country. This five-year goal gave him a starting point 4 which to work backwards.
By setting the goal, all of Jason’s efforts 5 (point) in the same direction. He showed up at different art show openings, and researched as best he could to make 6 familiar with the market environment.
As a result of showing up, Jason took opportunities 7 got him closer to his goal. He sent work to a student show and was accepted by Robin Rule, the owner of Rule Gallery. 8 (inspire), Jason spent the next month making new work.

I had also expected to worry about them when they were away. And I do. Did they get their flu shots (流感疫苗注射)?Will they remember the talks about “good choices”? On the other hand, the worry is mixed with relief. I have seen 5 vigorously they grow without me.
The rooms 10 the boys used to live look vacant. I feel sadness but also joy. I knew they would leave, but they will find their way back.
My home is empty. But overflowing.

Bags of Love
Last year, I was assigned to work at an office near my mother’s house, so I stayed with her for a month. During that time, I helped out with the housework and contributed to the groceries.
After less than a week, I started noticing that the groceries were running out pretty quickly — we were always suddenly out of something. 1 (wonder) how my mum could consume them so quickly, I began observing her daily routine for two weeks. To my surprise, I found that she would pack a paper bag full of canned goods and head out every morning at about nine. Eventually, I decided to follow her and 2 happened truly amazed me. She was taking the food to the refugee camp, in 3 she distributed it to children.
I asked around and found out that my mum was very well known in the area. The kids were very friendly with her and even looked up to her as if she were their own mother. Then it hit me —why would she not want to tell me about what she 4 (do)? Was she worried about how I would react or that I would stop 5 (buy) the groceries if I found out?
When she got home, I told her about my discovery. 6 she could react, I gave her a big hug and told her she didn’t need to keep it a secret 7 me. She told me that some of the children lived with an older lady in a shelter while others slept on the streets. For years, my mum has been helping out by giving them whatever food she could spare. Stress: Good or Bad?
Stress used to be an almost unknown word, but now that we are used to talking about it, I have found that people are beginning to get stressed about being stressed.
In recent years, stress 1 (regard) as a cause of a whole range of medical problems, from high blood pressure to mental illness. But like so many other things, it is only too much stress 2 does you harm. It is time you considered that if there were no stress in your life, you would achieve a little. If you are stuck at home with no stress, then your level of performance will be low. Up to a certain point, the more stress you are under, the 3 (good) your performance will be. Beyond a certain point, though , further stress will only lead to exhaustion, illness and finally a breakdown. You can tell when you are over the top and on the downward slope, by asking yourself 4 number of questions. Do you, for instance, feel that too much is being expected of 5 , and yet find it impossible to say no? Do you find yourself getting impatient or 6 (annoy) with people over unimportant things?... If the answer to all those questions is yes, you had better 7 (control ) your stress, as you probably are under more stress than is good for you.
To some extent you can control the amount of stress in your life. Doctors have worked out a chart showing how much stress is involved in various events. Getting married is 50, pregnancy 40, moving house 20, Christmas 12,etc. If the total stress in your life is over 150, you are twice as likely 8 (get ) ill.

Ask helpful Hannah
Dear helpful Hannah,
I’ve got a problem with my husband, Sam. He bought a smart phone a couple of months ago and he took it on our recent ski vacation to Colorado, it was a great trip except for one problem.

Gift from a stranger
My local supermarket is always busy. The first parking space I found was convenient, but I’d noticed a woman in a blue car circling for a while. 1 I was in a good mood, I let her have it. On the edge of the car park I backed into the next available spot—it was a tight fit.
Pretty soon I’d made my way through the supermarket and was back in the fresh air. Feeling good, I 2 (empty) my purse change into the hands of a homeless man and helped a struggling woman reverse park (倒车).
Just as I approached my car, I saw the woman I’d let have my car space earlier. She was giving me 3 odd look—half puzzled, half intent (热切的). I smiled and wished her a pleasant day. As I squeezed back into my car, I spotted the same lady 4 (look) in at me. “Hello,” she said, hesitantly. “This 5 sound crazy but I was on my way to drop some of my mother’s things off at the charity bins. After graduation from university, I had been unable to secure a permanent job in my small town. The giant vending machine (自动售货机) is a new village shop
Villagers have long been used to facing a drive when they run out of basic supplies. However, help is now nearer at hand in form of the country’s first automatic push-button shop.
