Smartphones are getting boring. The new models are either a bit faster or have better cameras, but they are basically no different from the ones already in our pockets. This is why scientists are hoping, and working for something new, something that will change our lives just as greatly as smartphones do. At the moment, the next invention might be smart glasses.
Just imagine. Instead of having to pick up your phone and look at the screen, all of the information you need simply appears just in front of you, in your glasses. Satellite navigation (导航) directions would appear right there on the road. And your smart glasses could guide you to the right shelf in the supermarket.
Smart glasses could also be used in industry. They could show engineers the instructions they need to fix things more quickly. A doctor could carry out a difficult operation (手术), guided in real time by someone on the other side of the world.
This may sound impossible. But most of the technologies to invent them are already there. For example, one key technology is called AR, which can make digital 3D object appear as if they are part of the real world. We’ve used it a lot on our video calls. Similarly, huge progress has been made in spatial audio (空间音频). This is when a sound is made to give it a sense of place, like what you hear in an empty room. Some high-end earphones (高端耳机) can already do that. Future glasses will of course need to recognize (识别) your voice to do tasks. This technology has been widely used in our daily life.
So, why aren’t we all wearing smart glasses yet? So far, no one has invented a good way to send images (图像) of our world onto glasses. However, with the rapid development of technology, smart glasses could arrive much sooner than we think.
59.Why does the writer mention smartphones in Paragraph 1?
A.To start a story. B.To explain an idea.
C.To introduce a topic. D.To discuss a problem.
60.What are Paragraphs 2 and 3 mainly about?
A.When smart glasses might be made. B.Where smart glasses could be used.
C.Why smart glasses should be changed. D.How smart glasses would give directions.
61.Which of the following technologies needs to be improved to invent smart glasses?
A.Making spatial audio. B.Recognizing voices.
C.Creating digital 3D objects. D.Sending images onto glasses.
62.How might the writer feel about the future of smart glasses?
A.Bored. B.Satisfied. C.Confident. D.Uncertain.

The world felt greatly sad about the loss of a legendary (传奇的) scientist, Dr. Jane Goodall. On October 1, 2025, the founder of the Jane Goodall Institute and a United Nations Messenger of Peace passed away peacefully in California, at the age of 91.
Born in London in 1934, Jane Goodall spent her whole life studying chimpanzees (黑猩猩) in Africa. In 1960, she traveled to Tanzania to observe chimpanzees’ behavior. In the jungles of Gombe, with her amazing patience and sharp ability to notice things, she bridged the gap (隔阂) between humans and animals. She named chimpanzees, such as Fifi, Flo, and David Greybeard, rather than numbering them. At that time, this was regarded as an unscientific way. Her scientific discoveries shocked the world. She found that chimpanzees use tools to catch insects, eat meat, and even show feelings similar to those of humans. These findings changed how people understood animals and nature. Her research showed that humans are not the only species able to use tools, which renewed biology textbooks worldwide.
Beyond science, she became a person who worked hard to protect the environment. In 1977, she founded the Jane Goodall Institute to save wildlife habitats (栖息地) and educate people about nature. Her Roots & Shoots program inspires young people in over 120 countries to protect animals and the planet.
The United Nations honored her as a Messenger of Peace in 2002 for her lifelong efforts. Even at 90, she traveled 300 days a year to speak about climate change and animal protection. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said, “Jane Goodall’s work teaches us to care for all living beings. Her legacy (遗产) will live forever.”
66.When did Jane Goodall pass away?

C.In 2002 at the UN. D.In 2025 in California.
67.What was Jane Goodall’s shocking discovery about chimpanzees?
A.Chimpanzees could be given numbers instead of names.
B.Chimpanzees use tools, eat meat and have human-like feelings.
C.Chimpanzees are the only species that can bridge the gap between humans and animals.
D.Chimpanzees are the most important part of the Roots & Shoots program.
68.What can we infer from the fact that Jane Goodall traveled 300 days a year even at 90?
A.She had no interest in staying at home.
B.She was devoted to environmental protection.
C.She was required to do more work by the Jane Goodall Institute.
D.She wanted to get more rewards from the United Nations.
69.What is the passage about?
A.The history of the Jane Goodall Institute and the Roots & Shoots program.
B.Jane Goodall’s childhood experiences and her love for chimpanzees.
C.The shocking scientific discoveries Jane Goodall made in Africa.
D.Jane Goodall’s life achievements and her great influence on the world.

Have you ever heard of futurists? Their job is to predict the future. Ray Hammond, famous in Europe, has studied how future changes will influence society for over 30 years. What does he think our world will be like in 2040?
In health, we will wear sensors (传感器) to check our blood pressure, blood sugar and oxygen levels all the time. With new treatments and medicines, many of us will live well beyond 100 and look young even in our nineties.
For traffic, most cars will be self-driving and run on electricity. We can only drive cars in special racing places. Air travel won’t change much — electric and self-flying planes will still be experimental. But we may travel by hyperloops at 1,100 km/h, making a trip from Shanghai to San Francisco take only nine hours.
In entertainment, we will spend most time in virtual (虚拟的) worlds, experiencing them as real instead of looking at a screen. We will hardly meet people in real life and may find it strange to do so.
70.How long has Ray Hammond studied future changes?
A.For over 20 years. B.For over 30 years.
C.For over 40 years. D.For over 50 years.
71.What is the main idea of the second paragraph?
A.Future health changes. B.Health-checking sensors.
C.Useful new medicines. D.Predictions in 100 years.
72.What does the underlined word “them” refer to in Paragraph 4?

I grew up downtown. Back then, my favorite reward (奖励) for good grades was riding a bike with my dad to the city center — those tall buildings, with their dark brown windows, felt like symbols of hope. Those trips became my happiest childhood memories.
Now I’m 24, and I’ve turned that childhood love into a passion (热情). I’m a photographer who’s traveled to 210 cities across 29 provinces to take photos of old buildings. These buildings have colorful glass walls and windows of different shapes. Everything shows the hopeful spirit of the past. To afford these trips, I stay in cheap hostels (旅社) and eat street food, spending only about 60 yuan a day.
My photos soon got 160,000 followers online. Fans often leave words like, “Your work brings back my carefree childhood.” For me, these old buildings hold our shared memories. I tell people, “These buildings carry the hope of the past, and that warmth helps us look forward to a better future.”

【答案】59.C 60.B 61.D 62.C

【详解】59.推理判断题。根据第一段“This is why scientists are hoping, and working for something new, something that will change our lives just as greatly as smartphones do. At the moment, the next invention might be smart glasses.”可知,作者写道智能手机是为了能引出智能眼镜的话题。故选C。
60.主旨大意题。根据第二段“Just imagine. Instead of having to pick up your phone and look at the screen, all of the information you need simply appears just in front of you, in your glasses.”及第三段“Smart glasses could also be used in industry.”可知,2和3段主要讲智能眼镜的使用场所,即可以用在生活和工业等领域。故选B。
61.细节理解题。根据最后一段“So far, no one has invented a good way to send images of our world onto glasses.”可知,目前智能眼镜的技术瓶颈是“将现实世界的图像投射到眼镜上”,这项技术需要改进。故选D。
62.推理判断题。根据最后一段“However, with the rapid development of technology, smart glasses could arrive much sooner than we think.”可知,作者认为随着科技的发展,智能眼镜可能会比我们想象的更快到来,即对智能眼镜的前景是比较有信心的。故选C。

A.In 1934 in London. B.In 1960 in Tanzania.

A.Cars. B.Self-flying planes. C.Virtual worlds. D.Sensors.

73.Who took the writer to see the tall buildings as a reward? (不超过5个词)
74.What does the writer do?(不超过5个词)

A.In 1934 in London. B.In 1960 in Tanzania.

A.Cars. B.Self-flying planes. C.Virtual worlds. D.Sensors.
