I didn't go to Santiago,Chile to look for friendship. In fact,Chile was not even on my wish list.
As a mid-life crisis woman,I got a chance to study abroad.I only wanted to learn about global
business,taste South American cuisine,and check"study abroad"off my wish list.
On the fifth day,I joined a group for a neighborhood work project aided by the anti-poverty
organization. Our tasks were to build a water tower and paint the community center.Upon arrival.I
couldn't believe my eyes.It was like a scene out of a homrible film. That moment redefined poverty
for me because I had never seen such terrible living conditions. As advised,I showed no signs of the
emotional battle going on inside me.
Just as I was about to start work on painting,a request came through for a few volunteers to
help Nadia,a local resident who volunteered to cook for us.I raised my hand to help because I
wanted to spend time with the people of the neighborhood despite my shortage of Spanish speaking
skills.Nadia had a sincere smile but not overly friendly.Even without speaking each other's
language,we started to learn about one another. We chatted about our children, our upbringing,
shared pictures of our family, struggled to instruct each other to communicate in the other's
language,and laughed many times.
After we fed everybody and the dishes were washed,my day was over. But I found myself
hesitant to leave. It was as if I had known her my entire life.I had not predicted the unselfishness of
heart I would encounter, and it was moving.
As we were waiting for the car to pick us up,Nadia showed me her plants that are
well-maintained.I could see that despite the hard conditions she was passionate about life. She
made me long to be a stronger person. She showed me that poverty was external, but happiness was
intemal.I was seeking to give 100 percent for a well-intentioned cause,but I left receiving 200
percent from her.

D.She preferred cooking to painting the community center.
27.What did the author learn from Nadia?
A.True friends are never apart in heart.
B.Happiness is defined by a positive attitude.
C.Language is not a barrier to great connections.
D.Unselfishness is putting others before ourselves
When technology quickly changes our world,we might ask:Are our old cultural traditions
disappearing,or are they being reborn? In China,an interesting mix of old and new shows that
technology is not fighting tradition.Instead,it is a strong tool to help bring traditions back to life and
pass them on to young people.
Take the Spring Festival,China's most important holiday,as an example. The old custom of
giving red envelopes with money inside has changed. Now,many millions of people use apps to send
and get digital red envelopes. This change to digital form has not reduced the tradition's meaning of
bringing good luck and wishes. In fact,it has made the custom more fun and convenient. This is
especially engaging for young people who often live without using much cash.
Traditional performing arts are also joining this digital trend. For example,Chinese opera,a
valuable cultural art,is now using modern stage effects.Shows might use better sound and lights,or
even drones to create amazing scenes that were not possible before. This attracts people who once
thought opera was hard to understand or old-fashioned.At a recent show,AI robot dogs performed a
traditional dance together perfectly. The performance surprised the audience and showed a wonderful
mix of old culture and new technology.
Even the important value of family reunion is helped by modern technology.China's large
high-speed rail network makes trips home for the holidays much quicker and easier. For family
members who cannot travel, video calls and social media become places for online gatherings. They
allow families separated by long distances to share happy festival moments together.
In the end, technology is creating new containers for our old cultural traditions. It makes sure that
the true spirit of these traditions-like community, good wishes, and family love-does not just
continue, but grows stronger in the modem world. It connects the past and the present in active and
exciting ways.
28.What can we know about digital red envelopes?

B.They are widely accepted by elderly people.
C.They have made the custom less meaningful.

B.Objective.
C.Positive.
D.Doubtful
31.What is the main idea of the text?
A.Young people are ignoring old traditions.
B.Technology is helping keep traditions alive.
C.Technology is replacing traditional customs
D.Technology is changing the meaning of traditions.

Teaching comedy is a delicate craft that Shakespeare Theatre Company's Teaching Artists
handle with expertise.Sabrina Mandell, specializing in clowning and physical comedy, believes in
starting with examples of what she finds funny, helping students understand humor and its subtlety
()She emphasizes the importance of discovering what works for individuals rather than
specifying a right way.
Overcoming fear is crucial in comedy, with Mark Jaster noting that comedians must be willing
to push beyond social norms.Sabrina also advocates opening up emotionally, recognizing the
closeness of laughter and tears. After all, pushing students to face fear head-on can tap into their full
comedic potential.
Precision is also essential in comedy,requiring crisp,clean,and well-timed performance.Jim
Gagne emphasizes the need for precision in comedy compared to the flexibility allowed in drama.
Teaching comedic timing is challenging, with some students naturally possessing the talent, while
others need more guidance to refine this essential skill.Jim,however, believes it can be developed
through awareness,practice,and thorough exploration.
Play and fun are crucial in teaching comedy.Sabrina emphasizes the importance of rediscovering the
joy of play.Mark envisions a comedy lab where exploring its mysteries is as significant as its perfommance.
Despite the desire for laughs, teachers emphasize the importance of storytelling within comedic
scenes.Jim provides a valuable insight:"In drama,you throw the dishes down;in comedy,you
throw them up."This comparison underscores that comedy demands a different approach, one that
is more lighthearted and humorous.Nevertheless, the ultimate goal is to truly engage the audience
and genuinely make them laugh.
32.What does Sabrina Mandell find important when teaching comedy?
A.Conveying her sense of humor to students
B.Prioritizing storytelling over humor.
C.Focusing on creating physical humor.
D.Inspiring students to explore their humor.
33.Why is facing fear bravely considered crucial in comedy?
A.It enables people to unlock comedic potential
B.Comedians need to go beyond social conventions
C.Laughter and tears enhance the comedic effect
D.Fear is one of the primary sources of humor
34.How does Jim Gagne view the precision in comedy?
A.He considers it merely a natural gift.
B.He emphasizes precision more in comedy than in drama.
C.He thinks teaching precision requires a sense of timing.
D.He believes precision in comedy is similar to flexibility in drama
35.What can we learn about comedy from the passage?
A.Comedy aims to find out mysteries.
B.Comedy requires a serious and dramatic approach.
C.Comedy brings the audience new inspirations.
D.Comedy can be taught through play and exploration

support flooded into Sara's inbox quickly.Besides, one day,Sara was driving back home and
surprised to find that New Year's decorations reappeared on houses in her neighborhood-her
neighbors had made a collective decision to hang their lights back up in honor of her father!
She never learned the sender's identity. But for her, that hurtful deed was far less important than

第五部分书面表达(满分20分)
Dear fellow students,
On March 7th,2026,Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng put forward the proposal "Let children sweat and have light in
their eyes"at the NPC,advocating us to keep exercising and strengthen our physical and mental health. To respond to this call,
our school plans to hold a spring sports meeting.
Doing sports is of great benefit to us in many aspects.Firstly,it can effectively build up our bodies, enhance our physical
fitness, and help us get rid of tiredness from long-term study.Secondly,it can temper our willpower, teaching us to persist in
the face of difficulties and never give up easily.Besides,it is a good way to develop team spirit-when we participate in group
events,we learn to cooperate with others, respect teammates and share joys and sorrows together. What's more, taking part in
sports can help us release pressure, relax our mood and keep a positive attitude towards study and life.
Here, the Student Union calls on all students to sign up actively.Let's water our youth with sweat, show our elegance
with hard work, and fill our campus with vitality and light!
