Additionally, there were lectures on Chinese history and culture, as well as an exhibition of cultural relics.

Tears filling my eyes, the longburied words started to come out of my mouth. “I have two different homes, and two different sets of rules. I feel like there are two of me. That’s awful!” My emotional words made them realize what was behind my recent strange behavior. Speechless for a moment, Mom reached over and hugged me tearfully. “Honey, I didn’t realize that our divorce had affected you so much.” Then Dad took my hand and sincerely apologized for ignoring my feelings. They both promised that their love for me would be the same forever, which was quite comforting. With both Mom and Dad around me and listening to me patiently, the “two of me” feeling gradually disappeared. (105words)

Alex de Minaur, an Australian professional tennis player, has impressed the tennis world with a beautiful act for his opponent (对手) after the Washington final. De Minaur saved three championship points to win the 10th ATP title of his career, defeating (战胜) Spanish player Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
Fokina was heartbroken after losing three championship points in the third set — the last one came when de Minaur made an amazing effort to survive. The Spaniard has never won a title at the ATP level, and has now lost in two finals.
Fokina cried after the final point and hid his face in his towel (毛巾). De Minaur noticed his opponent’s low spirits and at once went to comfort him.
The Aussie was seen sitting next to Fokina before resting an arm around him and offering some words of encouragement. Tennis fans were blown away by de Minaur’s act, which came before he’d celebrated the victory (胜利).
De Minaur also offered some kind words for Fokina in his victory speech, saying: “You’re way too good not to have one of these victories. It’s coming for sure. You deserved (值得) it today. I just got lucky. You are a great competitor and player. This is not the end.”
Davidovich Fokina also praised de Minaur, saying the Australian “deserved the win”. “He was fighting for every ball,” he added.
The beautiful moment between the pair made the tennis world fall in love with de Minaur even more. One person wrote online: “Hard not to feel for Alejandro Davidovich Fokina today and hard not to admire how kind this was of Alex de Minaur.” Another commented: “I have a newfound respect for Alex de Minaur after he comforted Fokina. He is a truly humble (谦逊的) man.”

A.He quickly celebrated his victory. B.He left without speaking to Fokina.
C.He comforted his opponent right away. D.He gave a speech to thank the audience.

A.Worried and afraid. B.Angry and speechless.

27.What can we learn from the text?

The secret to eating less and being happy about it may have been cracked (解开) years ago — by McDonald's. According to a new study from Cornell University's Food and Brand Lab, small non-food rewards — like the toys in McDonald's Happy Meals — stimulate the same reward centers in the brain as food does.
The researchers, led by Martin Reimann, carried out a series of experiments to see if people would choose a smaller meal if it was paired with a non-food item.
They found that the majority (大多数) of both kids and adults preferred a half-sized portion (份) when combined with a prize. Both options were priced the same.
Even more interesting is that the promise of a future reward was enough to make adults choose the smaller portion. One of the prizes used was a lottery ticket (彩票), with a $10, $50 or $100 payout, and this was as effective as a real gift in persuading (说服) people to eat less.
“The fact that participants were willing to exchange part of a food item for the mere likelihood of a relatively small monetary award is interesting,” says Reimann.
He theorizes that it is the emotional component (成分) of these intangible (无形的) prizes that make them effective. In fact, less clearly stated possibilities of winning a prize were more effective than options with fixed odds (概率) included.
“One explanation for this finding is that possible awards may be more emotionally stimulating than certainty awards,” says Reimann. “The uncertainty of winning provides added attraction and desirability through emotional ‘thrills’. The possibility of receiving an award also produces a state of hope — a state that is in itself psychologically (心理学上) rewarding.” In other words, there's a reason why people like to gamble (赌博).
How might this knowledge be used to help people eat more healthily? One possibility is a healthy option that offers the chance to win a spa (温泉疗养) weekend. Or maybe the reward of a half-sized portion could be a half-sized dessert to be claimed only on a future date. That would get you back in the restaurant — and make you eat a little less.
28.McDonald's inclusion of toys in its Happy Meals ________.
A.has been a secret for many years B.offers a way to lose weight
C.is the key to McDonald's success D.stimulates kids to eat more
29.What did Martin Reimann's experiments find out?
A.Eating less may happen even if the award is intangible.
B.The majority of people prefer a half-sized portion of food.
C.People tend to ask for a prize if they are given a small meal.
D.Healthy eating habits can be built by choosing smaller meals.
30.What may be the main factor that leads to the phenomenon (现象) in the experiment?
A.The certainty to win. B.The need for money.
C.The health knowledge. D.The gambling thrill.
31.What can be inferred from the last paragraph?
A.More restaurants are likely to follow McDonald's example.
B.People should eat less if they wish to stay healthy and happy.
C.We can lead people to eat less while helping the restaurant business.

Morningside Park in Miami, on the east coast of the US, will soon start a new project to improve the environment. Our team has developed BIOCAP tiles (砖) using 3D printing, which will be installed on the present seawall there this year. With their special design, these tiles will help deal with rising sea levels and bring back nature along the coastline.
Seawalls are usually made with concrete (混凝土) to prevent waves from damaging the land and flooding people’s homes. They usually range from about 1.8 to 3 meters in height. However, traditional seawalls can harm the environment. Their flat surfaces take away the habitat areas that sea organisms depend on. These organisms help keep the water clear and clean by screening out extra nutrients and pollutants. For example, an adult oyster can filter 75 to 190 liters of water daily.
BIOCAP tiles are designed with lines, cracks and small pockets. These features copy natural coastline conditions and create tiny homes for sea creatures. The wavy patterns also increase the total surface area, so that the organisms have more space to use. In addition, shaded spots on the tiles provide cooler micro-environments, supporting life as more heat events happen due to climate change.
Another benefit of the tiles is that they can better reduce the impact of waves. When waves hit a natural coastline, their energy is gradually taken in by uneven surfaces and plants. However, when waves strike straight concrete seawalls, the energy is reflected right back into the water. This reflection can strengthen wave action, make erosion worse at the base of the wall and create more dangerous conditions during storms.
The tiles’ shapes are based on how water behaves with different surfaces at high and low tide. Some tiles bend inward while others outward, and they are placed at different heights along the seawall. This results in surfaces that spread out wave energy by copying the natural way it fades on untouched shorelines.
32.What is the main advantage of BIOCAP tiles over traditional seawalls?
A.They are more friendly to the environment. B.They are more cost-efficient.
C.They help keep the water clean. D.They can stop the sea levels from rising.
33.What is the function of the example of oysters in paragraph 2?
A.To list a kind of sea life. B.To prove the surface is flat.
C.To explain the harm of traditional seawall. D.To show how sea animals harm the water.
34.Why are BIOCAP tiles shaped with lines and cracks?
A.Because it can save materials. B.Because it can frighten away sea animals.
C.Because it can make the walls more beautiful. D.Because it can create more room for organisms.
35.What can be the best title of this text?
A.Perfect Coastline conditions in Miami. B.3D printed tiles replacing traditional seawalls.
C.A new wave hitting the coastline in Miami. D.3D printed tiles helping nature.

It was the first time in a long time that rd seen them in the same room after their divorce(离婚). so I asked hopefully, k4Can we walk around and look at all the science projects together?”
"I'm sorry, Andrea,” Mom said hurriedly, “I promised to volunteer in the soup kitchen?” It was my night to be with Dad anyway, so he and I looked at some projects and then went home. Seeing me rubbing my eyes. Dad thought I was tired, but I just didn't want him to see the pouring tears.
At least at school nothing had changed, and I could be just me. But one day my best friend, Trish, decided to pick Lisa instead of me to be on her volleyball team. I was so mad! So I hid her lunchbox. No one could find it. Later that day the teacher found it out. I was sent to the principal's office, and the principal called my parents. We had a meeting.
Mom gave me her disappointed look and Dad said to me angrily, “We've decided you've lost your TV and computer game chances for two weeks." Alex de Minaur, an Australian professional tennis player, has impressed the tennis world with a beautiful act for his opponent (对手) after the Washington final.

D.More studies are needed to find out the impact of emotion while eating.

Mom gave me her disappointed look and Dad said to me angrily, “We've decided you've lost your TV and computer game chances for two weeks." But even though I was in trouble, I was happy to sec Mom and Dad talking to each other. Then Mom added, “Andrea, you should use your words and tell someone how you're feeling.”

In recent years, village cafes have boomed in China’s countryside. It’s not that village cafes have low prices or excellent service, but that they offer people peace and unique experiences. For example, Jiang Shuying drove 130 kilometers from Beijing to a village cafe housed in an old stone building, preferring its quietness to that of city coffee shops. Ye Zhongwen’s Red Guan Coffee in Dongguan, set in an old house by railway tracks, attracts visitors from a long distance away, even Hong Kong, proving that remote locations can be appealing. These cafes help local economies grow. They attract tourists to buy farm products. In Zhejiang’s Quzhou, the Sheep Shed Cafe, transformed from an old shed into Young People Coffee, is run by an art graduate. It now features a pool, stage, and camping area, welcoming 5,000 visitors daily during peak seasons. In 2022, village cafes began to emerge and gain attention. Three years later, there are over 40,000 village cafes across China.

D.More studies are needed to find out the impact of emotion while eating.
【答案】28.B 29.A 30.D 31.C

根据第四段“Even more interesting is that the promise of a future reward was enough to make adults choose the smaller portion. One of the prizes used was a lottery ticket (彩票), with a $10, $50 or $100 payout, and this was as effective as a real gift in persuading (说服) people to eat less. (更有趣的是,对未来奖励的承诺足以让成年人选择较小的那部分。其中一个奖品是一张彩票,有10美元、50美元或100美元的奖金,这和真正的礼物一样有效地说服人们少吃)” 可知,即使奖励是无形的(如彩票),也能让人们选择更少的食物。故选A项。
根据倒数第二段““The uncertainty of winning provides added attraction and desirability through emotional ‘thrills’. The possibility of receiving an award also produces a state of hope — a state that is in itself psychologically (心理学上) rewarding.” In other words, there's a reason why people like to gamble (赌博). (“获胜的不确定性带来了更多的吸引力和吸引力,因为它能带来情感上的‘刺激’。获得奖项的可能性也会让人产生一种希望的感觉——这种感觉本身就是一种心理上的愉悦体验。”换句话说,这就是为什么人们喜欢赌博的原因)”可推知,实验中现象的主要因素与赌博带来的刺激感有关。故选D项。
31.推理判断题。根据最后一段“That would get you back in the restaurant — and make you eat a little less. (这会让你回到餐厅——让你吃得少一点)”可推知,通过提供奖励,既可以吸引顾客再次光顾餐厅,又能帮助他们减少食量,从而在帮助餐厅生意的同时引导人们少吃。故选C项。

【答案】32.A 33.C 34.D 35.D
根据第二段中“However, traditional seawalls can harm the environment. Their flat surfaces take away the habitat areas that sea organisms depend on. (然而,传统的海堤会对环境造成危害。它们平坦的表面夺走了海洋生物赖以生存的栖息地)”以及第三段中“BIOCAP tiles are designed with lines, cracks and small pockets. These features copy natural coastline conditions and create tiny homes for sea creatures. (BIOCAP砖设计有线条、裂缝和小口袋。这些特征模仿了自然海岸线的条件,为海洋生物创造了微小的家园)”可知,BIOCAP砖相较于传统海堤的主要优势在于它们模仿了自然海岸线的条件,为海洋生物创造了微小的家园,对环境更为友好。故选A项。
根据第二段中“However, traditional seawalls can harm the environment. Their flat surfaces take away the habitat areas that sea organisms depend on. These organisms help keep the water clear and clean by screening out extra nutrients and pollutants. For example, an adult oyster can filter 75 to 190 liters of water daily.
根据第三段中“BIOCAP tiles are designed with lines, cracks and small pockets. These features copy natural coastline conditions and create tiny homes for sea creatures. The wavy patterns also increase the total surface area, so that the organisms have more space to use. (BIOCAP砖设计有线条、裂缝和小口袋。这些特征模仿了自然海岸线的条件,为海洋生物创造了微小的家园。波浪图案还增加了总面积,使生物有更多的空间可以利用)”可知,BIOCAP砖设计成有线条和裂缝的形状是为了为生物创造更多的生存空间。故选D项。
35.主旨大意题。通读全文,结合第一段中“Our team has developed BIOCAP tiles (砖) using 3D printing, which will be installed on the present seawall there this year. With their special design, these tiles will help deal with rising sea levels and bring back nature along the coastline. (我们的团队已经开发出使用3D打印的BIOCAP砖,这些砖将于今年安装在现有的海堤上。凭借其特殊的设计,这些砖将有助于应对海平面上升,并恢复海岸线沿线的自然生态)”可知,本文主要介绍了BIOCAP砖的设计、功能及其对环境的益处,特别是它们如何帮助恢复自然生态。因此,D项“3D printed tiles helping the nature.(3D打印砖帮助自然)”最符合文章主旨,适合作文章标题。故选D项。

I always seemed to be running late and hurrying up. I’d wake up early in the morning in order to have enough time to get to where I wanted to go. Then one day when going to work, I had been running behind again. Unluckily, on the way, my car was out of gas. As my car left the road, I looked at my watch. It’s clear that I’d be late. 37 I had a meeting in fifteen minutes and I hadn’t finished preparing for it.
But as I looked out towards the east, the sun was just beginning to climb out of the hill. There was fog hanging over the river and some ducks were swimming across the glass-like surface of the water. A few boats sat on the river, which was shining in the sunshine. 38
I was surprised. This pretty scene had been going on right outside my car every morning. 39 I had been rushing around in such a hurry to not miss anything that I had been missing everything!
40 I understood I needed to set schedules and made good preparations for big events in case of any hurry. More importantly, I should try to stay relaxed and enjoy present life. And there was no need to worry about unimportant things. Now I am here traveling this life joyfully and patiently.

Mom gave me her disappointed look and Dad said to me angrily, “We've decided you've lost your TV and computer game chances for two weeks." Tears filling my eyes, the longburied words started to come out of my mouth. (105words)
Tears filling my eyes, the longburied words started to come out of my mouth.
Tears filling my eyes, the longburied words started to come out of my mouth.

The secret to eating less and being happy about it may have been cracked (years ago-by
McDonald's.According to a new study from Cornell University's Food and Brand Lab,small non-food rewards-
like the toys in McDonald's Happy Meals-stimulate the same reward centers in the brain as food does.
The researchers, led by Martin Reimann, carried out a series of experiments to see if people would choose a
smaller meal if it was paired with a non-food item.
They found that the majority (of both kids and adults preferred a half-sized portion (when
combined with a prize. Both options were priced the same.
Even more interesting is that the promise of a future reward was enough to make adults choose the smaller
portion. One of the prizes used was a lottery ticket ()with a $10,$50 or $100 payout, and this was as
effective as a real gift in persuading (people to eat less.
"The fact that participants were willing to exchange part of a food item for the mere likelihood of a
relatively small monetary award is interesting,"says Reimann.
He theorizes that it is the emotional component(成分)of these intangible(无形的)prizes that make them
effective. In fact, less clearly stated possibilities of winning a prize were more effective than options with fixed
odds(概率)included.
"One explanation for this finding is that possible awards may be more emotionally stimulating than
certainty awards,"says Reimann."The uncertainty of winning provides added attraction and desirability through
emotional thrills'.The possibility of receiving an award also produces a state of hope-a state that is in itself
psychologically(心理学上)rewarding.”In other words, there's a reason why people like to gamble(赌博),

Morningside Park in Miami,on the east coast of the US,will soon start a new project to improve the
environment. Our team has developed BIOCAP tiles()using 3D printing, which will be installed on the present
seawall there this year. With their special design, these tiles will help deal with rising sea levels and bring back
nature along the coastline
Seawalls are usually made with concrete (to prevent waves from damaging the land and flooding
people's homes. They usually range from about 1.8 to 3 meters in height. However, traditional seawalls can harm
the environment.Their flat surfaces take away the habitat areas that sea organisms depend on.These organisms
help keep the water clear and clean by screening out extra nutrients and pollutants. For example,an adult oyster
can filter 75 to 190 liters of water daily.
BIOCAP tiles are designed with lines, cracks and small pockets. These features copy natural coastline
conditions and create tiny homes for sea creatures. The wavy patterns also increase the total surface area,so that
the organisms have more space to use.In addition, shaded spots on the tiles provide cooler micro-environments,
supporting life as more heat events happen due to climate change.
○
Another benefit of the tiles is that they can better reduce the impact of waves. When waves hit a natural
coastline, their energy is gradually taken in by uneven surfaces and plants. However, when waves strike straight
concrete seawalls, the energy is reflected right back into the water. This reflection can strengthen wave action,
make erosion worse at the base of the wall and create more dangerous conditions during storms.
The tiles'shapes are based on how water behaves with different surfaces at high and low tide. Some tiles
bend inward while others outward, and they are placed at different heights along the seawall. This results in
surfaces that spread out wave energy by copy ing the natural way it fades on untouched shorelines.
32.What is the main advantage of BIOCAP tiles over traditional seawalls?
张
A.They are more friendly to the environment.B.They are more cost-efficient.
C.They help keep the water clean.
D.They can stop the sea levels from rising.
33.What is the function of the example of oysters in paragraph 2?
A.To list a kind of sea life.
B.To prove the surface is flat.
游
游
C.To explain the harm of traditional seawall.
D.To show how sea animals harm the water
游
34.Why are BIOCAP tiles shaped with lines and cracks?
A.Because it can save materials.
B.Because it can frighten away sea animals
C.Because it can make the walls more beautiful.D.Because it can create more room for organisms.
35.What can be the best title of this text?
A.Perfect Coastline conditions in Miami.
