阅读理解 (2026·合肥高二质检)Researchers in Australia are using a robot powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve the way farmers raise cattle. The robot has four wheels and is painted red. Researchers have named the robot cow SwagBot. It can drive by itself and move cows from one field to another based on the condition of the soil and plant life. Researchers said SwagBot is becoming the world's first “smart cow”. They believe it can make cattle farming more efficient and put less pressure on the environment. First launched in 2016, SwagBot could then only move around fields where cattle graze (放牧). Over time, scientists have added sensors and AI systems to the robot, helping SwagBot judge the health, type, and thickness of grasses and plants in fields and observe the health of the cattle. The robot uses this information to move cattle to the best areas for grazing. The goal is to move cattle to a new grazing area before they have damaged the grass in a particular field, preventing damage to the soil. Once cattle feel at ease near the robot, they follow it around. The robot can also send the information back to farmers. Australia is one of the world's biggest exporters of beef. It has 30 million cattle spread across large areas that are often dry. As a result, some pastures(牧场) are of low quality and do not have much grass. Farmers carefully assess how many animals their land can support. However, many farmers have little control over where the animals graze within large areas of land. Overgrazing can lead to poor soil that supports fewer plants and animals. The robot can help farmers get detailed information about the current condition of their fields. SwagBot is still in development. It is part of a growing movement in agriculture towards robotics. Farming experts hope robots can make production more efficient. Robots could also reduce the need for workers in places, like Australia, where finding workers in areas with a low population can be difficult. 周周练 √ 1.What could SwagBot do originally? Here are a few tips that you can follow. A.It's time to think again. 周周练 Plan your layout (布局) carefully.2.__________________________ _____________________________ Consider the overall arrangement of the space and create different zones for different purposes. F.Before planting, think about how to use your garden. By dividing the space into smaller sections, you can put different plants you want to grow in them. You may want to make an outline or use a design tool to visualize your ideas. Or it's a good choice to search for digital garden planners online to help you design the layout. 3.____________________________ If you have limited space, it's important to select plants that will grow well in your garden. Look for plants that are suited to the climate, soil type, and growing conditions. Or choose dense or small sizes of plants to maximize your space. For professional advice, you'd better talk to an employee at a gardening center, who knows better. C.Choose appropriate plants. 周周练 Make use of vertical (垂直的) space. I was texting my mother when I happened to look up in time to see an enormous tree in front of us on the highway, standing straight up! It was being pushed along by a stream of mud that was swallowing everything in its path. We didn't know about the recent flooding in the area, and now we were literally in the thick of it. Gabe and I shot each other a look and said, “Oh, shoot.” Within seconds, our car was rolling 900 feet down the cliff side. I don't know how long we were not in consciousness, but I woke up to the sound of Gabe crying. He was trapped under the steering wheel and his blood was everywhere. The car had landed on a small ledge (岩壁) amid trees that had come down with the slide. On one side of us was the mountain. On the other, a steep drop of about 3,000 feet into a river. I tried opening my door but failed. In addition, my left ankle had been crushed and my foot was practically turned sideways. Gabe had broken his cheek bones, as well as his orbital bones, leaving him blind in his left eye. With the passenger and driver's side doors crushed shut, and my window impassable, the only way out was to go through the driver's side window. We both managed to crawl out of that wreckage. We had no phone signal, and it was 900 feet straight up back to the highway. All we could do was yell for help. Incredibly, someone responded. ______________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ By the time we reached the highway, Gabe was in shock. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 周周练 On possible version: Incredibly, someone responded. Four bystanders had spotted our car and tried to reach us. Once they arrived, two of the men helped Gabe up the hill. Because my foot was injured, the other two had to carry me, with one man holding my legs. It was tough going. They went as far as they could when one of them sank into the mud. They then passed me off to the other two men who'd been helping Gabe. With their efforts, we were safe. By the time we reached the highway, Gabe was in shock. He kept slipping in and out of consciousness. I didn't think I'd ever see my friend again. Gabe was eventually sent to a nearby hospital to receive an urgent operation. Luckily, Gabe was saved, though he permanently lost the vision in his left eye. As for me, I was released ten days after my surgeon reconnected the main bone in my left foot. We suffered a lot, but we're still grateful to be alive. The experience also bonded us tightly.
