参考范文1
Dear classmates,
Good morning, everyone!I'm Li Hua.This summer,I volunteered at a community center
teaching smartphone skills to senior citizens every weekend.I created simple illustrated
handouts and used real-life examples to help them make video calls and order food online.
Though some took longer to grasp the concepts, their excitement when they finally made it
made every effort worthwhile.
This experience taught me that patience is key to communication. It also made me realize
that in our digital age, helping the elderly adapt isn't just a favor-it's a way to connect
generations and spread warmth. The smiles on their faces were the best reward I could ask for.
Thank you!
参考范文2
Dear classmates,
Good morning, everyone!I'm Li Hua.This summer,I joined a beach cleanup campaign
organized by our local environmental group.Every weekend,we collected plastic waste along
the Shaxi River-bottles,bags,and even fishing nets.At first,I was shocked by how much
trash piled up.But as weeks passed, more volunteers joined us,and regular visitors started
disposing of their garbage properly.
This experience taught me that individual actions matter.A single plastic bottle removed
from the Shaxi River can make our waterside more pleasant.Small efforts, when multiplied
by many,create real change.
Thank you!

参考范文
Afew weeks later;when I almost forgot the contest, there came the news.I got a letter,
saying that my story had won first prize, and that I would be invited to give a speech at the
award presentation.I read the letter,a mixture of surprise and excitement washing over me.
The big day finally came.At the award presentation, extremely nervous and excited,I
accepted the award certificate, with tears of excitement welling up in my eyes. The cheers
rising in the hall brought me back to the days when my teacher tirelessly helped revise my
essay. At that moment,I couldn't wait to share my happiness with my teacher.
I went to the teacher's office after the award presentation. My teacher seemed to be
waiting for me.Holding my hands and looking into my eyes,he said,"I'm so proud of you.
It's your own hard work that paid off."He reminded me to keep on writing. This time,I
nodded willingly.Overwhelmed by gratitude,I gave him a bear hug, expressing my heartfelt
thanks.I knew it was his belief in me that had pushed me to challenge my limits,to fight my
fears, and most importantly,to never give up.

W:Roy,you come from Bakersfield,don't you?
M:13Yes,Terra.I had a very happy childhood there.Have you heard about it?
W:Sure,it's in California.Professor Green asked me to write a report about its
environment.Could you tell me something about that?
M:Yes.Actually, the pollution there is very serious.
W:14What kind of pollution? Is it because of waste and rubbish?
M:It's because of the oil fields.14Oh,and the agriculture, too. It ranks second in terms of
its pollution.
W:Really? How can agriculture be harmful?I think the more plants we grow, the better air
we have.
M:Well,it's not that simple.
W:I never thought about it.What environmental impact of agriculture have you noticed in
your hometown?
M:15First of all,it's hard to ignore the bad smell of chemical fertilizer. What's more,
during the harvest, the air is thick with dry dust. And those industries in combination with
geography contribute to extremely poor air quality. The exhaust from machine engines
that are used on farms, and from the transportation of agricultural products is really
terrible.
Text10(第17题为推断题)
M:Please, put your headphones on.18To choose the language, you must press the button
on the radio device. There are four different options:red for English, blue for Spanish,
green for Chinese and yellow for French. Now,follow me this way...The Louvre Museum,
or the Louvre Palace,as it's often called,consists of 3 wings,and we're currently in
Richelieu. From here we will proceed to Sully and end our tour at Denon, where you will
see the unique and unforgettable Mona Lisa.Duing my presentation, you will be able to
see and hear the history of nearly nine thousand years, presented to you with 38,000
objects.Hard to imagine,isn't it?9Originally built in the late 12th century,the
building was reconstructed in the 16th century into a king's palace. And in the late
18th century,it became the Louvre Museum,as we know it nowadays.Located in the
central district of the city,it is one of the most recognizable attractions in Paris. The
number of people who visited the palace in 2022 was over 7.6 million, which still
didn't reach its peak of 10.2 million in 2018.I've heard a question about when to rest
from someone in the group...Of course,we'll take a break at noon at the Carrousel
Garden.

When you're a teacher,a big part of your job is battling student misconceptions.Often
students come to the classroom believing that learning can't be fun and that what they learn
isn't relevant to the real world-much less to their personal interests.I've discovered that if I
show students how what they learn is relevant to my hobbies, they're much more willing to
make connections to their personal interests and develop their own hobbies.
No matter what subject I'm teaching,I find ways to bring my hobbies into the classroom.
For example,.I'm a car enthusiast,.so when I teach physics,.I contextualize(置于情境中)
concepts with my knowledge about cars.If we're covering friction, for example,I bring
different tires (into my classroom so that my students can conduct lab experiments with
第4页共11页
them to see how friction works in real-life applications
When I first brought my hobbies to my classroom,I was focused on how doing so would
build engagement and help my students understand concepts in science. But I quickly
learned that the practice also helped me build stronger relationships with them. When I let
them see an aspect of my life outside of school, some students who were also interested in
cars connected with me more and became more engaged in my courses.Even those who
didn't share that interest with me seemed more engaged once I showed a different side of
myself.
What started as an experiment is now more of a philosophy.Even when I'm planning
classes,I tend to think about how I can bring in my hobbies.I find that doing so energizes my
instruction, engages my students, and demonstrates to them how abstract concepts play out in
the real world.Best of all,my passion for my hobbies seems to inspire them to be passionate
about finding their own.
24.What poses a challenge to teachers according to the author?
A.Students'misunderstandings about teachers.
B.Students'false assumptions about learning
C.The irrelevance of textbooks to students'lives.
D.The gap between teachers'and students'hobbies.
25.Why does the author bring tires into the classroom?
A.To teach an engineering skill.
B.To explain the structure of a car
C.To share a real-life experience.
D.To illustrate a scientific concept.
26.What was the unexpected outcome of the author's teaching method?
A.A higher class attendance rate
B.Better examination results.
C.A closer teacher-student bond.
D.More spare time for students.
27.Which of the following best describes the author as a teacher?
A.Innovative.
B.Humorous.
C.Strict.
D.Kind-hearted.

When discussions are getting heated, divisions on opinions potentially lead to some
awkward moments. This causes many of us to struggle with how to convince people to
change their minds and how to argue our side effectively.Unfortunately,we've already
become quite divided.
One study showed that when people receive information against their beliefs, their
第5页共11页
brains aren't as active as when they receive information that confirms their beliefs.Humans
have a well-documented bias (called the "confirmation bias",which is a tendency to
seek out information that confirms our existing views and to avoid information that
disconfirms them.
Throwing data at people isn't at all effective in changing minds and especially hearts
Instead, people just find it super annoying.Luckily, research has provided some guidance
about best practices, and, not surprisingly, they all suggest what our parents have been telling
us for decades:You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. In fact,it turns out that
instead of citing why you are right and someone else is wrong in a heated conversation, one of
the most effective strategies you can use for changing someone's mind is to find areas where
you agree.
Another thing we can do is to be open to other perspectives ()We can start by
acknowledging our own confirmation bias and making a conscious effort to override it.We
can also try to take other people's perspectives. And better yet-ask them for it.Ask them
why they feel the way they do and what would change their mind.Be open to admitting that
you could be wrong and make it easy for others to admit their own mistakes.
Finally, make new fiiends-friends that are different from you.Make your bias a
disconfirmation bias,in other words, when you have an opinion on something, don't just read
information that confirms it.Instead, make an effort to find information that could potentially
prove you wrong. If you were right all along, this exercise will only make your arguments
stronger. If you were wrong, your mind will have been opened up to new ideas.Either way,
this kind of open-mindedness will give you a brand-new perspective on life, and you might
even make some unlikely new friends in the process.
28.Which can illustrate "confirmation bias'?
A.We tend to welcome different ideas
B.We accept messages from the others.
C.We argue against points of disagreement.
D.We prefer information in line with our views
29.What does the underlined word "honey"in paragraph 3 refer to?
A.Following advice.
B.Sharing common ground
C.Admitting mistakes.
D.Blocking different ideas.
30.How can we benefit from our bias according to the last paragraph?
A.By letting go of our own opinion
B.By making arguments more reliable.
C.By opening up minds to new friends.
D.By securing information opposite to ours
第6页共11页
31.What is the best title of the text?
A.How to argue with others
B.Why it's so hard to change hearts and minds
C.How to shift minds in polarized communication
D.Why open-mindedness is effective in conversations
D
By age 2,most kids know how to play pretend. They turn their bedrooms into faraway
castles and hold make-believe tea parties. The ability to make something out of nothing may
seem uniquely human. Now,for the first time,an experiment hints that an ape (living
under human care can have an imagination.
Kanzi is an ape who was raised in a lab and became a star at communicating with
humans using graphic symbols.Scientists wondered whether Kanzi had the capacity to play
pretend-that is,act like something is real while knowing it's not. They adapted the playbook
for studying young children to stage a juice party for Kanzi. They poured imaginary juice into
two cups and then pretended to empty just one. They asked Kanzi which cup he wanted, and
he pointed to the cup still containing pretend juice 68%of the time.
To make sure Kanzi wasn't confusing real with fake ()they also ran a test with
actual juice."Kanzi chose the real juice over the pretend almost 80%of the time, which
suggests that he really can tell the difference between real juice and imaginary juice,"said
Amalia Bastos,a study co-author from the University of St.Andrews in Scotland.
But not all scientists are convinced that Kanzi is playing pretend as humans do."There's
a difference between imagining juice being poured into a cup and maintaining the pretense
that it's real,"said Duke University comparative psychologist Michael Tomasello."To be
convinced of that,I would need to see Kanzi actually pretend to pour water into a container
himself,"Tomasello wrote in an email.
Many great ape species in the wild are critically endangered, and it'll take more research
to understand what their minds are capable of."Kanzi opened this path for a lot of future
studies,"Bastos said.
32.What was Kanzi asked to do in the first test?
A.To read a playbook.
B.To choose a certain cup
C.To pour imaginary juice.
D.To identify graphic symbols.
33.Why did scientists experiment with real juice on Kanzi?
A.To prove Kanzi has emotions.
B.To explore Kanzi's preference for juice.
C.To confirm Kanzi can tell real from fake.
D.To train Kanzi's ability to make choices.

34.What does Michael Tomasello probably agree with?
A.Imagination equals pretense
B.Kanzi represents ape intelligence.
C.Kanzi may not have an imagination.
D.This experiment benefits future studies.

A.Kanzi:A Good Ape Pretender

Overtourism Is For Real:How Can You Help?
Travel promotes understanding, expands our minds, makes us better people, and boosts
local economies and communities, but the rapid growth of travel has led to overtourism in
certain regions and destinations.36 Certainly not.The loss of what travel offers
would be unacceptable in today's world. Here are some tips on making wise decisions to
minimize pressure on the places we visit and improve our experience.
Choose mindfully.Overvisited destinations are that way for a reason:they're special.
With so many online posts featuring the same places,it's easy to feel like you're missing out.
Go somewhere only when the landscape, culture or food deeply draws you.37
Get creative. The best way to ease pressure on over-touristed destinations is to go
somewhere else.Though overtourism is described as a problem affecting the entire world,it's
actually concentrated to a small number of extremely popular spots. That means you have
tons of less-visited options to choose from.38 Why not try a regional alternative or
check out a popular destination's lesser-known sights?
39 Minimize impact and maximize experience by skipping major holidays or
rush hour.You'll compete with fewer tourists,save money,experience a different side of a
popular place, and boost the economy when tourism is traditionally slower.
Visiting a place that others call home is a privilege.Do your part to preserve what
makes a destination special in the first place.40 You may be amazed how much
closer you'll feel to the people there.
A.Visit during off-peak times.
B.So,should we stop traveling?
C.Travel for you and no one else.
D.Can overtourism be avoided then?
E.You can still find relatively undiscovered places.
F.You'll find yourself virtually alone,or close to it.
G.Consider giving back to the communities you're visiting.

文。
When I was in middle school,my social studies teacher asked me to enter a writing
contest.I said no without thinking.I did not love writing. My family came from Brazil,so
English was only my second language.Writing was so difficult and painful for me that my
teacher had allowed me to present my paper on the sinking of the Titanic by acting out a play,
where I played all the parts. No one laughed harder than he did.
So,why did he suddenly force me to do something at which I was sure to fail? His reply:
Because I love your stories. If you're willing to apply yourself,I think you have a good shot
at this."Encouraged by his words,I agreed to give it a try.
I chose Paul Revere's horse as my subject.Paul Revere was a silversmith (in
Boston who rode a horse at night on April 18,1775 to Lexington to warn people that British
soldiers were coming. My story would come straight from the horse's mouth. Not a brilliant
idea, but funny, and unlikely to be anyone else's choice.
What did the horse think,as he sped through the night?Did he get tired?Have doubts?
Did he want to quit?I sympathized immediately.I got tired.I had doubts.I wanted to quit.
But,like Revere's horse,I kept going.I worked hard.I checked my spelling.I asked my older
sister to correct my grammar.I checked out a half dozen books on Paul Revere from the
library.I even read a few of them.
When I handed in the essay to my teacher,he read it,laughed out loud, and said,"Great.
Now,write it again."I wrote it again,and again and again.When I finally finished it,the
thought of winning had given way to the enjoyment of writing. If I didn't win,I wouldn't care.
注意:
(1)续写词数应为150左右:
(2)请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
A few weeks later;when I almost forgot the contest, there came the news.
I went to my teacher's office after the award presentation.
