Ⅰ.阅读理解
A
(2026•福建宁德期中)About 4 billion people already experience water shortage for at least one month a year and this number could double by 2050, according to a 2024 study. Yet progress on water-shortage targets under the UN Sustainable Development Goals is off track. Professor Guenther, director of the UN University’s Institute, says that water shortage has largely been invisible to policymakers.
Fortunately, many technologies to make better use of water resources are developing. These include technologies to improve the efficiency of typically energy-intensive desalination (海水的脱盐) plants, and the improved biological treatment processes that effectively double the capacity of wastewater treatment plants to increase the water available for industrial and agricultural use.
Investment has not always been available for water resource solutions. The water sector is a $500 billion marketplace, representing a huge opportunity for investors. But investing in this area requires a willingness to wait for returns in the longer term.
Investment in new technologies is not the only answer, says Brooke, co-editor of Unconventional Water Resources, a book published by the UN earlier this year to urge the use of various and plentiful resources that until now have not received much attention. These range from the millions of cubic kilometers of water in deep land-based and seabed aquifers (含水层), and in fog and icebergs, to reusing water from the ballast holds (压载舱) of thousands of ships for agriculture.
“It is a human approach to think that sufficient technology will address the problem. But if there’s no rain, if the groundwater level gets lower and lower, if we cannot dig deeper, and there is no option for desalination, this is when we start thinking,” says Brooke. “But by then it’s very often too late.”
1.What causes the slow progress on water-shortage solutions according to Guenther?( )
A.Insufficient funds. B.The lack of effective policies.
C.Outdated technology. D.The rise of global warming.
2.What stops investors from investing in the water sector?( )
A.The limited market. B.The long profit cycle.
C.The high investment risk. D.The large initial investment.
3.Which measure did the UN suggest taking earlier this year?( )
A.Promoting water use efficiency. B.Improving wastewater treatment.
C.Building more desalination plants. D.Seeking alternative water resources.
4.What does the last paragraph mainly convey?( )
A.To issue a warning. B.To launch an appeal.
C.To make a prediction. D.To highlight an approach.
B
(2026•山东德州期末) With the rapid development of industry and the growth of the global population, environmental pollution has become an increasingly serious problem. Air pollution, water pollution, and soil pollution are threatening the health of humans and other living beings, and damaging the ecological balance. Protecting the environment has become a shared responsibility of all mankind.
Some people argue that environmental protection is the responsibility of governments and large enterprises. They believe that individuals are too small to make a difference. However, this view is incorrect. In fact, every individual’s daily actions have a significant impact on the environment. Small actions can add up to great changes. For example, reducing the use of plastic bags, saving water and electricity, and choosing green transportation can all contribute to environmental protection.
Governments and enterprises do have an important role to play in environmental protection. Governments should formulate and implement strict environmental protection laws and regulations to restrict the emission of pollutants. They should also invest in the development of clean energy and promote environmental protection technologies. Enterprises, on the other hand, should strengthen their sense of social responsibility. They should adopt environmentally friendly production methods, reduce pollution emissions, and actively participate in environmental protection activities.
However, the efforts of governments and enterprises are not enough. Individuals are the ultimate participants and beneficiaries of environmental protection. We should raise our environmental awareness and form good living habits. For instance, we can sort garbage to facilitate recycling, plant trees to improve air quality, and refuse to buy products that are harmful to the environment. Moreover, we can also spread environmental protection knowledge to our families and friends, encouraging more people to join the ranks of environmental protection.
In conclusion, protecting the environment is not the responsibility of a single group. It requires the joint efforts of governments, enterprises, and individuals. Only when all of us work together can we solve the environmental problems and create a clean and beautiful world for future generations.
5.What does the underlined phrase “make a difference” mean in paragraph 2?( )
A.Have an impact. B.Make money.
C.Cause trouble. D.Waste time.
6.What is the main idea of paragraph 3?( )
A.Individuals should take responsibility for environmental protection.
B.Governments and enterprises play an important role in environmental protection.
C.Environmental pollution is a serious problem.
D.Clean energy is the key to environmental protection.
7.What should individuals do to protect the environment?( )
A.Only rely on governments and enterprises.
B.Do nothing because individuals are too small.
C.Raise environmental awareness and form good living habits.
D.Only plant trees to improve air quality.
8.What is the main idea of the passage?( )
A.Environmental pollution is a serious problem.
B.Governments should formulate strict environmental laws.
C.Protecting the environment requires the joint efforts of governments, enterprises, and individuals.
D.Individuals are the most important part.

Green Campus Week: A Meaningful Practice
Last week, our school successfully held the “Green Campus Week” to raise environmental awareness.
The event included various activities such as waste sorting guidance, used item recycling, and campus cleaning. Students actively participated in collecting recyclables and cleaning up the schoolyard. They also learned how to classify different types of waste correctly.
The activity was highly praised by both students and teachers. Many said they not only gained practical knowledge but also felt a sense of achievement in contributing to a greener campus. We believe this event will inspire everyone to continue protecting the environment in daily life.
