Think about this question: “Is it still necessary to memorize things when they can be found online?” What is your opinion?
It is necessary to memorize things.
It is not necessary
to memorize things.
While-project
Debate topic
Is it still necessary to memorize things when they can be found online?
Side A:
We need to memorize things.
Side B :
We don’t need to memorize things.
While-project
4b
Form two groups based on different opinions. Add at least three reasons to support your opinion.
Opinion
Reason
We need to memorize things.
We don’t need to memorize things.
Memorizing things trains our brain.
Everything we need is already online.
If we memorize things, we can use them right away.
Memorizing things takes up too much time.
Sometimes online information is lost.
What will we do then?
Thinking skills are much important than memory.
While-project
We need to memorize things.
①Memorizing things deepens our understanding of the information.
②Memorizing makes our thinking faster.
③Memorizing helps us get good grades
We don’t need to memorize things.
①Information changes too fast.
②The process of memorizing things makes us feel stressed easily.
③Memorizing things limits(限制)creative thinking
While-project

Use examples and data to support your opinions.
We need to memorize things.
First, memorizing things trains our brain. Just like exercise makes our body healthy, memorizing things makes our brain more active. A student who memorizes poems, formulas(公式) or historical events can think more clearly.
Second, memorizing helps us get good grades. Studies show that students who review and memorize key points regularly can get 20% to 30% higher scores in exams. For example, if we memorize English words and grammar rules every day, we can read faster and write better compositions(作文).

论据
We don’t need to memorize things.
First, too much blind memorizing stops our creative thinking. Just like storing useless goods fills up a room and leaves no room for new things, mindless memorizing leaves little space for independent thinking. A student who only memorizes knowledge without true understanding can hardly come up with new ideas.
Second, blind memorizing wastes plenty of our study time. Studies show that students who rely mainly on rote memorization may get 25% to 35% lower practical abilities even if they spend long hours studying. For example, if we only memorize English articles without mastering reading skills, we cannot deal with new reading materials well.

Because…/ The reason is that…/ For example…
3、反驳观点:
I quite disagree with you because... /
What you said is true, but...
4、举例支撑:
For instance, when we..., we need to...
Post-project
Debate: Do we need to memorize things?
Show Time
Pro(正方)
We need to memorize things.
Con(反方)
We don’t need to memorize things.
Post-project
Post-project
Sample
In my opinion, we still need to memorize some things.
First, online information may not always be available. If the internet is down, we need to remember important facts.
Second, memorizing helps develop our brain and thinking skills. It is not just about storing facts, it also helps us make connections. However, we don’t need to memorize everything. We can use technology to remember less important things. I think a balance between memorization and using technology is best.
Post-project
