周周练
(Text 4)
M:It's almost time for exams. Are you ready, Anna? I've been studying for hours. But I still feel stressed.
W:Me, too! But I'm confident about my math test. I'm good at math. But I am worried about chemistry.④ I need to study my notes more.
周周练
(Text 5)
W:Honey, could you go and fetch my new dress?
M:You bought three new dresses last week. Which one do you want to wear today?
W:I've already worn the black one and the blue one, so I'll wear the red one to Lisa's birthday party today.⑤
周周练
(Text 6)
M:Hello? This is the vehicle repair center. Your car is ready to be picked up.⑥
W:That's great! I just got home and was about to call about the same thing.⑥
M:We replaced one of the wheels. You may want to consider getting an oil change soon. It's okay for now, but I recommend it.
周周练
W:If you think I should do it soon, would you be able to do it now?
M:That wouldn't be a problem. I can add that service to your bill. It will cost $115 and your car will be ready in the evening.⑦
W:Oh no, I think I'll have to save it for another time. I need to pick up my kids this afternoon.⑦
周周练
(Text 7)
M:Jean, it's Saturday tomorrow.⑧ How about going fishing on the river nearby with me?
W:I'd like to, but I've promised Linda I would go swimming with her tomorrow.⑨
M:Where will you swim? In the lake?
W:No. The lake is too deep. We'll swim in the swimming pool in Linda's garden.
M:Who else will go?
周周练

M:May I join you? I also like swimming.
W:But don't you want to go fishing tomorrow?

周周练

W:Today we are talking to Doctor Raymond, an expert on teenage health. Doctor, what is the most important thing for teenagers who want to be healthy?⑩⑫
M:Exercise, and lots of it. A teenager needs about an hour of good exercise every day.
W:That's a lot. Won't they get tired?
M:Not if they get enough sleep. A teenager needs about 9 hours a night. Good sleep and lots of exercise can improve the schoolwork, too!
周周练
W:Cool! What else?
M:It's amazing that many teenagers get sick because they don't wash their hands often enough. Always wash hands before a meal and after being outside.⑪
W:What about food?
M:Of course it's important to eat well.
W:So, no fast food?
M:Well, fast food can be OK sometimes. But don't eat it every day.
周周练

W:That's right. Now I'm teaching English in a middle school.⑭
M:Why did you want to find a teaching job here?
周周练
W:Well, my husband Mark didn't want to live in New York. He wanted to move to Paris, so I came with him.
M:What? When did you get married?
W:Last year.
M:Congratulations! We've been out of touch for two years.⑮ Many things have happened in the past two years.
W:That's right. So are you working here?
M:No.I'm just travelling here with my parents. I still work in Beijing.
W:How long are you going to work there?
M:I'll work there for one more year. Then I'll go back to New York.⑯

(Text 10)
M:Hello! I'm the winner of the English Contest for college students, Bob.⑰ Today I'd like to share my ways of learning English. First, look up new words wherever you meet them. This is the website where I often look up new words.⑱ Look up their meanings and write sentences using the words. Besides, use the words more in your spoken English if you can. Do you know how many words are there in English? Too many. Do you need to learn them all? Of course not. Just learn as
周周练
many as you can or at least the ones you meet more than once. Second, I strongly recommend that students find something in English to read for at least 30 minutes every day.⑲ And the idea is to read it aloud word for word. This is the way that we can develop a better sense of language. So I usually read about 5 articles every day.⑳ In short, the key is to keep reading. A short period is less effective.

Jamie Lynn Dorr is a loving mother. She faces the challenges of raising a son with autism (孤独症). Recently, she shared an amazing video online, which touched many people's hearts. The news is this: Her son's teacher is a perfect match for giving him part of her liver (肝脏), something he needs to live.
周周练
Four years ago Jamie moved to a new town. She had few friends, and her son, Bowen, needed all her attention. Then, a teacher named Holly Allgood came into their lives. She brought great kindness, support, and a friendship that would prove to be life-changing.
“If you know Holly, you know she is accommodating,” Jamie said. “From the moment we met, she continued to remind me that even on the hard days, we were not alone. She has caught so many of my tears, answered my late calls, and seen our worst moments. I sent my special-needs son to school because I knew Holly would care for him.”
周周练
When Bowen's health worsened, Holly did much more than her job required. She visited Bowen, video-called him from the hospital, and supported Jamie through this difficult time. Then came more bad news: Neither Jamie nor her husband could be liver donors (捐赠者). Without thinking twice, Holly offered to be tested as a donor, and she was a perfect match.
周周练
As Jamie wrote in her moving post, “Holly Allgood isn't just Bowen's teacher and our friend, but she is truly our hero. She is taking great risks to give Bowen a chance to live, and I am so thankful that Bowen will always carry a part of her with him.”

When I was a kid, my sister and I would fight all the time over nearly everything. But as we grew older, our bond strengthened by sharing secrets, offering advice and trading clothes.Having a sister by my side while growing up taught me many lessons about the unique bond.
周周练
And now, thanks to an 8-year-long study that's making the rounds on the Internet again, science is confirming what I know is true.In the study, researchers discovered that having an older or younger sister can help ease the anxiety for kids between the ages of 10 and 14. They also found that people with sisters can learn how to make up and to have control over their emotions again, which are skills that undoubtedly serve children well.
周周练
The revival of this study actually comes on the heels of another newer study, which shows that it's not just the older kids and parents who influence and shape children as they grow. It turns out that younger siblings (兄弟姐妹) do too, and what's more, they may also give their older siblings a greater chance of developing empathy (同情).
周周练
The Canadian study followed 452 pairs of siblings, all between a year-and-a-half and 4 years old.The researchers found that having a younger sibling increased the older sibling's level of empathy.
This research confirms that sisters are pretty amazing in making the world a much lovely place. As the mom of two boys, I often wonder what kinds of lessons they will learn from their younger sister.Perhaps they will be the same lessons I learned from mine that cooler heads always win. This study gives me hope that all those endless arguments between my kids may actually be laying the groundwork for conflict settlement skills.

Today's world is not an easy adjustment for young adults. A key skill set for success is persistence, a characteristic that researchers say is heavily influenced by fathers. Researchers from Brigham Young University discovered that fathers are in a unique position to help their adolescent children learn persistence.
周周练
BYU professors Laura Padilla-Walker and Randal Duy arrived at these findings after following 325 American families over several years. And over time, the persistence gained through fathers led to higher achievement in school.
“There are relatively few studies that stress the unique role of fathers,” Padilla-Walker said. “This research also helps to prove that characteristics such as persistence which can be taught are key to a child's life success.”
周周练
Researchers determined that dads need to practice an “authoritative” parenting style. Authoritative parenting is not authoritarian, strict, demanding or controlling. Rather, an authoritative parenting style includes some of the following characteristics: children feel warmth and love from their father; responsibility and the reasons behind rules are stressed; children are given a proper level of autonomy.

In the study, about 52 percent of the dads showed above-average levels of authoritative parenting. A key finding is that over time, children raised by an authoritative father were more likely to develop persistence, which led to better results in school.
This particular study examined 11-to 14-year-olds living in two-parent homes. Yet the researchers suggest that single parents still may play a role in teaching the benefits of persistence, which is an avenue (途径) of future research.

Dear Jack,
I was deeply concerned when I learned that you've been addicted to online games, which has affected your studies, relationships with your parents, and even your physical and mental health. I fully understand the attraction of these games, but it's crucial to find a balance.
周周练
Here are some suggestions: firstly, try to limit your gaming time and set a specific schedule. Secondly, engage in more outdoor activities or hobbies you enjoy to distract yourself. Lastly, communicate openly with your parents about your feelings and struggles; they'll surely understand and support you.

Remember, you have the strength to overcome this addiction. I believe in you and hope you'll soon regain control of your life. Take care!

第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面的材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
I never thought my father's job could change my life so much. One evening he came home and told us his company was sending him to another city. At first, I didn't worry, thinking it might be a short trip or just a small change. But then he added that because he and Mom would both be very busy, I would have to go to a boarding (寄宿) school. The word “boarding” made me unhappy. It meant leaving my neighborhood, my old school, and most of all, my best friend June.
周周练
June and I grew up together. We rode bikes in the summer, shared secrets at night, and laughed until our stomachs hurt. When I told her about the move, she tried to smile. “It's okay,” she said quickly. “We'll call every weekend. We'll always be best friends,” she added. I wanted to believe her, so I agreed, holding on to her promise. Still, deep inside, a small voice raised doubts: Would things really stay the same once I left?
周周练
The new school was nothing like home. The buildings were big, and the students all were friendly, but I still missed home and June. At Saturday night, I sat on my dormitory (学生宿舍) bed waiting for June's call. At first, we talked a lot, but soon our calls grew shorter. Sometimes she didn't answer right away. When she did, she often talked about a new student named Emily. “Emily is so cool,” June said once, laughing through the phone. I forced myself to laugh too, but inside I felt hurt.
周周练
I told myself I didn't care, but the truth was that I cared too much. I imagined Emily taking my place, walking beside June, and telling her jokes that used to be mine. I grew jealous (妒忌的). Soon I stopped answering her calls. I left her texts unread. At night, I cried quietly into my pillow, telling myself June didn't need me anymore.
注意:续写词数应为150个左右。
周周练
One Saturday morning, I heard my name called outside the dormitory.____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The next afternoon, I saw June off at the train station.______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
周周练
One possible version:
One Saturday morning, I heard my name called outside the dormitory. To my surprise, it was June, her eyes tired from the long journey. She told me she had been worried when I stopped answering her calls. After begging her parents for permission, she decided to visit me. Sitting together on the bench, she explained gently, “You and Emily are both my friends, but you are unique.” I heard those words, and my sadness melted away. The fear that had been pressing on me for weeks lifted, replaced by the warmth of knowing I still mattered to her.
周周练
The next afternoon, I saw June off at the train station. We stood there, not wanting to let go, our eyes filled with both sadness and hope. The train whistle blew, pulling us apart, but inside I felt steady. I knew distance would never break what we shared. There would be phone calls, messages, and visits, each one keeping our ties alive. Walking back alone, I realized true friendship is not measured by how often we are together, but by the certainty that we remain close, even miles apart.
