【参考范文】
One afternoon in October, I noticed Sophie sitting alone on the playground bench, looking upset. I had never seen her like that before. She was always the cheerful one, the one who cheered everyone else up. I walked over and sat down beside her. “Hey, what’s wrong?” I asked gently. She didn’t answer at first. Then her voice broke. “My grandma passed away last night,” she whispered. “I don’t know how to deal with it. I’ve never felt so lost and alone.” I remembered how she had helped me on my first day, when I was the one feeling lost. Now it was my turn. I put my arm around her shoulder. “I’m here for you, Sophie,” I said. “You don’t have to go through this alone.” For a long time, we just sat there in silence, and that was enough.
A week later, Sophie walked up to me after school with tears in her eyes. I felt my heart sink, worried about something else was wrong. But then she smiled — a real, warm smile. “Thank you,” she said. “I don’t think I ever thanked you properly for being there for me. You reminded me what friendship is truly about — showing up when it matters most.” I felt my eyes get watery. “You did the same for me on my first day,” I said. “Remember? You were the one who made me feel like I belonged.” That day, we both realized something beautiful: the kindness you give to others has a way of coming back when you least expect it. And that’s the true gift of friendship.

Last spring, my neighbor Donna and I, both in our seventies, spent several hours in the glorious sunshine enjoying the new season. When it was time to sit down and relax, Donna pulled out her red metal chair from her garage(车库), and I sat on an overturned plastic bucket(桶). It was fun to catch up on the news that we had missed during the long winter indoors.
However, over the next few days, it turned out that we needed more than a chair and a bucket which were not quite comfortable. Donna decided we needed a bench. After dismissing unsuitable options from local stores, she found a perfect one online. The next day it arrived. Excitedly, she opened the box and started putting it together. We proudly high-fived each other as the pieces joined up and the bench started to look like one. After a few minutes’ assistance from a neighbour, it was complete. What’s more, it was the perfect fit for two 70-somethings to carry on late afternoon chats.
Soon, the bench attracted other neighbors. One day, someone called out from the sidewalk, “What do you do on that bench?” Quick-thinking Donna called back, “It’s our ‘Thinking Bench’! We think about important things happening in our lives.” Then, the name gradually evolved — after one neighbor sat alone deep in thought, he declared it a “Decision-Making Bench”; another time, when Donna was caught napping, she insisted she was “meditating(冥想)”, adding yet another name.
Last fall, with the temperature falling, we came to the end of sitting outdoors. We were faced with one dilemma — what to do about it in the winter? Well, we sat down and thought and meditated and decided to put it in Donna’s garage for the winter.
When I glimpsed it a few times over the next months, the bench sat lonely, holding empty flower pots, and some flat, old boxes. But now after a long winter, spring flowers are ready to bloom in the warm sunshine, and we neighbours are ready to welcome “The Bench” back into our lives.
24. What did Donna decide to replace the chair and bucket for?
A. Lighten the carrying load. B. Attract more neighbours.
C. Get better seating for chats. D. Adapt to warmer weather.
25. How did the bench get its various names?
A. From items placed on it. B. From seasonal discussions.
C. From users’ activities on it. D. From Donna’s creative ideas.
26. Why are pots and boxes mentioned in the last paragraph?
A. To suggest the flowers would soon be planted.
B. To show the bench was not serving its purpose.
C. To describe the bench’s practical use in winter.
D. To explain why the bench needed winter storage.
27. What does “The Bench” represent by the story’s end?
A. A symbol of community bonds. B. A solution to the aging problem.
C. A reminder of the past summer. D. A memory of a valued online order.
C
Imagine you’re purchasing a lottery ticket, and your heart races as you check the numbers. To your amazement, you’ve matched five out of six! What will you do next? Will you buy another ticket? For most people, the answer is a big “Yes”.
When we come close to achieving a goal, we often gain a powerful energy that can drive us toward future success. Monica Wadhwa, a marketing professor at Temple University, suggests that not winning can actually motivate us more than winning itself.
In her studies, Wadhwa conducted various experiments to test this concept. In one experiment, participants played a cellphone game with the task of revealing eight diamonds. After the game, those who nearly won — by getting seven diamonds — walked faster to claim their reward than both winners and losers. “Their motivation is getting intensified(加强), but then they miss it ... So what happens to this motivation? It hooks on, giving you the energy for the next goal that you have.” Wadhwa explains, “As for the winners, they inch toward their goal, they achieve it, and their motivation is satisfied, which leaves them with no need to fight for anything else.”
However, this fire in your belly should be used wisely. Such motivation can push you toward significant goals, or be wasted on distractions. In another experiment at a fashion-accessory store where shoppers were given scratch-off lottery tickets, the near-winners shopped more and spent more than both winners and losers.
To harness(利用) this energy, Wadhwa advises setting goals that are slightly beyond our reach. She encourages managers to establish challenging yet achievable targets for their teams. Additionally, she recommends that parents highlight how close their children came to winning when they experience losses, fostering resilience and motivation. By understanding the unique power of nearly winning, we can turn setbacks into stepping stones for future success. As Wadhwa puts it. “Winners really do not take it all.”
28. What’s the purpose of paragraph 1?
A. To stress the importance of winning.
B. To display harmful effects of the lottery.
C. To explain the rules of playing the lottery.
D. To illustrate the excitement of nearly winning.
29. According to Wadhwa, what motivated the near-winners to act faster?
A. The eagerness to win another game.
B. The unmet ambitions for winning games.
C. The dissatisfaction of not achieving goals.
D. The need for immediate recognition or rewards.
30. What does the underlined sentence in paragraph 4 mean?
A. Feeling energized does not always ensure success.
B. You should not let your emotions guide your actions.
C. Motivation can lead to unwise choices if not controlled.
D. Having strong ambitions always leads to acting carelessly.
31. Which statement might Wadhwa agree most?
A. Parents should take their children’s losses seriously.
B. Managers should assign more tasks to star performers.
C. Encouraging children to fight for perfection is essential.
D. Setting slightly challenging goals can enhance motivation.
D
The Fire Festival is celebrated in northern Ghana. It’s a holiday we had never heard of before we came to live in a village here as Peace Corps community volunteers. It’s unbelievably great.
On the Fire Festival, drums beat a quick and regular rhythm that locals dance to in a circle of bodies, men and women, the old and young, holding torches of burning grass above their heads, which stands for the light and getting off negative energies.
At this moment, this festival is being held at the beginning of the lunar year. The locals are all so involved in the celebration that they don’t pay as much attention to us as they normally will. When they find us getting involved as they are, they dance more vigorously and scream with joy.
Danielle, a friend of mine in the Peace Corps, says, “That we join in the celebration is significant because foreigners here are typically seen as the representatives of other organizations, not as people who are willing to join in the Fire Festival rituals (仪式). But in fact, we are dancing and celebrating as one.”
Our two-year Peace Corps service will finish up in mid-November. We can think of no better way to say goodbye than by celebrating the Fire Festival with the villagers we’ve come to know. The festival lets us see a different side of them — and lets them see a different side of us. The neighbors who sell rice are now the women who urge us to run faster and dance harder at the Fire Festival. And rather than view us as low-key volunteers, they see us as the ones who have crazy dance steps with wild screams.
32. Why did the author go to northern Ghana?
A. To find a job. B. To go traveling.
C. To study further. D. To do voluntary work.
33. How do the locals feel when seeing the author and Danielle join in the celebration?
A. Annoyed. B. Indifferent. C. Confused. D. Excited.
34. What is the last paragraph mainly about?
A. The benefits of celebrating the Fire Festival.
B. The secrets of dancing well in the Fire Festival.
C. The reasons of the author’s joining in the festival.
D. The experience of helping the neighbors sell rice.
35. What can we learn from the text?
A. Practice makes perfect. B. Where there is a will, there is a way.
C. When in Rome, do as the Romans do. D. The grass is always greener on the other side.
第二节(共5小题, 每小题2. 5分, 共12. 5分)
阅读下面短文, 从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
If you’re reading this, you were probably born in the 2000s. The oh-ohs. The 21st century. That would make you young, creative, connected, global, and no doubt smart. Maybe good looking, too. Right? 36
Some adults worry that you’re more interested in the screen in front of you than the world around you. 37 Because you use your phone so much and they wonder how you will deal with school, friends, and family. Are today’s teenagers too busy texting and taking selfies to become successful in real life — or “IRL”, as you would say?
Other adults worry that you are spoilt(宠坏的) and are lacking in the independent living skills. 38 Many children born in the 1990s and 2000s were raised by “helicopter parents” who were always there to guide and help them with a busy schedule filled with homework and extra-curricular activities such as dancing, drawing, or sports. With parents who do everything for them, today’s youth seem to prefer to live like teenagers even when they are in their 20s or 30s.
39 Well, probably not. The fact is that many of today’s teenagers are better educated and more creative than past generations. The youth also seem to be enthusiastic(热情的) and willing to become leaders. More young people than ever volunteer to help their communities. There are also brave young people such as Malala Yousafzai, the teenager who won the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize for pushing girls’ rights to go to school.
So if you’re one of the oh-ohs, there’s reason to be hopeful about the future. 40 Chances are that you will do GR8 (great) and LOL (laugh out loud)
A. You are a promising generation definitely.
B. They view you as the “face-down generation”.
C. Are the face-down oh-ohs a let-down generation?
D. The face-down generation actually needs a heads-up.
E. But what do other people think about your generation?
F. You always face down and barely notice your surroundings.
G. You aren’t even given chances to face the challenges of adult life.

In our fast-paced modern world, the pursuit of health is more than a trend; it’s a necessity. While the benefits of physical activity are widely acknowledged, few people explore the profound philosophical question of 56 true well-being lies. Does it involve a deeper state of harmony?
Regular exercise boosts the 57 (promote) of both physical and mental health. However, an imbalance can lead to the opposite. Overtraining, for instance, not only causes fatigue but may also result in the destruction of muscle tissue and immune function. It reminds us that even positive things must be approached with wisdom.
The ancient Greeks understood this balance well. For them, physical fitness was inseparable from mental excellence. This ideal finds its 58 (exist) in the Olympic Games, 59 originally celebrated the all-around development of individuals. Today, we might say that a healthy lifestyle consists of activities that challenge our bodies while also nurturing our minds, 60 (represent) a modern pursuit of that ancient balance.
Consider outdoor activities. A hiker 61 (bite) by a snake might panic, but knowledge and calmness can turn the situation around. This metaphor 62 (apply) to our daily health choices: dangers exist, but preparedness makes all the difference. The key is consistent, moderate effort rather than occasional, intense pushes.
63 we often overlook is the “why” behind our actions. Are we exercising out of self-love 64 out of fear? The answer shapes our long-term commitment. Ultimately, sustainable health is not 65 destination but a continuous journey of listening to our bodies and respecting their limits.

第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
When I was in eighth grade, my family moved to a new city. I left behind my friends, my school, and everything I had known since kindergarten. On the first day of my new school, I was terrified. I stood at the gate, watching students laugh and chat with their friends, feeling like an outsider.
My new school was much bigger than my old one. The hallways were crowded and noisy. I felt like I might get lost. As I walked to my first class, a group of students passed by and one of them accidentally bumped into me, knocking my books out of my hands. Without even looking back, they continued walking. I knelt down to pick up my books, trying hard to hold back tears.
Then I heard footsteps stop beside me. I looked up and saw a girl with a friendly smile. “Let me help you,” she said, gathering my books. “Hey, I haven’t seen you around here before. Are you new?”
I nodded, feeling my face turn red.
“I’m Sophie,” she said. “What class do you have first?” I showed her my schedule and her face lit up. “No way! We’re in the same class! You can walk with me and I’ll show you around.”
Over the next few weeks, Sophie introduced me to her friends, invited me to sit with them at lunch, and always made sure I wasn’t left out. Thanks to her, I began to feel like I belonged. But I had no idea that one day I would be given the chance to repay her kindness.

Last spring,my neighbor Donna and I,both in our seventies, spent several hours in the glorious sunshine
enjoying the new season. When it was time to sit down and relax,Donna pulled out her red metal chair from her
garage(),and I sat on an overturned plastic bucket().It was fun to catch up on the news that we had missed
during the long winter indoors.
..·.
However, over the next few days,it turned out that we needed more than a chair and a bucket which were not
......
quite comfortable.Donna decided we needed a bench. After dismissing unsuitable options from local stores, she
found a perfect one online. The next day it arrived.Excitedly, she opened the box and started putting it together. We

proudly high-fived each other as the pieces joined up and the bench started to look like one. After a few minutes'
assistance from a neighbour,it was complete. What's more,it was the perfect fit for two 70-somethings to carry on

late afternoon chats.
Soon, the bench attracted other neighbors. One day, someone called out from the sidewalk,"What do you do
..·.
on that bench?"Quick-thinking Donna called back,"It's our "Thinking Bench'!We think about important things

Last fall, with the temperature falling,we came to the end of sitting outdoors. We were faced with one

Imagine you're purchasing a lottery ticket, and your heart races as you check the numbers. To your
amazement, you've matched five out of six! What will you do next? Will you buy another ticket? For most people,
O
the answer is a big"Yes".
When we come close to achieving a goal,we often gain a powerful energy that can drive us toward future
success.Monica Wadhwa,a marketing professor at Temple University, suggests that not winning can actually
motivate us more than winning itself.
In her studies,Wadhwa conducted various experiments to test this concept. In one experiment, participants
played a cellphone game with the task of revealing eight diamonds. After the game, those who nearly won-by
getting seven diamonds-walked faster to claim their reward than both winners and losers."Their motivation is
:
getting intensified(),but then they miss it...So what happens to this motivation? It hooks on,giving you the
O
energy for the next goal that you have."Wadhwa explains,"As for the winners, they inch toward their goal, they
achieve it,and their motivation is satisfied, which leaves them with no need to fight for anything else."
However, this fire in your belly should be used wisely.Such motivation can push you toward significant goals,
or be wasted on distractions. In another experiment at a fashion-accessory store where shoppers were given
scratch-off lottery tickets, the near-winners shopped more and spent more than both winners and losers.
的
F
To harness()this energy,Wadhwa advises setting goals that are slightly beyond our reach. She
!
!
encourages managers to establish challenging yet achievable targets for their teams.Additionally, she recommends
!
!
that parents highlight how close their children came to winning when they experience losses, fostering resilience and
motivation.By understanding the unique power of nearly winning,we can turn setbacks into stepping stones for
future success. As Wadhwa puts it."Winners really do not take it all."

The Fire Festival is celebrated in northern Ghana. It's a holiday we had never heard of before we came to live
in a village here as Peace Corps community volunteers. It's unbelievably great.
On the Fire Festival, drums beat a quick and regular rhythm that locals dance to in a circle of bodies, men and
women, the old and young, holding torches of burning grass above their heads, which stands for the light and getting
off negative energies.
At this moment, this festival is being held at the beginning of the lunar year. The locals are all so involved in
the celebration that they don't pay as much attention to us as they normally will. When they find us getting involved
as they are, they dance more vigorously and scream with joy.
Danielle,a friend of mine in the Peace Corps, says,"That we join in the celebration is significant because
foreigners here are typically seen as the representatives of other organizations, not as people who are willing to join
in the Fire Festival rituals ()But in fact,we are dancing and celebrating as one."
Our two-year Peace Corps service will finish up in mid-November.We can think of no better way to say
goodbye than by celebrating the Fire Festival with the villagers we've come to know. The festival lets us see a
different side of them-and lets them see a different side of us.The neighbors who sell rice are now the women
who urge us to run faster and dance harder at the Fire Festival. And rather than view us as low-key volunteers, they
see us as the ones who have crazy dance steps with wild screams.

When I was in eighth grade,my family moved to a new city.I left behind my friends,my school, and
everything I had known since kindergarten. On the first day of my new school,I was terrified.I stood at the gate,
watching students laugh and chat with their friends, feeling like an outsider.
My new school was much bigger than my old one.The hallways were crowded and noisy.I felt like I might
get lost.As I walked to my first class,a group of students passed by and one of them accidentally bumped into me,
knocking my books out of my hands.Without even looking back, they continued walking.I knelt down to pick up
my books, trying hard to hold back tears.
Then I heard footsteps stop beside me.I looked up and saw a girl with a friendly smile."Let me help you,"
she said, gathering my books."Hey,I haven't seen you around here before. Are you new?"
I nodded, feeling my face turn red.
"I'm Sophie,"she said."What class do you have first?"I showed her my schedule and her face lit up."No
way! We're in the same class! You can walk with me and I'll show you around."
Over the next few weeks,Sophie introduced me to her friends, invited me to sit with them at lunch, and
always made sure I wasn't left out. Thanks to her,I began to feel like I belonged. But I had no idea that one day I
would be given the chance to repay her kindness.

阅读下面短文,在空白处填入1个适当的单词或括号内单词的正确形式。

69. He hopes to make a (contribute) to medical research in the future.
70. (fortunate), schools are attaching great importance to labor education these days.

M: I sent my new book to the publisher last week, but I haven’t heard a word back yet.
W: Hmm, is that a promising sign or a worrying one?
M: Honestly, I’m not quite sure. Probably the latter. I’m really on edge about this. What if they despise it?
W: Come on, stay optimistic. You’ve managed to write three books! Most people can’t even finish one. That’s no small feat.
M: You’re absolutely right. I should focus on the positive aspects.
W: Exactly! Hey, why don’t we step away from all this for a bit and do something enjoyable to get this off your mind?
M: That sounds good. What do you have in mind?
W: How about we head to the cinema? There’s that new comedy out, supposed to be amazing. Might help loosen you up.
M: Perfect.

M: Thanks, Mom.
W: Come and sit down first. Take a short break. How’s everything been at school?
M: Pretty good overall. Well, there’s one thing I want to talk to you about. I started a work-study program at an accounting firm, but I’ve had a sudden change of heart. I’d rather not work with numbers. Instead, I want to switch to a creative field, like literature.
W: That’s a big change! They are likely two completely different worlds.
M: Do you think it’s strange to change majors?
W: Oh, I changed my major when I was your age, too. I know you’ll do well in any field. The only thing I’m worried about is the job opportunities in creative areas. Follow your heart, but don’t ignore future job options. Please keep this in mind while choosing a major.

【原文】
Good evening to you all. As we all know, education is very important. If our children pay attention and learn as much as they can, it can set them on the road to a good career and a happy life. But as well as learning subjects at school, it is also important for them to learn right ways to obey in life. All of us should have basic rules of behavior, including truthfulness, honesty, charity, love, and kindness. Education is not aimed at getting only a degree. Successful moral education can make a good student perfect. Perhaps most moral education can be learned at home, rather than in school or college, because our children spend most of their time at home. Moral education can often be learned best by actions rather than words. Sometimes we adults forget this golden rule and advise young people to act well, while not always doing so ourselves. Children are good observers, so it is the duty of you as parents to set a good example to the younger generation.

【答案】24. C 25. C 26. B 27. A
【语篇导读】本文是一篇记叙文。文章讲述了作者和邻居唐娜在户外放置长椅,长椅吸引邻居们一起聊天、思考、做决定,最终成为邻里情谊象征的故事。
24. 细节理解题。根据第二段中的“However, over the next few days, it turned out that we needed more than a chair and a bucket which were not quite comfortable. Donna decided we needed a bench. After dismissing unsuitable options from local stores, she found a perfect one online. The next day it arrived.(然而,在接下来的几天里,事实证明,我们需要的不仅仅是一把椅子和一只不太舒服的水桶。唐娜决定我们需要一条长凳。她先排除了当地商店里那些不合适的款式,之后在网上找到了一张完美的长椅。)”以及“What’s more, it was the perfect fit for two 70-somethings to carry on late afternoon chats.(更重要的是,它非常适合两位70多岁的老人进行傍晚的聊天)”可知,唐娜决定把椅子和桶换成长凳是为了让聊天时有更好的座位。故选C。
25. 细节理解题。根据第三段中的“Then, the name gradually evolved — after one neighbor sat alone deep in thought, he declared it a “Decision-Making Bench”; another time, when Donna was caught napping, she insisted she was “meditating(冥想) ”, adding yet another name.(然后,这个名字逐渐演变——一位邻居独自坐着沉思后,他宣称这是一个‘决策长椅’;还有一次,当唐娜被发现打盹时,她坚持说自己在‘冥想’,于是又加了一个名字)”可知,长凳的名字来源于使用者在长凳上的活动。故选C。
26. 推理判断题。根据最后一段“When I glimpsed it a few times over the next months, the bench sat lonely, holding empty flower pots, and some flat, old boxes. But now after a long winter, spring flowers are ready to bloom in the warm sunshine, and we neighbours are ready to welcome “The Bench” back into our lives.(在接下来的几个月里,当我瞥见它几次时,长凳孤零零地立着,上面放着空花盆和一些扁平的旧盒子。但是现在,经过一个漫长的冬天,春天的花朵已经准备好在温暖的阳光下绽放,我们邻居们也准备好欢迎‘长凳’回到我们的生活中)”可知,长凳上放着空花盆和旧盒子,说明长凳在冬天没有发挥它的作用,即让邻居们一起聊天、思考、做决定。故选B。
27. 推理判断题。根据第三段中的“Soon, the bench attracted other neighbors.(很快,长凳吸引了其他邻居)”以及最后一段中的“But now after a long winter, spring flowers are ready to bloom in the warm sunshine, and we neighbours are ready to welcome ‘The Bench’ back into our lives.(但是现在,经过一个漫长的冬天,春天的花朵已经准备好在温暖的阳光下绽放,我们邻居们也准备好欢迎“长凳”回到我们的生活中)”可知,长凳吸引了邻居们一起聊天、思考、做决定,它最终象征着邻里间的情谊联结。故选A。
【答案】28. D 29. B 30. C 31. D
【语篇导读】这是一篇说明文。文章主要说明了研究表明接近成功(差点赢)比成功本身更能激励人,但这种动力需明智利用,例如设定具有挑战性但可实现的目标来激发动力。
28. 推理判断题。根据第一段“Imagine you’re purchasing a lottery ticket, and your heart races as you check the numbers. To your amazement, you’ve matched five out of six! What will you do next? will you buy another ticket? For most people, the answer is a big “Yes”.(想象一下,你正在买一张彩票,当你检查号码时,你的心跳加速。令你惊讶的是,你已经匹配了六个中的五个!接下来你要做什么?你要买另一张票吗?对大多数人来说,参考答案是肯定的)”可知,第一段描述买彩票差点中奖的情景,是来说明差一点获胜时的兴奋。故选D。
29. 细节理解题。根据第三段“Their motivation is getting intensified (加强), but then they miss it ... So what happens to this motivation? It hooks on, giving you the energy for the next goal that you have.(他们的动力越来越强,但是他们错过了……
根据最后一段“To harness(利用) this energy, Wadhwa advises setting goals that are slightly beyond our reach. She encourages managers to establish challenging yet achievable targets for their teams.(为了利用这种能量,瓦德瓦建议设定一些稍微超出我们能力范围的目标。她鼓励管理者为团队制定具有挑战性但可以实现的目标)”可知,设定具有挑战性但可实现的目标能激发动力。故选D。

【答案】32. D 33. D 34. C 35. C
【语篇导读】这是一篇记叙文,文章主要讲述作者作为和平队社区志愿者在加纳北部庆祝火把节的经历。
32. 细节理解题。根据第一段“It’s a holiday we had never heard of before we came to live in a village here as Peace Corps community volunteers.(这是我们作为和平队社区志愿者来到这里的一个村庄生活之前从未听说过的假期)”可知,作者到加纳北部做志愿工作。故选D。
33. 推理判断题。根据第三段“When they find us getting involved as they are, they dance more vigorously and scream with joy. (当他们发现我们像他们一样参与进来时,他们会跳得更卖力,高兴地尖叫)”可推断,当地人发现志愿者们加入他们的庆祝活动后,他们非常激动。故选D。
34. 主旨大意题。根据最后一段“We can think of no better way to say goodbye than by celebrating the Fire Festival with the villagers we’ve come to know. The festival lets us see a different side of them—and lets them see a different side of us. (我们想不出比和我们认识的村民一起庆祝火把节更好的告别方式了。这个节日让我们看到了他们的另一面,也让他们看到了我们的另一面)”可知,本段主要讲作者和Danielle加入当地火把节庆祝活动的原因。故选C。
35. 推理判断题。结合第一段“It’s a holiday we had never heard of before we came to live in a village here as Peace Corps community volunteers.(这是一个我们作为和平队社区志愿者来到这个村庄之前从未听说过的节日)”和第四段中“That we join in the celebration is significant because foreigners here are typically seen as the representatives of other organizations, not as people who are willing to join in the Fire Festival rituals (仪式). But in fact, we are dancing and celebrating as one.(我们参加庆祝活动意义重大,因为这里的外国人通常被视为其他组织的代表,而不是愿意参加火把节仪式的人。但事实上,我们在一起跳舞和庆祝)”可知,作者和Danielle以和平工作团志愿者的身份来到加纳北部,当地人庆祝火把节时,他们入乡随俗,积极参与庆祝活动,这得以让当地人和志愿者们重新认识彼此。因此,从文中我们可以学到“When in Rome, do as the Romans do(入乡随俗)”。故选C。
【答案】36. E 37. B 38. G 39. C 40. A

38. 由上文“Other adults worry that you are spoilt(宠坏的) and are lacking in the independent living skills.(其他成年人担心你们被宠坏,缺乏独立生活技能。)”可知,此处说明年轻人缺乏独立能力的原因,而G项“You aren’t even given chances to face the challenges of adult life.(你甚至没有机会去面对成年人生活的挑战。)”符合此处语境, 其中“aren’t even given chances”与上文“lacking in the independent living skills”对应,为合理的延伸,有承上作用。故选G项。
39. 由下文“Well, probably not. The fact is that many of today’s teenagers are better educated and more creative than past generations.(嗯,可能并不会。事实是,如今许多青少年比过去几代人受教育程度更高、更有创造力。)”可知,空格处需要一个疑问来引出下文的回答,而C项 “Are the face-down oh-ohs a let-down generation?(低头的00后是让人失望的一代吗?)”符合此处语境,对后文进行了合理的引出,有启下作用。故选C项。
40. 由上文“So if you’re one of the oh-ohs, there’s reason to be hopeful about the future.(所以如果你是00后,有理由对未来充满希望。)”可知,此处是对00后的积极肯定,而A项“You are a promising generation definitely.(你们绝对是大有希望的一代。)”符合此处语境,其中“promising generation”与上文“be hopeful about the future”对应,有承上作用。故选A项。

第二节(共10小题;每小题1分, 满分10分)
阅读下面短文,在空白处填入1个适当的单词或括号内单词的正确形式。

So what kinds of things do you learn? Do you concentrate on learning just one thing? No, I go to several events. For example, today I went to lecture about english literature. Yesterday I played games to find out about gravity. IT was a science activity. And tomorrow i'm going to a lecture on the global economy. Thank you for your time. Listen to the next question. Good evening to you all. As we all know, education is very important. If our children pay attention and learn as much as they can, you can set them on the road to a good career and a happy life, but as well as learning subjects at school, IT is also important for them to learn right ways to obey in life. All of us should have basic rules of behaviour, including truthfulness, honesty, charity, love and kindness. Education is not aimed at getting only a degree successful moral education can make a good student perfect. Perhaps most moral education can be learned at home rather than in school or college. Because our children spend most of their time at home, moral education can often be learned best by actions rather than words. Sometimes we adults forget this golden rule and advise Young people to act well, while not always doing so ourselves. Children are good observers, so IT is the duty of you as parents to set a good example to the Younger generation. Good evening to you all. As we all know, education is very important.
