Kangkang: Yeah. It is said that it was invented in 1879. Do you know who the inventor is?
Li Xiang: Thomas Edison. He brought us light at night with his invention. He invented more than
two thousand things in his whole life.
Kangkang: Yes. That’s what made him famous all over the world.
Li Xiang: Wait … Is that a telephone?
Kangkang: That’s right. Well, the first telephone was invented by Alexander Graham Bell in 1876.
Li Xiang: Cool. Over a hundred years ago, people could already talk over a distance.
Kangkang: Yes. Is that a bike?
Li Xiang: No, it’s the first car. It was invented by Karl Benz in 1886.
Kangkang: I see. It is surely more convenient to travel in cars than on horseback. These great
inventions have truly changed the world, haven’t they?
Li Xiang: They certainly have.

Let’s introduce
Hello, everyone. I’d like to introduce two inventions.
The first is the electric fan. It was invented by Schuyler Skaats Wheeler in 1882. He was an American engineer. The earliest electric fan only had two blades. It can make people feel cool on hot days. Unlike air conditioners, electric fans are cheap and easy to use. They are widely used in homes, schools and offices. This great invention has made our summer much more comfortable.
Introduce the inventions to your group members.
Let’s introduce
The next is the washing machine. The first electric washing machine was invented by Alva J. Fisher in 1907. Before that, people had to wash clothes by hand. It was tiring and took a lot of time. The washing machine helps us clean clothes easily and saves us plenty of time. Nowadays, washing machines can be found in nearly every family. This useful invention has greatly changed people’s daily life.
Introduce the inventions to your group members.
