B On a cold Wednesday morning, Xu Wei, who is visually impaired (受损的), joined 40 other attendees to “watch” the film called One and Only. The experience inside the room differed from a regular movie showing. During gaps between dialogue and sound in the film, detailed audio descriptions explained what was happening — describing the scenery, the action and even the body language. The version screened for these attendees was created by Guangming Cinema. Since it was founded in 2017, the volunteer-driven organization has involved over 800 teachers and students in producing, promoting, and distributing accessible films. To adapt a single 90-minute movie, the team begins by watching it ten times, carefully studying every detail. Only then do they draft audio guidance, typically 20,000 to 30,000 characters long, and bring an accessible version of the movie to life. It is never easy to “tell” a movie to those with vision loss. Hu Fang, a project volunteer, was once asked by a child, “What is the color red?” This question revealed how little sighted narrators understand about the experience of visually impaired moviegoers. From then on, Hu’s team ensured their descriptions fit the film and reflected how the world is perceived through sound. Over the years, the team have organized many screenings nationwide. To reach more audiences, they work closely with local disability organizations and schools. They provide the movies and support, while partners host the screenings and connect with local audiences. These screenings offer more than movies — they also deliver a valuable social experience. “Accessible cinema adds color to our lives and gives us a reason to go out. Chatting with other friends at these events is enjoyable, and it also gives us more to talk about with sighted people,” said Xu Wei. Looking ahead, Xu hopes that increased accessible guidance will allow people with various disabilities to better enjoy films, exhibitions, museums and other cultural experiences, giving everyone equal access to the arts. 24. What can we learn about Xu Wei from paragraph 1? A. He worked as a narrator for the blind. B. He discovered a film’s deeper significance. C. He enjoyed a standard opera screening. D. He watched a film with audio descriptions. 25. What did Hu Fang and her team do after hearing the child’s question? A. They learned how to tell the color. B. They changed their narration way. C. They gave priority to others’ feelings. D. They took the description of colors seriously. 26. What can be inferred from Xu Wei’s words in paragraph 4? A. Audio descriptions still need improvement. B. Accessible cinemas should be more widespread. C. Screening events help build social connections. D. Sighted people lack awareness of the blind’s needs. 27. What is the main idea of the text? A. Volunteers’ filmmaking faces many challenges. B. A movie theater is strongly supporting the disabled. C. Audio descriptions explain movie dialogues clearly. D. A cinema enables visually-impaired audience to watch films. C The findings of a new study draw a question mark over vertical (垂直的) farming’s prospects, showing in lettuce (生菜) farm experiments that vertical agriculture had higher environmental impacts than conventional agriculture in all but one category. The researchers analyzed the environmental impacts of each farm, looking at the land, water, and fuel use, as well as emissions. Beyond water-efficiency, the benefits of the vertical lettuce farms became less clear. Most striking was the large emissions footprint of vertical farms, which was bigger compared to all the field farms. In some cases, vertical farming produced eight times more emissions than the most impactful farm field, generating 4.71 kilograms of carbon dioxide per kilogram of lettuce, compared to just 0.59 kilos on field farms. These figures were even more striking when considering that vertical farms were being compared with fields where there is plenty of emissions-heavy activity: from fuel to fertilizers, and the substantial soil emissions from crop production on fields. And yet, all this was overshadowed by the enormous amounts of electricity required to keep vertical lettuce farms well-lit, heated, and cooled — this is mainly what made their energy use so high. Beyond emissions, the most surprising result was that vertical farms had a greater land-use impact than field farms. This comes down to the plants’ roots. In vertical farms, lettuce plants are often sown in natural casings made of jute (黄麻) fibers, which come from a tall grass crop grown in tropical regions. One solution could be to replace jute with coir — a similar fibrous material from coconuts — the research team says. This change would reduce these large land-use impacts, bringing them far below those of field farms. If vertical lettuce farming could cut its other land-use impacts, this ability to save land could be a huge help for nature — freeing up farmland to restore wild habitats. But to compete with field farming effectively, vertical farms must cut their energy use and rethink the materials they rely on. 28. In which environmental aspect did vertical farming perform better? A. Land conservation. B. Water usage. C. Carbon absorption. D. Biodiversity protection. 29. What are primarily responsible for vertical farms’ energy intensity? A. Automated collection systems. B. Water circulation mechanisms. C. Temperature and lighting regulation. D. Nutrient manufacturing processes. 30. Why does the author mention tropical regions? A. To highlight jute’s geographical limitations. B. To indicate all materials must be imported. C. To imply climate determines farming success. D. To suggest vertical farms work better in tropics. 31. What is the author’s attitude towards the future of vertical farming? A. Entirely enthusiastic. B. Strongly skeptical. C. Completely indifferent. D. Cautiously optimistic. D Globally there’re hundreds of cases in lawcourts against fossil fuel companies and other major emitters for climate-related damages. But without a full chain to link emissions from a particular fossil fuel firm to a specific damage, they have reasons for denial. Now researchers have developed a new method to tie greenhouse gas emissions from individual firms to specific climate-related economic harm. Justin Mankin from Dartmouth College and his colleague Christopher Callahan at Stanford University developed a technique to link each of the world’s five largest fossil fuel companies to the loss in global income over three decades. The pair say it could be a potential boost to lawsuits aiming to hold emitters responsible for damage caused by climate change. However, legal and political questions remain. The pair built on several recent advances in attribution science (归因科学). First, they simulated (模拟) global average temperatures between 1991 and 2020, both with and without the emissions of the fuel from a particular fossil fuel company. They focused on changes in temperature on the five hottest days of the year in locations found to be directly linked to declines in economic growth, for instance by increasing deaths, damaging crops and reducing labour productivity. Comparing the results with and without a particular company’s emissions enabled them to quantitate some of the economic harm resulting from that company’s activities. The pair’s approach also enabled them to look at individual companies’ roles in worsening specific heatwaves. Making the link between specific emitters and damage could decide who should pay, but even the study’s authors point out that attribution research won’t win the cases on its own. There’s no guarantee a court would accept the details of this method, says Myles at the University of Oxford, who proposed more than 20 years ago that climate science may make it possible to charge emitters. “The courts may not accept evidence of a statistical link between the change of annual average temperature and the impacts of specific emissions.” 32. What is the significance of the new method? A. It links the emissions to economic loss. B. It promotes firms to stop emissions. C. It shows global income loss from 1900. D. It confirms the amount of fossil fuel used. 33. How was the research conducted? A. By tracking profits and emissions. B. By analyzing economic growth rate. C. By examining economic effects of heat. D. By studying temperature in rich regions. 34. What does the underlined word “quantitate” in paragraph 3 mean? A. Prevent. B. Access. C. Summarize. D. Specify. 35. What do Myles’ words imply? A. Statistical climate evidence is lacking. B. Climate cases won’t be easily won. C. Fossil companies proves to be guilty. D. Heat impacts are unrelated to emissions. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Plan what to pack before you fly can save you time and money. The following useful tips will help make your next trip a breeze. Pack “double duty” clothes. If you want to travel light, simplify your suitcase to include items that can serve more than one purpose. Pack one pair of jeans and one pair of black pants that can be dressed up or down. 36 And one dressy shirt will meet your needs when going out at night. For more formal occasions, add a black dress, scarf and heels, while a smart blazer (西装外套) should work for men. Keep kids occupied and other passengers happy. 37 People get angry when there is a screaming kid, especially when they’re trying to sleep. To keep kids and passengers happy, pack a new toy. Some parents make gift bags for the passengers seated next to them — including packaged sweets, earplugs and an explanatory note. 38 Weather and mechanical problems are some of the reasons flights get delayed. To prepare for the possibility of delays, you should pack some snacks. For international flights with liquid restrictions, you could bring along an empty water bottle and fill it at a water fountain. Other items to consider include some emergency medicines. 39 Be smart with your electronics. Travelling with too many devices can seriously weigh you down. Determining whether you can or cannot live without your mobile phone, laptop, and headphones is a personal decision. 40 It is recommended to keep all of your cords (电源线) and a portable charger wrapped neatly in a small container. A. Be prepared for delays. B. Figure out the reason for delay. C. A couple of T-shirts is all you need for casual wear. D. Parents need to be prepared when travelling with kids. E. But at least you should make all of your devices organized. F. Different kinds of shoes take up so much room in the suitcase. G. It’s also necessary to know your rights as a passenger if the flight is delayed. 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 Every summer, an average of 37 children die in hot cars in the US. This decorative art form 56 (involve) attaching thin copper wires to a metal surface to form patterns, which are then filled with colorful enamel. The piece 57 (fire) multiple times to achieve its brilliant finish. The technique first reached China from the Middle East during 58 Yuan Dynasty. However, it was during the reign of Emperor Jingtai in the Ming Dynasty that the craft truly flourished. The deep blue enamel produced during this period was so 59 (impress) that the art form became forever associated with his reign name, giving it 60 (it) Chinese name “jingtailan”. Creating a cloisonne piece is a highly complex process, 61 requires tremendous skill. Artisans must first hammer the copper into the desired shape. Then, they carefully bend thin copper wires 62 (fit) the design and solder (焊接) them onto the surface. Each small section, or “cloisons” in French, is then filled with enamel paste. The piece must be fired at precise temperatures 63 cooled repeatedly until the enamel settles perfectly. Finally, the surface is polished until smooth and shiny, 64 (reveal) the brilliant colors and delicate wire lines. Today, cloisonne remains one of China’s most cherished crafts. It appears in museums worldwide and continues to be produced in workshops across the country. Modern artists experiment with new designs while honoring these traditional 65 (technique), ensuring this ancient craft lives on. Dear Chris, ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Yours, Li Hua 第二节(满分25分) 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 The morning was lovely. I could hear birds singing outside. Inside, the room was bathed in sunshine. Before rushing to the kitchen, I stretched a little and enjoyed the peace. There were many things waiting — a water bottle to fill, a lunch box to pack. Soon, my son Tom got up, sleepy-eyed but full of spirit. Then he got ready for school while I moved around the kitchen. After Tom left for school, the house fell into a soft quietness again. It was a typical day, I believed. When Tom returned that afternoon, his energy was still full. He dropped his bag and rushed toward me. “Mom! Do you know what happened today?” he said breathlessly. “How would I know, Tom?” I smiled, gently moving his hair aside. “Today, I roasted (严厉批评) my classmate Linda! And the whole class burst into laughter and clapped for me!” he said, pride spreading across his face. I could see his joy. Being a mother, I always want to understand what lies beneath his victories and struggles. “Tell me everything,” I said, setting aside my cup of tea. “Linda was mean,” he began. “She made fun of my friend and we all thought she was so rude. I couldn’t let her get away with that. So, I jumped in and answered rudeness with rudeness. And the class went wild! Everyone started cheering!” he said proudly. I looked at him, smiling faintly but a little unsettled. “Are you happy with what you said?” I asked. He looked puzzled. “Yes, Mom! She started it!” “Don’t you think you might have hurt her?” I said softly. “Girls in our class aren’t soft and they’re louder than us!” He continued to explain. “But if someone spoke to me like that, even if they started it, I would feel hurt,” I replied gently. There was a long pause. He looked down. “Really, Mom?” he asked softly. “Yes, I would feel hurt too.” I said. He didn’t say more that evening. The pride in his eyes disappeared and was replaced by thoughtful silence. 注意: 1.续写词数应为150个左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题纸的相应位置作答。 The next day when he returned, he came running into the kitchen. ___________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ I dropped what I was doing and hugged him tightly. ______________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
