(2026•南京六校联合体高二期中)When he was a little boy, his uncle called him “Sparky” after a comic-strip horse named Spark Plug.School was all but impossible for Sparky.
He failed every subject in the eighth grade. He failed physics in high school, getting a grade of zero.He also failed Latin, algebra and English. And his record in sports wasn’t any better.Though he did manage to make the school’s golf team, he quickly lost the only important match of the season.Oh, there was a consolation match (安慰赛); he lost that too.
Throughout his youth, Sparky was awkward socially. It wasn’t that the other students disliked him; it was just that no one really cared all that much.In fact, Sparky was astonished if a classmate ever said hello to him outside of school hours.Sparky was a loser. He, his classmates ...everyone knew it.
One thing was important to Sparky, however — drawing. He was proud of his artwork. No one else appreciated it.But that didn’t seem to matter to him.In his senior year of high school, he submitted some cartoons to the yearbook. The editors rejected the concept.Despite this brush-off, Sparky was convinced of his ability. He even decided to become an artist.
So, after completing high school, Sparky wrote to Walt Disney Studios. They asked for samples of his artwork.Despite careful preparation, it was rejected too.One more confirmation that he was a loser.
But Sparky still didn’t give up.Instead, he decided to tell his own life’s story in cartoons.Sparky’s cartoon character went on to become a cultural phenomenon of sorts.People readily identified with this “lovable loser”.He reminded people of the painful and embarrassing moments from their own past, of their pain and their shared humanity. The character soon became famous worldwide: “Charlie Brown”.And Sparky, the boy whose many failures never kept him from trying, whose work was rejected again and again ...is the highly successful cartoonist Charles Schultz. His cartoon strip, Peanuts, continues to inspire books, T-shirts and Christmas specials, reminding us, as someone once commented, that life somehow finds a way for all of us, even the losers.

(2026•湖南衡阳一中期中)Baya Mahieddine is one of Algeria’s most celebrated artists. As a self-taught artist, Baya kept the connection to tribal (部落的) art that so fascinated the Western world, and actively rejected any form of classification (分类).
Born in Algeria in 1931, Baya’s life was far from easy.Orphaned (成为孤儿) at the age of five, she was raised by her grandmother.Unable to attend school, she worked as a servant for a French woman named Marguerite Camina, who would later be described by the artist as her adoptive mother.Camina noticed the talent that her young servant displayed in making figures from clay (陶土), and encouraged her to develop her skill.
By the time she was 16, Baya had her first exhibition in Paris. This is where her influence on artists such as Pablo Picasso is first noted.Baya always allowed her environment and imagination to shape her work. She created work that was deeply personal, rooted in her childhood and her home.
Inspired by her natural talent, Picasso invited Baya to work with him in 1948.Picasso’s Women of Algiers series is said to be inspired by Baya, although it was painted after their time spent working together.
Baya married celebrated Andalusian composer Mahfoudh Mahieddine in 1953, who was credited with inspiring many of the instruments that appear in her works. One year following her marriage, Baya stopped painting. But the stop was temporary. She returned to her artistic practice in the late 1960s and continued to create works until she died in 1998.
Some people described her work as abstractionism because of the strong colors and strange figures. But the artist refused to classify herself using the terminology (术语) of Western standards. Her pieces don’t follow any rules, continually rejecting the classifications forced onto them. She was an Algerian artist at heart — clearly the only personal and artistic classification she was happy with.

(2026•长沙浏阳重点校期中联考)As AI art generators take the world by storm, some people wonder if their works should count as art at all.The technology is still developing and has some wrinkles to iron out (消除), which means there are indeed flaws to consider alongside the incredible artwork a good artificial intelligence can produce.
Art is classed as the product of imagination, skill, experience, and emotion, usually meant to represent something for the public to enjoy.Artists spent time and effort putting their inner worlds onto these works.Machine intelligence also puts a lot of work into sorting through tons of data, linking someone’s prompt (指令) to datasets, and trying to represent it as best as possible. The difference is that the AI is driven by commands instead of an emotional desire to express itself.
AI painters can produce over 1,000 original works of art with every tap of the enter key on a keyboard. But a mass-produced print of the Mona Lisa is worth less than the actual Leonardo da Vinci’s painting. Why? Scarcity — there’s only one of the original.Should anyone pay for these things? And if an artist puts AI masterpieces up for sale, what should the price be?
AI art involves a program mimicking (模仿) the work of existing artists to create a new piece according to the request of a human. But who made the artwork, the machine or its user? And can the original artists sue for (控告) copyright violation? Such questions complicate the merging of artificial intelligence and the art industry, while fueling arguments against recognizing AI-generated art as marketable artistic products.
Once we’ve answered those questions, we can tackle the really big one: When an AI-generated painting wins an award, who gets the prize?
9.How is AI art different from human art?( )
A.It is the product of experience. B.It combines different styles of work.
C.It is not a mirror of artists’ emotions. D.It doesn’t cost much money to produce.
10.Why does the writer mention Mona Lisa in paragraph 3?( )
A.To present the potential trouble with the value of AI art.
B.To introduce a new way of preserving art masterpieces.
C.To show the advantages of AI painters over human artists.
D.To prove the popularity of classic artworks among viewers.
11.What can we infer from paragraph 4?( )
A.AI art promotes the sale of artistic products.
B.AI art makes copyright issues more complicated.
C.Artists can create more works with the help of AI.
D.There will be fierce competition in the art industry.
12.What is the purpose of the text?( )
A.To persuade. B.To inform. C.To describe. D.To argue.

(2026•山东临沂高二上期中)You might have heard that keeping a journal is a great way to record your thoughts and understand your emotions.Typical journaling involves only writing.13. And because there are so many ways to express yourself in an art journal,it’s a wonderful creative outlet for both beginners and more experienced creatives.
The focus on self-expression is where an art journal differs from a sketchbook.A sketchbook can have elements of art journaling, particularly when it comes to drawing or painting.14.
Art journaling is a way to practice self-care.It encourages you to take a little time for yourself — even if it’s just for 15 minutes a day. When you look back at what you’ve written or drawn, you can gain valuable insight into the challenges in your life. The point of creating a visual journal is not to make every page a masterpiece.15. Remember,it’s just for you!
Art journaling is completely customizable (可定制的) depending on your skills and interests. Many people choose to use mixed media and decorate their pages with drawing and painting materials.16. The most important thing when you begin your art journal, however,is selecting the right book.
17. Size is one.If you enjoy making large drawings, for instance, then a bigger book might be best.Art journals look great when you fill the page, so whatever size you choose, make sure it combines well with the way you like to work.Another factor to think about is the type of pages in the book.Since it’s a good chance you’ll be using mixed media, select a book whose paper can handle both drawing and painting.
A.Also, you become aware of your style.
B.This way, you’ll save not only your money, but also your nerves.
C.But it doesn’t have to include imagery that relates to your inner thoughts.
D.Others prefer sticking with a single medium that they’re comfortable with.
E.There are many considerations when it comes to picking your journal book.
F.But for those who are more visually-minded, an art journal is a great alternative.
G.You simply need to enjoy the act of creating something without worrying about whether it looks good.
