①Do you worry about past mistakes? Did you let your friends down? Sometimes, we think about these things too much. It makes us feel worried and tired. Cooking can be a great help for mental health (心理健康). It makes people feel in control and happy again.
②Julie Ohana, a social worker, mixed her love for cooking with talk therapy (谈话疗法). She believes that the kitchen can start a change in people’s lives. “The kitchen provides a chance for people to recognize opportunities for change,” said Ohana.
③Talk therapy is like talking to a special friend. This friend is good at listening. You can share your feelings, thoughts and problems with this friend. Then, he or she can give you advice to help you feel happier and more confident. It is a safe and helpful way to work through things that are bothering (困扰) you.
④Ohana found that working in the kitchen can speed up the process. “Cooking offers immediate satisfaction as you work your way through a recipe (食谱),” Ohana added. She uses cooking to help people relax and build their confidence. She starts by learning about what food people like to eat, their cooking skills and allergies (过敏反应). Then, they prepare dishes together.
⑤Ohana thinks it’s important to focus on the cooking process. Like art or music therapy, cooking is about the process, not just the result. She thinks that making meals, while being completely focused (注意力集中的), is a very special and important experience.

Do you have a long list of hobbies that light you up but find it hard to balance (平衡) them all? You’re not alone! The real challenge isn’t having too many hobbies, but how you manage them. In this passage, we’ll share how to enjoy all your hobbies without tiring yourself.
Focus on what you enjoy now.
It’s not easy to follow every hobby at the same time. The key is to focus on the hobbies that can bring you the most energy right now. For example, this month you’re excited about photography, but next month, you might want to try cooking. By switching hobbies based on what excites you, you’ll stay interested and avoid feeling tired.
Set a flexible schedule (灵活的时间表).
A flexible schedule helps you stay organized without pressure. You can create time blocks, such as one evening for drawing and another for guitar practice. If one hobby catches your attention more than the other, feel free to give it more time.
______
Why not get creative and combine your hobbies when possible? For example, if you love being outdoors and photography, take your camera with you when you go out. By doing this, you can enjoy the best of both worlds while keeping things fresh and exciting.
Perfection (完美) is not necessary.
When you have many interests, it’s easy to feel pressure to be good at all of them. However, hobbies are supposed to be enjoyable, not stressful! Focus on the learning process and let go of the need to be perfect. It’s okay to be “just okay” at some things—what matters most is that they bring you joy.

Children know that summer is probably the most interesting of all seasons. However, experts say this season is the most dangerous, especially for children aged 14 and under. In a study of children’s safety in the US, researchers found that nearly half of the injury-related (与受伤相关的) deaths among children happened in summer.
Experts are not surprised by the study’s results. They always know summer is a dangerous season for children. During the summer, children are out of school and spend more time outdoors. They are more likely to get into an accident or be injured. “While we encourage children to be active and spend more time outdoors, they need to understand the importance of safety,” said an expert.
To help children stay safe, the “Make It a Safe Kids’ Summer” Campaign was started during Safe Kids Week, from 7 May to 13 May.
