Text 1
Imagine eating only hamburgers every day. At first, it tastes
great. But after a month, your body would be weak and sick
because you need different kinds of food.
4
Your brain works in the same way. If you only read or watch
one kind of information, you will trap (使……陷入) yourself in
an information cocoon (信息茧房).
An information cocoon is like a mental bubble (思维气泡).
It happens when you only see information that you already like or
agree with. Social media apps make this worse…

Text 2
In the age of booming (迅猛发展的) social media, many
young people are used to “fast socializing”, adding hundreds of
friends online, exchanging empty greetings, and joining meaningless
group chats. Some have thousands of online friends but no one to
talk to when feeling bad. But in recent years, more and more
young people in China are turning to “slow socializing”, and freely
giving up those meaningless social connections.

Many young people say fast socializing only brings them
growing nervousness and a sense of emptiness. They spend much
time online but still feel lonely when they are in trouble. However,
slow socializing brings them a strong sense of safety and belonging.
They no longer pursue (追求) the number of friends on their
social accounts, but focus on building real, heart-to-heart
connections with people who truly understand them. A 2025
national survey found that over 68% of young people aged 16-25
prefer slow socializing, and most of them have better mental
(心理的) health than those who prefer fast socializing.#3

Inventions have played an important role in shaping the world
we live in today. From the wheel to the Internet, these inventions
have changed the way we live, work and communicate. Let's look
back at some of the most important inventions in human history
and their influence on society.
The wheel was invented thousands of years ago. It has been a
good tool in transportation (运输业), farming, and manufacturing
(制造业). It completely changed the way that goods were

New research has found that dolphins
sometimes “smile” when they play with each other.
Scientists noticed that dolphins in zoos or wildlife
Bottlenose dolphins are very friendly and love playing together
in groups, called pods. Scientists wanted to learn more about how
parks often make facial expressions that look like smiling or
laughing. This usually happens when they are playing in groups
with their friends.

they play, so they recorded videos of 22 dolphins in two wildlife
parks. They watched the dolphins while they played in pairs, with
their human trainers, and when they were alone.
Over the 80 hours of videos, the scientists saw the dolphins
make open-mouth expressions 1,288 times. They found that 92% of
the time, the dolphins made these expressions when they were
playing with each other. They didn't do it much with humans, even
less when they were playing by themselves. Nearly 90% of the
expressions happened when a dolphin could see its playmate's face.

If the other dolphin saw the expression, it “smiled” back about
one-third of the time.
Other studies have shown that dogs, horses, and monkeys also
use an open-mouth expression when they play. But this is the first
time researchers have found that dolphins do it too.
Biologist Elisabetta Palagi said that the open-mouth expression
is a way animals, including dolphins, can show they are just
playing, not being hazardous to people's safety, that is, they don't
hurt people. She explained that it's like when we use a smiley face
in a text message to show we are joking or having fun.

The research only looked at dolphins in zoos, so dolphins in
the wild might act differently. In open water, dolphins might use
sounds instead of facial expressions to communicate. Scientists also
want to learn if the “smile” helps dolphins play longer or in new
ways. They are still studying how the dolphins play and
communicate.#7
