The retrospective will take visitors on a virtual tour to the very moment 150 years ago. During the 40-minute immersive (沉浸的) tour, visitors will spend a virtual evening with the famous impressionists and travel by steam train to Bougival, west of Paris, where many of them worked. Visitors will then tour the main exhibition, which opens into a gallery with Renoir’s La Parisienne and La Danseuse that featured in the 1874 exhibition, and other impressionist paintings, drawings and sculptures. “The immersive experience is unique and innovative. You can go into this exhibition and relive the evening with the artists and discover the origin of this movement. We want to recreate the emotion for visitors of the 1874 exhibition.” said Abastado, director of digital development at the Musée d’Orsay. Guidelines: * The experience is suitable for children of 11 y/o and above; children under 8 y/o are prohibited. * We remind you that, in view of the technology used, virtual reality experiences are not recommended for people with balance or vision disorders. * Walkers and motorized wheelchairs are not permitted in the space, but manual wheelchairs are accepted. 1. What’s the retrospective mainly aimed at? A. Protecting cultural diversity. B. Fueling people’s love for art. C. Showing honor to late artists. D. Marking the birth of a movement. 2. What can be experienced during the virtual tour? A. Painting a picture on the spot. B. Driving a steam train in person. C. Meeting famous impressionists. D. Staying overnight in the gallery. 3. Who is the most suitable to visit the exhibition? A. An eight-year-old boy. B. An adult with a walker. C. A visually-challenged girl. D. A teenager in a manual wheelchair. B Eight-year-old S. Hariraj is a Foldscope devotee. He’s used it to examine the milk from his family’s cows. Though the milk looks creamy, the Foldscope reveals a world of microorganisms. “It has to be boiled and cooled before we can drink it,” he realized. This incredible device is no ordinary microscope. Made from waterproof, tear-resistant paper, it comes in a small bag with parts that can be attached in minutes. Magnets (磁铁) hold it together, and a tiny lens (透镜) allows it to enlarge objects up to 140 times. Once built, it’s no larger than a bookmark, small enough to slip into a pocket. And the best part? It costs just $2 to produce, and millions of children in low-income countries get them for free. The idea for the Foldscope began with Manu Prakash, a professor at Stanford University, who grew up in India. As a sixth grader, he and his classmates failed to draw a microscope in a test-none of them had ever seen one. Microscopes were expensive, and not all schools could afford a well-equipped lab. “The spirit of exploration was critical to the study of science,” says Prakash. “But in order to develop that spirit, you need the right tools.” Determined to change the situation, Prakash spent years experimenting, even borrowing lenses from his brother’s glasses. In 2014, he and his Ph.D. student finally developed the Foldscope, using paper-folding techniques to create an alternative to traditional microscopes. Young Hariraj encountered the Foldscope at Eden School in southern India, where it has transformed science lessons. Children eagerly rush outdoors, searching for ants, flowers, and leaves to examine. “I just love the look of amazement when kids look into the Foldscope,” says Indira Pandiarajan, the school principal. “When their eyes light up, I know that’s the moment they will accept science enthusiastically and learning for the rest of their lives.” 4. Why does the author mention Hariraj in paragraph 1? A. To introduce his hobby. B. To describe his family life. C. To explain milk’s components. D. To show Foldscope’s practical use. 5. What is a feature of the Foldscope according to the text? A. It is user-friendly. B. It is magnetic-resistant. C. It is intended for book lovers. D. It provides step-by-step instructions. 6. What does paragraph 3 mainly talk about? A. The importance of scientific tools. B. The challenge of studying science. C. The impact of technical cooperation. D. The creation of an affordable microscope. 7. Which statement would Indira Pandiarajan probably agree with? A. Scientific spirit unites researchers in India. B. The Foldscope facilitates science learning. C. The Foldscope eases teaching workload. D. Scientific spirit fuels headmasters’ enthusiasm. C When put to tests, bees have long proved that they’ve got a lot more to offer than pollinating (授粉), making honey and being loyal to a queen. The hard-working insects can change their behavior when things seem difficult, and now some scientists find there is proof that they also like to play. Scientists from Queen Mary University of London performed an experiment, in which they set up a container that allowed bees to travel from their nest to a feeding area. But along the way, the bees could choose to pass through a separate section with some small wooden balls. Over 18 days, the scientists watched as the bees “went out of their way to roll wooden balls repeatedly, despite no apparent incentive (刺激) to do so.” Earlier studies have shown that the black and yellow bugs are willing to learn new tricks in exchange for food or other rewards. In this case, to get rid of external factors, scientists made sure the bees had adapted to their new home and that their environment was stress-free. The finding suggests that like humans, insects also interact with objects as a form of play. Also similar to people, younger bees seem to be more playful than adult bees. “This research provides a strong indication that insect minds are far more complicated than we imagine. There are lots of animals who play just for the purpose of enjoyment, but most examples come from young mammals and birds,” said Lars Chittka, a professor of sensory and behavioral ecology at Queen Mary University of London, who led the study. The study’s first author. Samadi Galpay, who is a PhD student at Queen Mary University of London, states that it is more evident that bees may be capable of experiencing feelings. “They may actually experience some kind of positive emotional states, even if basic, like other larger animals do. This finding has effects on our understanding of the sense and welfare of insects, which, consequently, encourages us to respect and protect wildlife on Earth ever more,” she says. 8. What is the new finding about bees? A. They are fond of having fun. B. They are faithful to the queen. C. They are adaptable to changes D. They are skilled at rolling balls. 9. How did scientists remove external influences in the experiment? A. By teaching bees new tricks. B. By rewarding bees with food. C. By making bees feel at home. D. By building new homes for bees 10. What are Lars Chittka’s words mainly about? A. The forms of bees’ interaction. B. The complexity of bees’ minds. C. The examples of mammals’ play. D. The purpose of mammals’ enjoyment. 11. What does Samadi Galpay say about the study result? A. It backs up prior understanding of insects. B. It reveals reasons for bees’ positive feelings. C. It drives research on animals’ emotional state. D. It contributes to wildlife conservation on Earth. D Everyone knows what makes a good story. Our hero starts their journey as a flawed being. In scene after scene, they face challenges that push them down new paths. By the end of the talc, they overcome setbacks and become a better person in the process. We love these plots in the novels we read but the principles of a good story offer much more than entertainment. Recent research shows that the narratives we tell ourselves about our lives can powerfully help us recover from stress. People who generate tales of struggling and turning over a new leaf from their own lives appear to have much better mental health. Professor Dan McAdams put forward this idea and discovered that whether someone can describe having had some control over events in their past is an important predictor of mental health. Another key theme involved is finding some kind of positive meaning after stressful events. McAdams invited 14 and 15-year-olds to join in an experiment to write about their experiences of failure and success. Half of them were then given extra instructions to describe the ways they had made their success a reality and how the failure had changed them for the better. Eight weeks later, members of this group reported greater persistence and better grades in their schoolwork. Exciting as these results are, some experts sound a few notes of caution. They worry that, hearing about the power of self-narratives, many people may feel they have to find a positive turning point in life. If they can’t, they could end up feeling guilty about having somehow “failed”. Clearly, self-narratives aren’t the panacea. Nevertheless, if you hope for self-improvement, you can use the findings to good effect. By recognizing ourselves as the hero at the center of our own struggles, we can all become the author of our own destiny and change ourselves for the better. 12. What does the research focus on? A. The causes of stress. B. The principles of narrative. C. The connection between struggle and well-being. D. The link between mental health and self-narratives. 13. Why is the experiment mentioned in paragraph 3? A. To give proof. B. To make predictions. C. To draw a conclusion. D. To make comparisons. 14. What does the underlined word “panacea” in the last paragraph refer to? A. Attempt to get rid of worries. B. Means of recognizing yourself. C. Solution to adolescent problems. D. Guarantee to become better people. 15. Which of the following can be the best title for the text? A. Embrace Life Struggles B. Be Your Own Hero C. Ways to Make a Good Story D. The Power of Self-improvement Parents worry endlessly about their children’s screen time, urging them to put down their phones and pick up a book. Some countries are banning social media for under-16s. ____16____ The most screen-addicted generation is actually the elderly, with retirees spending more than half their waking hours on smartphones. The digitization of old age is a good thing. Social media and video calls keep the elderly connected with family, friends and doctors. A connected retirement is more fulfilling than an offline one. ____17____ They’ve formed their key relationships, and their world view is less open to unhealthy online influences. Besides, with plenty of free time, a screen habit costs a retiree far less than a teenager facing exams. ____18____ Door-to-door tricksters who have long targeted the elderly can now reach them through the screen. Misinformation is another risk. Older people appear more likely to fall for online falsehoods, and when misled it is everyone’s problem, because they are the most likely to vote. Screen time also has a mixed impact on loneliness. Screens are companions for the isolated, but they can also replace real life. Online shopping avoids the trouble of the weekly trip — but also the social interactions that come with it. ____19____ Unlike teenagers, they lack the parents and teachers to guide their screen use. Older people’s rocketing screen time should at least make for a more balanced debate on digital matters. Universal smartphone use should make it easier to have sensible conversations about trade-offs. When children are told yet again to get off their phones, they can cast a meaningful glance at Grandpa in the corner. ____20____ A. This worry may be aimed at the wrong age group. B. As retirement moves online, however, there are costs. C. He is probably laughing at the latest videos on social media. D. Older screen users rarely fall for online tricks like the young. E. Older people are also protected from some risks that threaten teenagers. F. For those with limited mobility, the pull of the sofa is especially strong. G. Yet the benefits of elderly screen use come with multiple financial risks. One rainy Saturday, I stood at the door of my father’s study. He was just adopted by my parents recently. I was not in the mood for being onstage with him. “Kristie, come here,” my mom called. Following her voice, I found her outside the bathroom, holding a wet book. She gave the book a shake. “Henry’s book was in the bathtub. Did you put it there?” She glared at me — something she never did before Henry came to our home. I didn’t wet his book on purpose. Tears of hurt clouded my eyes. Worse still, she promised to buy him a new copy. My heart ached. Henry was stealing my mother’s love. He was ruining my life. Meanwhile, Henry was just nearby, absorbed in working on a complicated rope knot (绳结) as usual. Why did a boy like him do the girly work? Far from manly! Soon, it was time to have to set off for the community theatre. As Henry walked ahead of us to the car, my mom took me aside and said in a low voice, “It’s the first time for Henry to be onstage. Be kind to him. Honey.” I nodded but sighed. Being kind didn’t use to be hard. But after Henry moved in, everything felt different. The theatre used to be a special place for my parents and me. With Henry involved, it didn’t seem so special any more. Finally, it was our stage time. My heart beat wildly. I forgot my annoyance at Henry for a while. As we kids lined up, ready to act out our short play, I realized how loosely I had tied the drawstring (束带) on my skirt. Sure enough, my skirt began to drop. Laughter from the audience could be heard, and even though I was wearing shorts under my skirt, I could feel my face burst into flames. However, my hands were full. If only someone could help me out! Right then, Henry sensed my embarrassment. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ After the performance, I found Henry and tapped him on the arm gratefully. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 福州一中2027届高三第一学期第一次质量检测 英语学科试卷 (完卷120分钟 满分150分) 2026年08月27日 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面5段录音。 1. 4. D 5. A 6. D 7. 根据最后一段““I just love the look of amazement when kids look into the Foldscope,” says Indira Pandiarajan, the school principal. “When their eyes light up, I know that’s the moment they will accept science enthusiastically and learning for the rest of their lives.” C When put to tests, bees have long proved that they’ve got a lot more to offer than pollinating (授粉), making honey and being loyal to a queen. A 9. C 10. B 11. 根据第一段中“The hard-working insects can change their behavior when things seem difficult, and now some scientists find there is proof that they also like to play.(当事情看起来很困难时,勤劳的昆虫可以改变它们的行为,现在一些科学家发现有证据表明它们也喜欢玩耍)”可知,关于蜜蜂的新发现是它们喜欢玩乐。故选A项。 根据第三段中“In this case, to get rid of external factors, scientists made sure the bees had adapted to their new home and that their environment was stress-free.(在这种情况下,为了消除外部因素,科学家们确保蜜蜂已经适应了它们的新家,并且它们的环境没有压力)”可知,科学家通过让蜜蜂有家的感觉从而在实验中消除外部影响。 根据第四段中Lars Chittka说的“This research provides a strong indication that insect minds are far more complicated than we imagine. There are lots of animals who play just for the purpose of enjoyment, but most examples come from young mammals and birds(这项研究有力地表明,昆虫的思维远比我们想象的复杂。 根据最后一段中“This finding has effects on our understanding of the sense and welfare of insects, which, consequently, encourages us to respect and protect wildlife on Earth ever more(这一发现影响了我们对昆虫的感知和福利的理解,从而鼓励我们更加尊重和保护地球上的野生动物)”可知,该研究结果有助于保护地球上的野生动物。故选D项。 D Everyone knows what makes a good story. The Power of Self-improvement 【答案】12. D 13. A 14. D 15. 根据第二段中“Recent research shows that the narratives we tell ourselves about our lives can powerfully help us recover from stress. Half of them were then given extra instructions to describe the ways they had made their success a reality and how the failure had changed them for the better. Eight weeks later, members of this group reported greater persistence and better grades in their schoolwork.(麦克亚当斯邀请了14岁和15岁的孩子参加一个实验,写下他们失败和成功的经历。 故选A。 根据倒数第二段“Exciting as these results are, some experts sound a few notes of caution. They worry that, hearing about the power of self-narratives, many people may feel they have to find a positive turning point in life. If they can’t, they could end up feeling guilty about having somehow “failed”.(尽管这些结果令人兴奋,但一些专家提出了一些警告。 根据最后一段“Nevertheless, if you hope for self-improvement, you can use the findings to good effect. By recognizing ourselves as the hero at the center of our own struggles, we can all become the author of our own destiny and change ourselves for the better.(然而,如果你希望自我改善,你可以利用这些发现来取得好的效果。 Parents worry endlessly about their children’s screen time, urging them to put down their phones and pick up a book. A 17. E 18. B 19. F 20. 【16题详解】 根据前文“Parents worry endlessly about their children’s screen time, urging them to put down their phones and pick up a book. Some countries are banning social media for under-16s. 及后文“The most screen-addicted generation is actually the elderly, with retirees spending more than half their waking hours on smartphones. 可知,前文在讲大众对青少年儿童屏幕时间的担忧,后文转折指出其实老年人是最沉迷屏幕的群体,A选项“This worry may be aimed at the wrong age group. 【17题详解】 根据前文“The digitization of old age is a good thing. Social media and video calls keep the elderly connected with family, friends and doctors. A connected retirement is more fulfilling than an offline one. 及后文“They’ve formed their key relationships, and their world view is less open to unhealthy online influences. Besides, with plenty of free time, a screen habit costs a retiree far less than a teenager facing exams. 可知,本段在讲老年人使用网络的好处,后文解释说老年人世界观成型,沉迷屏幕的代价比年轻人低得多,E选项“Older people are also protected from some risks that threaten teenagers. 【18题详解】 根据后文“Door-to-door tricksters who have long targeted the elderly can now reach them through the screen. Misinformation is another risk. Older people appear more likely to fall for online falsehoods, and when misled it is everyone’s problem, because they are the most likely to vote. 可知,本段列举了老年人面临网络诈骗、虚假信息误导的风险,B选项“As retirement moves online, however, there are costs. 【19题详解】 根据前文“Screen time also has a mixed impact on loneliness. Screens are companions for the isolated, but they can also replace real life. Online shopping avoids the trouble of the weekly trip — but also the social interactions that come with it. 及后文“Unlike teenagers, they lack the parents and teachers to guide their screen use. 可知,前文提到屏幕会取代现实社交,后文说明老年人不像青少年有师长引导屏幕使用,F选项“For those with limited mobility, the pull of the sofa is especially strong. 【20题详解】 根据前文“Older people’s rocketing screen time should at least make for a more balanced debate on digital matters. Universal smartphone use should make it easier to have sensible conversations about trade-offs. When children are told yet again to get off their phones, they can cast a meaningful glance at Grandpa in the corner. 可知,前文提到孩子被要求放下手机时,会看到角落里的爷爷正盯着手机,C选项“He is probably laughing at the latest videos on social media. One rainy Saturday, I stood at the door of my father’s study. While recording campus moments is enjoyable, over‑filming may disturb others’ study and daily life. Besides, some students pay too much attention to videos instead of their schoolwork. In my opinion, we should behave properly when filming. First, avoid shooting without others’ permission. Second, never film in quiet areas like libraries or classrooms. What’s more, we ought to balance video‑making with our studies. Only in this way can we enjoy campus life in a polite manner. 词汇积累 喜爱:like → be fond of 令人愉快的:enjoyable → delightful 适当地:properly → appropriately 欣赏:enjoy → appreciate 2. What’s more, we ought to balance video‑making with our studies. What’s more, we ought to balance video‑making with our studies, which is of great importance to us students. 1】While recording campus moments is enjoyable, over‑filming may disturb others’ study and daily life. I was in my room, unwilling to head to the community theatre with “my brother” Henry. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Right then, Henry sensed my embarrassment. He immediately came to my aid. With a calm and steady hand, he quickly retied the drawstring on my skirt, saving me from further humiliation. “Don’t worry, I’ve got you,” he whispered, offering a reassuring smile. I felt a surge of gratitude mixed with guilt for all the negative thoughts I had harbored against him. I regretted having treated him as a stranger. While my mind was wandering, our performance time came. It turned out to be a great success, thunderous applause filling the whole theatre. After the performance, I found Henry and tapped him on the arm gratefully. “Thank you, Henry,” I said with a grateful smile on my face. I had to admit that but for his timely help, I would have been extremely embarrassed. “That’s what brothers are for,” he replied simply. At that moment, I realized how wrong I had been about him. Henry wasn’t stealing my mother’s love or ruining my life; he was becoming an integral part of our family, bringing his own strengths and kindness. As we walked back to the car, I felt a newfound bond with Henry, understanding that our differences could be a source of strength rather than division. 词汇激活 行为类: ①相助:come to one’s aid/help sb. out ②对某人怀恨在心:harbor against sb./hold a grudge against sb. ③游离:wander/stray 情感类: ①感激:gratitude/appreciation ②愧疚:guilt/remorse 【点睛】[高分句型 1] With a calm and steady hand, he quickly retied the drawstring on my skirt, saving me from further humiliation.(运用现在分词短语作结果状语) [高分句型 2] While my mind was wandering, our performance time came.(运用了while引导的时间状语从句) [高分句型 3] I had to admit that but for his timely help, I would have been extremely embarrassed.
