Green said, “Clearly I am the most important. I am the sign of life and hope. I’m the color of grass, trees and leaves. Without me, all animals would die.”
Blue interrupted, “Don’t just think about the earth. What is the color of the sky and the sea? Is not water the most important thing for life?
Yellow laughed and said, “You are all so serious. I bring laughter, happiness and warmth into the world. Every time people look at a yellow sunflower, they start to smile. Without me, there would be no fun.”
Orange said at the top of his voice, “I am the color of health and strength. I carry the most important vitamins. Think of carrots, pumpkins and oranges. When I fill the sky at sunrise or sunset, everyone is shocked at my beauty and nobody gives another thought to any of you.”
Red could stand it no longer, so he shouted, “I am the color of danger and bravery. I am willing to fight for a cause.”
And so the colors went on quarreling. Their voices became louder and louder. The thunder got angry and the rain started to pour. When the colors began to cool, the rain said, “You foolish colors. Don’t you know that each of you is unique? Join hands and follow me.”

Colour psychology (心理学) is the study of the influences that colours have on how humans behave and feel. There have been many experiments with colour since it was discovered in 1666. How does colour influence your moods? Let’s take a deeper dive into colour psychology.
Colour Influences Moods
Colour has more influence in our lives than we realize. It can influence our minds, bodies and moods. Colours close to the red spectrum (光谱) are warmer colours, including red, orange and yellow. These warm colours suggest feelings of warmth, comfort, anger and hostility (敌意), while blue colours like purple and green are known for suggesting feelings of calm, sadness, or coldness.
Colour Therapy
Colour psychology can also be used as a therapy. In fact, old cultures practiced something called Chromotherapy, or light medicine, which used colours to cure. However, even though some psychologists look at colour therapy doubtfully, it is still used today in some medical practices. Research has shown that the “mood-changing effect” of colour may not last long in many cases. A blue room may cause feelings of calm at the beginning, but the effect disappears after a short period.
Studies have also shown that colour can influence your performance, A study was done in six experiments involving 71 college students who were given a number. Each number was coloured red, green, or black before the students took a five-minute test. Of those uncovered to the colour red before taking an exam, it was shown to harm their performance in the test.
Colour in Consumption (消费)
We also see colour psychology in advertising, suggesting that some colours or shades can have a wide influence, improving our moods or causing worries. However, the colour of the products we buy may have something to do with our personality and why we choose the product. From the clothes we wear, to the car we drive—the colour can tell about how people notice us. For example, some realize the colour black is powerful. When we think of expensive cars, most of them are black.
Colour has played an important part in sending information and even influencing our decisions. Interest in colour psychology is growing, and there is still a lot to learn how it can influence our moods, buys and performance.
33.According to the passage, what is colour psychology?
A.It studies how scientists are influenced by different colours.
B.It studies how colours influence humans’ actions and moods.
C.It studies how to divide colours into different groups.
D.It studies how to do experiments with different colours.
34.Which of the following is TRUE about colour therapy?
A.All psychologists find colour therapy useful.
B.People in old times knew nothing about colour therapy.
C.The influence of colour therapy may not last long.
D.Red can help students get good marks in exams.
35.What can we infer from the passage?
A.We can tell a person’s personality according to their preferred colour.
B.Most customers would like to buy black cars instead of white ones.
C.The colour of products has something to do with their quality.
D.Most companies prefer to use the colour black in the advertisements.
36.In which section of a website can we possibly read the passage?
A.Travel guide. B.News report. C.Business. D.Science.

Have you ever looked at a cat’s face and wondered what it is thinking? A team of scientists from the University of California might have some answers. In a fascinating new study, researchers discovered that cats use 276 different facial (面部) expressions to show their feelings—far more than we have ever imagined!
The scientists visited a local cat cafe in Los Angeles for over several months to observe (观察) 53 cats. They recorded 194 minutes of videos, carefully watching how the cats communicate with each other. Using a special system called FACS (Facial Action Coding System), which is normally used to study human expressions, they identified 26 unique facial movements in cats. These movements—like licking (舔) their nose, opening their mouth, or widening their pupils (the black part of their eyes)—combine in different ways to create all those expressions. They also found cats use 26 of these facial movements in total, which can be mixed to express how they are feeling. Dogs use 27 facial movements and humans use a total of 44.
Out of the expressions they recorded, 45% were friendly and 37% were angry. “A friendly cat moves its ears and whiskers forward while closing its eyes slowly—almost like a smile! However, an angry cat often flattens its ears to its head, makes its pupils smaller and licks its lips,” said the team.
Although the researchers aren’t sure what the cats were trying to communicate with each other using their faces, they plan to study cats in other places to improve their understanding. They also hope that the research could help animal shelters (收容所) improve the way they look after the cats. Some pet owners even suggest the researchers develop an app that scans a cat’s face to explain its mood—like a “cat translator”.
Next time your cat stares at you, pay attention—it might be “talking” with its face!
37.How does the writer start the passage?
A.By giving numbers. B.By telling a story.
C.By showing some facts. D.By asking a question.
38.Which of the following uses the most facial movements?
A.Cats. B.Humans. C.Dogs. D.Tigers.
39.What might the scientists do next?
A.Keep on studying to know more about cats.
B.Find out why the cats try to communicate with each other.
C.Build an animal shelter to look after cats.
D.Use an app to study cats’ expressions.
40.What would be the best structure of the passage?
A. B. C. D.
B)阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,选项中有一项为多余选项。
Courage is often thought to be one of the important spirits everyone needs. Then what is courage? 41 One isn’t necessarily born with courage, but one is born with potential (潜力). Kids build courage as they are growing up.
Many people talk about connections between courage and fear. 42 If there is no fear, there is no need for courage. That is to say, courage is the ability to do what makes you feel afraid. Courage does not only mean great actions such as saving one’s life or taking a big risk.
43 For example, we show courage when we raise our hand to answer a hard question during class or try a new sport.
Courage is in everyday choices that we make. Can you be kind to the new kid in your class? 44 Or can you stand up for someone in need? Often, these things don’t come with praise, but they need courage.
45 When we become brave enough to face failure, we’ll be more willing to try new things and try again after we fail. Courage doesn’t always shout. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says, “I’ll try again tomorrow.”
A.You should learn to speak in public.
B.It is the ability to do something difficult.
C.Courage always stands side by side with fear.
D.Can you listen to the new person in your group?
E.Learning to fail is another important part of courage.
F.Courage also means the smaller actions of our everyday lives.

B) 短文语法填空。填入适当的单词或括号内单词的正确形式,使短文完整、通顺。每空限填一词。
Every Saturday morning, there is a fight in 51 (thousand) of houses across America. Mum or Dad probably says kindly at first, “Could you please 52 (make) your room tidy, dear?” The kid may do nothing 53 say “No”. As the morning passes 54 (slow), the parent gets angry. “How many times do I have to tell you to clean 55 your bedroom? Do it right now!” The fight becomes worse. In the past, many parents just gave up and 56 (sweep) the room by themselves. But now, parents can do something 57 (change) this situation.
★Parents should set 58 good example. Keeping your own things in order will help kids to develop the good habit.
★Tell kids clearly what a clean room is like. Before kids meet your expectations (期望), they must understand what you want 59 (they) to do.
★Each thing should be in its place. Give your kids some 60 (box). Work together at labeling (贴标签于) each thing and deciding where it should go.
五、阅读与表达(共5小题;满分10分)
阅读短文,回答短文后的五个问题
A forest is like a football group. It sounds unusual, but it’s true. Each player does an important job, but they can’t win by themselves, so they work together. The same is true of all plants and animals in a forest. They depend on each other to live. We call this an ecosystem.
There are three jobs in an ecosystem: producer, consumer and decomposer. The trees in the forest produce food by themselves. Giraffes themselves can’t make their own food, so they consume or eat the trees’ leaves. But sometimes hungry lions or other animals eat giraffes. When animals die, their bodies become part of the soil and air to help the forest grow. So the ecosystem can keep on going.
Ecosystems come in lots of kinds and sizes. A backyard or even a big sea can be an ecosystem. The key thing is that an ecosystem has to be balanced. If there weren’t animals to eat giraffes, giraffes would eat too many leaves. This wouldn’t be good for the trees, and this would make it difficult for giraffes to find food. Different weather and natural disasters can change the ecosystems. Human activities like cutting down the trees and hunting can also bring problems.
Ecosystems are everywhere. They play an important role in our life. It is necessary for us to do what we can to keep them working well.
注:每题答案不超过9个单词
61.How many jobs are there in an ecosystem?
62.If the crane lives mainly on small animals, what is it in an ecosystem according to Paragraph 2?

Blue interrupted, “Don’t just think about the earth. What is the color of the sky and the sea? Is not water the most important thing for life?

44.此处主要在列举日常选择中的勇气,句式为疑问句。空白前后分别是“Can you be kind...?”和“Or can you stand up...?”。选项D“Can you listen to the new person in your group?”同样是疑问句,且内容关于善待他人,与上下文语境和句式结构保持一致。
