Your personality plays a big role in determining the kind of job that will make you happy and successful. People who are organized and detail-oriented often make good accountants, managers or lawyers. They enjoy following rules and keeping things in order. If you are someone who always keeps your desk tidy and your work well-planned, this might be the right path for you. Creative individuals are often attracted to jobs in the arts, design, or advertising. They enjoy coming up with new ideas and solving problems in unique ways. If you are always thinking outside the box, a creative career could be a great choice. Those with a curious and investigative nature often find fulfilment in scientific research, engineering or medicine. They love exploring new knowledge and finding answers to difficult questions. If you are always asking “why” and “how”, these fields might be perfect for you. Social and outgoing people often do well in jobs that involve interaction with others, such as teaching, sales, or public relations. They enjoy helping people and working in teams. If you love talking to people and building relationships, consider a social career. It’s important to remember that people are complex—you may have traits from different personality types. The best career for you is one that fits your unique combination of strengths and interests. 49.According to the passage, what personality trait makes a person suitable for being an accountant? A.It is unusual and should be avoided. B.It makes career choices more difficult. C.It is normal and the best career fits their unique combination. D.It means they should choose a career that only uses one trait. 53.What is the main idea of this passage? A.Personality is the only factor in choosing a career. B.Different personality traits suit different career paths. C.Creative jobs are better than other types of jobs. D.Organized people should always become accountants. (1~8题每空一词,第9题词数不限) When difficult people express themselves orally, they usually want at least two things: they are heard and they are understood. As a good communicator should be a good listener, there are five steps towards good listening. The first step is cooperating (合作). How does a difficult person know that you’re listening and understanding? In fact, it’s through the way you look and sound while he is talking. You may help him to fully express his thoughts and feelings. You do this by nodding your head in agreement, making certain sounds of understanding. When the person begins to repeat what’s been said, it’s a signal (信号) of step two: turning back. It means that you repeat back some words he is using, sending a clear signal that you’re listening carefully and that you think what he is saying is important. Having heard what he has to say, the next step is clarifying. At this point, you start to gather information about what is being communicated. Ask some open-ended questions, which will allow you to find out what intention he is hoping to satisfy. The fourth step is to summarize (概括) what you’ve heard. This allows you to make sure that both you and the difficult person are on the same page. When you do this, two things happen. First, if you’ve missed something, he can fill in the details. Second, if you’ve shown that you’re making an effort to understand completely, this will make it more possible to gain cooperation from him. Having listened carefully, you’ve now arrived at the point of confirming with the person that he feels satisfied that his thoughts have been fully voiced. Ask if he feels understood. When enough sincere listening, questioning, and remembering are brought together, understanding is usually achieved and a difficult person becomes less difficult and more cooperative. Listen to Understand Reason Difficult people hope they are heard and 54 when they express themselves. 55 on listening ◆ 56 in agreement and make some sounds of understanding while a difficult person is speaking. ◆Repeat some 57 that you have heard. ◆Collect 58 about the person’s expressions and find out his intention. ◆Summarize what the person has said to 59 the possibility of gaining cooperation from him. ◆ 60 that the person gains satisfaction from speaking his thoughts. Result A difficult person will be 61 to cooperate with if understanding is achieved. Your ideas What do you think is the importance of being a good listener in life? 62 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 《Unit1 Know yourself welcome to the unit 课时练习》参考答案 题号 49 50 51 52 53 答案 B B A C B 1.creative 2.energetic 3. curious be curious about 4. curiosity show curiosity about 5.modest 6. show off 7.organized 8. keep in order 9. patient patience impatient 10.at all times 11.explain 12. come up with 13. care careful carefully careless carelessly 14.neither 15. neither nor 16.accountant 17.standard 18.social 19.railway 20.mention 21.different personalities 22.keep things in good order 23.explain sth to sb 24.explain grammar rules to us 25.come up with new ideas 26.be curious about 27.become a good accountant 28.a sociable person 29.be involved in 30.be good at creative work 31.Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom. Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom。 的开端”译为“the beginning of”;“一切智慧”译为“all wisdom”;句子为一般现在时,结合主语be动词用is。 主语He是第三人称单数,且前句“Mr Wu is...” 形容词curious意为“好奇的”,位于be动词am之后作表语;动词study意为“研究”;like后接动词表示习惯性爱好时,常用like doing sth. 故填patient;easily;with。 37. modest shows off 【详解】原句中“谦虚”、“炫耀”是关键词,表示“谦虚”用形容词modest;短语show off意为“炫耀”。 应填modest;shows;off。 38. active talking person 【详解】原句中“性格活跃”对应“active”,作表语修饰主语“I”;“喜欢和人交谈”对应“love talking with people”,这里“love doing sth.” 39.easily 40.with 41.with 42.thinks 43.comes 44.at 45.talking 46.or 47.shows 48.in 【导语】本文分别介绍米莉、保罗、桑迪、大卫、安迪、苏西六人的性格特点,并结合各自性格分析适配的职业,说明性格会影响适合从事的工作类型。 固定搭配work with sb,表示“与他人合作共事“,故填介词with。 41. 固定搭配be careless with sth ,表示“在某事物上马虎粗心”,故填介词with。 42. 固定搭配be good at sth,表示“擅长某类事物”,故填介词at。 45. 固定搭配in good order,表示“整齐有序”,故填介词in。 根据文章第二段“People who are organized and detail-oriented often make good accountants, managers or lawyers.” 50.根据文章第三段“Creative individuals are often attracted to jobs in the arts, design, or advertising.” 51.根据文章第四段“Those with a curious and investigative nature often find fulfilment in scientific research, engineering or medicine.” 52.根据文章最后一段“It’s important to remember that people are complex — you may have traits from different personality types.” 54.understood 55.Suggestions/Tips/Advice/Steps 56.Nod 57.words 58.information 59.increase 60.Confirm 61.easier 62.Being a good listener builds trust and makes people feel valued.
