I took a deep breath and filled it out, determined to face my fear. I knew this was a chance to prove to myself that I could achieve something I never thought possible.   Soon, I jumped into weeks of preparation. Every day, I spent hours in the gym, following Emily’s strict workout plan. I also paid close attention to my diet, making sure I got the right nutrients. As the show day drew near, I felt a mix of excitement and nervousness. But with Emily’s constant encouragement and support, I felt more and more confident. Finally, the big day arrived, and I stepped onto the stage, ready to show the world what I’d accomplished. Here are some mind-bending facts about yoga. Vinyasa yoga, also called flow, is one of the most popular styles in the West. It focuses on linking a series of poses with the breath at a quick, smooth pace. Ashtanga is like Vinyasa, but more structured: it is made up of a series of poses done in the same order every time. Hot yoga is performed in a room heated between 33-40℃. The heat is said to increase vitality, flexibility and kilojoule (千焦尔) burn. Already into yoga and looking to change up your practice? Try one of the many modern yoga variations, such as Aerial and Animal yoga. Aerial yoga involves hanging from a silk swing attached to the ceiling; it reduces joint pressure that some people feel while doing floor poses. Animal yoga, on the other hand, is less about mastering poses and more about decreasing stress and boosting your mood by practicing alongside puppies, goats and even horses. Savasana looks simple, but it can be difficult to master, as it calls for a state of calm. Typically the final position of a yoga class, the purpose of this pose is to allow your practice to settle in your mind and body, and it’s ideally done for at least five minutes. After that, you and your classmates typically acknowledge each other with a greeting that even non-yogis know: Namaste. 21.Why is Ashtanga more structured than Vinyasa? A.It consists of a fixed order of poses. B.It emphasizes slow movements. C.It is practiced in a hot environment. D.It does not link poses with breath. 22.Which helps to ease stress on joints? A.Vinyasa yoga. B.Hot yoga. C.Aerial yoga. D.Animal yoga. 23.What is the aim of the final position in a yoga class? A.To boost overall vitality and flexibility. B.To acknowledge each other’s progress. C.To prepare for subsequent yoga sessions. D.To integrate practice into mind and body. 根据第二段“Ashtanga is like Vinyasa, but more structured: it is made up of a series of poses done in the same order every time.(阿斯汤加就像串联体式,但更有条理:它由一系列姿势组成,每次都以同样的顺序完成)”可知,阿斯汤加比串联体式更有条理因为它由固定的姿势顺序组成。故选A。 22. 根据第三段“Aerial yoga involves hanging from a silk swing attached to the ceiling; it reduces joint pressure that some people feel while doing floor poses.(空中瑜伽包括悬挂在天花板上的丝绸秋千上;它减少了一些人在做地板姿势时感受到的关节压力)”可知,空中瑜伽有助于缓解关节的压力。故选C。 23. 根据最后一段“Typically the final position of a yoga class, the purpose of this pose is to allow your practice to settle in your mind and body, and it’s ideally done for at least five minutes.(这通常是瑜伽课的最后一个姿势,这个姿势的目的是让你的练习在你的思想和身体中安定下来,最好至少做五分钟)”可知,瑜伽课最后一个体式的目的是将练习融入身心。故选D。 B Rock climbing is a sport that you use ropes and other equipment to climb up a rock face, either outdoors or an artificial one indoors. Luca, who is 17, loves it because, he says, “you have got to solve problems with your friends.” Luca especially enjoys outdoor climbing because it’s a chance to interact with the environment. He’s been researching how his hobby impacts nature since he was 14 and wants to promote sustainable rock climbing. This means “climbing in a way that in 20 years, the same outdoor routes will still be in use,” he says. The cliffs people climb are home to lots of plants and birds, and when climbers make their way up, they can disturb nests and damage delicate ecosystems (communities of living things). Luca says he spotted damage when he saw the difference between climbing routes and the rock next to it. “One was green, and the other was relatively bare,” he says. Every outdoor climber can help, Luca believes. Students’ Weekly asked Luca for his top tips. He advises following marked trails (小径), respecting wildlife and leaving no trace. This means making sure you don’t leave rubbish or equipment behind. Luca began rock climbing in a school club and now enjoys climbing in the UK and abroad, including Spain. His advice for anyone wanting to try climbing is “have as much fun as possible and making sure you climb with your friends.” 24.What can we learn about Luca from the text? A.He loves team sports. B.He likes a quiet life. C.He is fond of travels. D.He is a nature lover. 25.What does the underlined word “sustainable” mean in Paragraph 2? A.Lasting. B.Outdoors C.Relaxing. D.Changeable. 26.What is Luca’s advice to outdoor climbers? A.Not to make any marks on the rock surface. B.To keep their climbing a secret from others. C.Not to leave litter about on climbing routes. D.To do climbing at night to avoid being seen. 27.What does Luca highlight (强调) in his advice in the last paragraph? A.Help from friends. B.Open-mindedness. C.Personal interests. D.Self-confidence. 根据第二段“Luca especially enjoys outdoor climbing because it’s a chance to interact with the environment. He’s been researching how his hobby impacts nature since he was 14 and wants to promote sustainable rock climbing.(Luca特别喜欢户外攀岩,因为这是一个与自然环境互动的机会。他从14岁起就开始研究自己的爱好对自然的影响,并希望推广可持续的攀岩运动。)”可知,Luca热爱自然,是一个自然爱好者。故选D。 25.词句猜测题。根据第二段“This means “climbing in a way that in 20 years, the same outdoor routes will still be in use,” he says.(他说:“这意味着以一种20年后,同样的户外路线仍然可以使用的方式去攀岩。”)” 故选A。 26. 根据第四段“He advises following marked trails (小径), respecting wildlife and leaving no trace. This means making sure you don’t leave rubbish or equipment behind.(他建议沿着标记的小径行走,尊重野生动物,不留痕迹。这意味着确保你不会留下垃圾或装备。)”可知,Luca的建议包括不在攀岩路线上乱扔垃圾。故选C。 27.细节理解题。根据最后一段“His advice for anyone wanting to try climbing is “have as much fun as possible and making sure you climb with your friends.”(他对任何想尝试攀岩的人的建议是“尽可能享受乐趣,并确保和朋友一起攀岩。”)” A。 C Race walking shares many fitness benefits with running, research shows, while most likely contributing to fewer injuries. It does, however, have its own problem. Race walkers are conditioned athletes. The longest track and field event at the Summer Olympics is the 50-kilometer race walk, which is about five miles longer than the marathon. But the sport’s rules require that a race walker’s knees stay straight through most of the leg swing and one foot remain in contact (接触) with the ground at all times. However, it’s this strange form that makes race walking such an attractive activity, says Jaclyn Norberg, an assistant professor of exercise science at Salem State University in Salem, Mass. Like running, race walking is physically demanding, she says. According to most calculations, race walkers moving at a pace of six miles per hour would burn about 800 calories (卡路里) per hour, which is approximately twice as many as they would burn when walking, although fewer than running, which would probably burn about 1,000 or more calories per hour. However, race walking does not pound the body as much as running does, Dr. Norberg says. In her research, runners hit the ground with as much as four times their body weight per step, while race walkers, who do not leave the ground, create only about 1.4 times their body weight with each step. As a result, she says, some of the injuries associated with running, such as runner’s knee, are uncommon among race walkers. But the sport’s strange form does place considerable stress on the ankles and hips, so people with a history of such injuries might want to be cautious in adopting the sport. In fact, anyone wishing to try race walking should probably first consult a coach or experienced racer to learn proper technique, she says. It takes some practice. 28.Why are race walkers conditioned athletes? A.They must run long distances. B.They have to follow special rules. C.They are qualified for the marathon. D.They are good at swinging their legs. 29.What advantage does race walking have over running? A.It’s more popular at the Olympics. B.It’s less challenging physically. C.It’s less likely to cause knee injuries. D.It’s more effective in body building. 30.What is Dr. Norberg’s suggestion for someone trying race walking? A.Doing regular exercises. B.Having a medical checkup. C.Hiring an experienced coach. D.Getting experts’ opinions. 31.What’s the best title of the passage? A.Race Walking: Fitness Benefits and Form Challenges B.Running VS. Race Walking: Which Burns More Calories? C.Avoiding Injuries: Why Race Walking Might be safer Than Running? 根据文章第二段中的“But the sport’s rules require that a race walker’s knees stay straight through most of the leg swing and one foot remain in contact (接触) with the ground at all times. However, it’s this strange form that makes race walking such an attractive activity, says Jaclyn Norberg, an assistant professor of exercise science at Salem State University in Salem, Mass. 根据文章最后一段中的“As a result, she says, some of the injuries associated with running, such as runner’s knee, are uncommon among race walkers. (因此,她说,跑步时的一些伤害,例如跑者膝关节损伤,在竞走运动员中并不常见。)”可知,与跑步相比,竞走不太容易导致膝盖受伤。 30.推理判断题。根据文章最后一段中的“In fact, anyone wishing to try race walking should probably first consult a coach or experienced racer to learn proper technique, she says. It takes some practice. (事实上,任何想尝试竞走的人最好先咨询教练或有经验的竞走选手,以学习正确的技巧,她说。这需要一些练习。)”可知,Norberg博士建议任何想尝试竞走的人都应该先咨询教练或有经验的选手,即获取专业人士的意见。 31.主旨大意题。根据文章第一段“Race walking shares many fitness benefits with running, research shows, while most likely contributing to fewer injuries. (研究表明,竞走与跑步在健身方面有许多相似之处,而且很可能有助于减少受伤。)”可知,文章首先指出了竞走与跑步一样具有健身益处,以及第三段中“Like running, race walking is physically demanding, she says. (她说,跑步和竞走一样,对身体要求很高。)”以及最后一段中“But the sport’s strange form does place considerable stress on the ankles and hips, so people with a history of such injuries might want to be cautious in adopting the sport. (但这项运动的特殊形式会对踝关节和髋部造成相当大的压力,因此有此类伤病史的人在尝试这项运动时应格外谨慎。)”可知,文章接着分析了其特殊的运动形式带来的挑战,如对脚踝和髋部的压力以及需要专业指导等。因此,A选项“Race Walking: Fitness Benefits and Form Challenges (竞走:健身益处与形式挑战)”最能全面概括文章主旨,符合题意。 D If you want to be healthier this year, here is some encouraging news. Small changes to your sleep, diet, and exercise habits could have the potential to extend your life by approximately one year, according to researcher Nicholas Koemel from the University of Sydney. To reach this conclusion, Koemel and his team examined data from nearly 60,000 adults aged 40 to 69. The participants reported their eating habits and wore activity trackers for a week to record their sleep and exercise. Then the researchers followed their health for eight years. The team identified the least healthy 5% of participants, who slept only about 5 hours a day, exercised just 5 minutes daily, and had poor diets. Using a statistical model, the researchers estimated that individuals who added a little more sleep, exercise, and vegetables lived a year longer than the least healthy group. Interestingly, making these small combined changes was as effective as making a much larger change in only one area. For example, sleeping 25 minutes more without changing diet or exercise produced the same effect. The findings support a second study published this week that analyzed death rate and exercise data from more than 40,000 people, aged 64 on average, across Norway, Sweden and the US. Ulf Ekelund in Norway and his colleagues fed this data into a statistical model and predicted that, if the vast majority of the population in those countries — except for the most active 20 percent of people — engaged in an extra 5 minutes of exercise per day, about 10 percent of deaths could be prevented in the following eight years, on average. Both studies have limitations, however. People may not accurately remember what they ate, and one week of activity data may not reflect their lifelong habits. Still, the message remains clear: small steps can lead to big benefits. 32.How did the researchers reach the conclusion? A.By making use of a sleeping model. B.By analyzing adults’ medical records. C.By examining data and tracking health. D.By comparing habits in different groups. 33.What can be inferred from the example in paragraph 3? A.Sleeping 25 minutes more reduces one year of life. B.Five minutes of daily exercise can replace poor diets. C.Small changes can match a big one for health benefits. D.A big single change is better than small combined ones. 34.What can be predicted from the second study? A.Extra 5 minutes of exercise per day avoid death. B.Extra sleep is more effective than extra exercise. C.People over 60 benefit more from small changes. D.The most active 20% of people need more exercise. 35.What does the passage try to tell us? A.No pain, no gain. B.Every little bit counts. C.It’s never too late to mend. When I was too tired to make myself dinner, I’d just eat the kids’ leftover cereal (麦片粥). I thought this was a great plan to lose some weight and called it the “Cereal for Diet.” Back then,I knew nothing about nutrition. Of course, the Cereal for Diet failed, as did all my other attempts. One day, after cleaning up all the mess my kids had made, I went out for a walk. I passed a gym. I looked away.Healthy people went there, but this was not me. While turning away,I saw an ad for a six-month fitness challenge. I continued my fast walk in the opposite direction, but that sign just stayed on my mind. I still remember what finally motivated me to sign up for the challenge. It was a ten-minute period in which my son threw his spaghetti plate straight up, sending noodles and sauce flying everywhere. As soon as my husband got home,I said, “You’re in charge.” I made a beeline for the gym, marched straight in and said, “Fix me.” And I was assigned a young and fit trainer, Emily. She asked what my goals were for the six-month challenge. At that moment, I was speechless. Noticing my embarrassment, Emily just handed me the heaviest weights I had in my life and said, “Okay, so in six months you will compete in a body-building show.” I tried explaining, “No, I don’t want to do a show. That sounds scary.” She ignored my fear, and we jumped into strict workouts and nutrition planning. Over the next six months, Emily forced me to focus on myself — my wants and my needs. I learned to see food as strength and sweat as progress. I learned how to fuel my body instead of starving it, balancing proteins, carbs, and fats. Emily pushed me past my limits, correcting my form, timing my breaks, and cheering me on when I wanted to quit. I improved every day in the gym. One day, Emily handed me an application form. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Soon, I jumped into weeks of preparation. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【参考范文】 One day, Emily handed me an application form. “You’re ready,” she said with a confident smile. 词汇激活 行为类 ①深呼吸:take a deep breath/breathe deeply ②关注:pay attention to/focus on/concentrate on ③确保:make sure/ensure/guarantee 情绪类 ①紧张:nervousness/anxiety ②自信的:confident/self-assured 【点睛】【高分句型1】My heart raced as I looked at the form, but then I thought of all the progress I’d made.(运用了as引导的时间状语从句,that或which引导的限定性定语从句,that或which被省略) 【高分句型2】Finally, the big day arrived, and I stepped onto the stage, ready to show the world what I’d accomplished.(运用了what引导的宾语从句) ( 19 / 20 )学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $听力考试正式开始。Hello, Betty. B Rock climbing is a sport that you use ropes and other equipment to climb up a rock face, either outdoors or an artificial one indoors. C Race walking shares many fitness benefits with running, research shows, while most likely contributing to fewer injuries. D.The Unusual Feature of Race Walking D If you want to be healthier this year, here is some encouraging news. D.Where there is a will, there is a way. Staying fit is a great way to improve your mood and physical health. When I was too tired to make myself dinner, I’d just eat the kids’ leftover cereal (麦片粥). I thought this was a great plan to lose some weight and called it the “Cereal for Diet.” Back then, I knew nothing about nutrition. Of course, the Cereal for Diet failed, as did all my other attempts. One day, after cleaning up all the mess my kids had made, I went out for a walk. I passed a gym. I looked away. Healthy people went there, but this was not me. While turning away, I saw an ad for a six-month fitness challenge. B Rock climbing is a sport that you use ropes and other equipment to climb up a rock face, either outdoors or an artificial one indoors. C Race walking shares many fitness benefits with running, research shows, while most likely contributing to fewer injuries. D.The Unusual Feature of Race Walking D If you want to be healthier this year, here is some encouraging news. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 试题 第3页(共8页) 试题 第4页(共8页) 试题 第1页(共8页) 试题 第2页(共8页) 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
