例文
The person who influences me most
The person who influences me most is Fan Jinshi, known as the “Daughter of Dunhuang”.
She has devoted nearly 60 years to protecting Dunhuang’s ancient cave paintings. Though she lived a hard life without electricity or running water at first, she never gave up. Her spirit of persistent devotion touches me deeply.
Inspired by her, I have learned to keep trying when facing difficulties. I used to give up easily when meeting hard problems in study. Now I always stick to working them out.
In the future, I plan to take part in more volunteer work and keep working hard for my goals just like her.

Larry was famous for underwater expeditions(探险). Now he started another expedition. But this time, it was different — he took his daughter with him. She was only 10 years old.
Larry first began diving when he was 10 years old, also with his father. At that time, the diving suits were either too big or too small for him and this made him angry. He was given a short lesson before diving into the water with his father. He was lucky because children at his age were not allowed to dive.
From his first expedition on, Larry did better and better in diving. Young Larry even dived from boats into the middle of the sea. Dangerous areas did not prevent him from continuing his search. Sometimes, he had to stay in a cage underwater, but he still enjoyed taking photos of the underwater wildlife.
Soon, Larry began his first expedition without his father. It was in the Cayman Islands. A local guide took him around. Larry didn’t even know what the time was, how many places he dived into or how many photos he had taken. The fish and other sea animals were so beautiful and attractive!

Taking Root
We all know that there are a great number of different plants in the world. But how many kinds of plants are
there exactly in the world? Lucy Braun wondered that as a child. She showed a great interest in plants when she
was just a little child. She often had energetic walks with her family through the nearby woods. Some plants and
wildflowers seemed to shout at her with their wild colors. Others hid behind rocks.
Lucy looked at the shapes of different leaves while she was walking in the woods. She kept a record of what
she saw. She also learnt to draw what she saw so that she could compare all kinds of plants. Later, Lucy grew more
and more interested in botany, the study of plants.
Branching Out
While she was at university, Lucy took classes in geology, or the study of rocks and minerals. Her work with
geologists changed how she looked at the natural world. She continued her studies in botany as well. Lucy also
took classes in ecology (生态学). She believed that plant life in some areas was able to move to other places over
time.
In Full Bloom
In 1917, Lucy began to teach botany at a university. She lived in a house near the woods. Lucy collected
plants from all around the country. She took many photos of them, too. Colour photography was still new then.
Because of that, people enjoyed her lessons and photos very much.
The ________ of Labour(劳动)
Later in her life, Lucy wrote many field guides. In 1950, she published her most important guide. It describes
the plants in the forests all over the country. Ecologists still use it to study changes in the forests over time.
Today, Lucy has a few plants named after her. One of them is Lucy Braun’s snakeroot (蛇根草), which is now in
danger. Lucy’s work in the protection of nature may help prevent its disappearance.
Lucy Braun lived to be 81. In her years as a botanist, Lucy collected nearly 12,000 plants!
42. What can we learn from the underlined sentence in Paragraph 1?
A. The plants seemed to be angry with Lucy. B. The plants could talk just like humans.

42.第一段画线句使用拟人修辞“Some plants and wildflowers seemed to shout at her with their wild colors”,借拟人写法凸显花草色彩艳丽鲜活,体现植物充满蓬勃生命力,对应 C 选项。
Causes(成因)、Flowers(花卉)、Records

More than two thousand years ago, during China’s Spring and Autumn Period, many states often fought wars with each other.
The State of Qi, ruled by Duke Huan (齐桓公), had a wise minister named Guan Zhong. He was very good at coming up with smart plans.
After Qi won a hard war, the soldiers (士 兵 ) prepared to return home. Everyone was happy. But then a
problem happened—they got lost. When they first came, it was spring. There were flowers and green trees. Now it
was winter. Everything was white with snow, covering all roads. Trapped in the mountains for many days, they
were nearly out of food and water. The soldiers were tired and hungry, worrying about the danger of never finding
their way back.
When Duke Huan asked for ideas, Guan Zhong suggested using old horses. He explained, “Old horses have
traveled many roads. They remember well. Even if they can’t see the road, they can still find their way home.”
Duke Huan agreed to try. They chose the oldest horses, untied their reins (缰绳) and let them walk ahead.
Following the old horses—who walked slowly, smelled the ground and looked very sure—they crossed snowy
mountains and valleys. They walked for a long time. At last, the old horses found the way home! Everyone was
saved.
From then on, people used the saying “An old horse knows the way” to describe someone with experience.

Larry looked at his daughter. The young girl looked as excited as he was when he was her age. Larry hoped she would be able to continue the family tradition. Already, she seemed to be much braver than her father. This was the key to a successful underwater expedition.
34.This expedition was different for Larry because __________.
A. his daughter had grown up B. he had become a famous diver
C. his father would dive with him D. his daughter would dive with him

love with others. His online group has about 24,000 members from around the world who discuss the story,
characters, and new parts of the book. Vaishnu often notices details he has missed before when discussing with
others.
Hou Xiaonan, the leader of Yuewen, said, “These books show the creative ideas of young people in China.

Colour photography was still new then.

the plants in the forests all over the country.

Larry looked at his daughter. The young girl looked as excited as he was when he was her age. Larry hoped she would be able to continue the family tradition. Already, she seemed to be much braver than her father. This was the key to a successful underwater expedition.

others.
Hou Xiaonan, the leader of Yuewen, said, “These books show the creative ideas of young people in China.
