National parks are more than scenic places on a map: they protect natural landscapes, preserve historic memories and provide visitors with opportunities for outdoor exploration. The following sites show how nature, history and recreation come together in different forms.
NATIONAL MONUMENT, Grand Portage
It brings to life the past of the North American fur trade from the perspective of the Anishinaabe (阿尼什纳比族), who partnered closely with the North West Company. Walk along wilderness trails that once served as vital trade routes for early travelers and fur traders. Discover the ancient camps and a reconstructed trading depot (仓库) in its historic location. See how it shaped co-management with the government today.
NATIONAL RIVER AREA, Mississippi
In the middle of a bustling urban setting, this 72-mile river park offers quiet stretches for fishing, boating, birdwatching, bicycling, camping and hiking. And there are plenty of visitor centers and trails that highlight the fascinating human history of the Mississippi River. This is a great place to start your adventure of this iconic river.
NATIONAL RIVERWAY, Saint Croix
Grab your paddle and love for adventure to the St. Croix, offering over 200 miles of clean water that glides and rushes through a forested landscape. Paddle, boat, fish, and camp among this wild and scenic beauty. Hiking and historic towns also offer rewarding alternatives for your outdoor exploration.
21.What can we learn about Grand Portage National Monument?
A.Its role in protecting local wildlife.

根据NATIONAL MONUMENT, Grand Portage部分“It brings to life the past of the North American fur trade from the perspective of the Anishinaabe (阿尼什纳比族), who partnered closely with the North West Company. Walk along wilderness trails that once served as vital trade routes for early travelers and fur traders. Discover the ancient camps and a reconstructed trading depot (仓库) in its historic location.(它从阿尼什纳比族的视角还原了北美皮毛贸易的过往,该族群曾与西北公司密切合作。沿着曾是早期旅客与皮毛商人重要贸易通道的荒野小径漫步,你能在原址找到古老营地与复原重建的贸易仓库。)”可知,大波特奇国家纪念区的核心是皮毛贸易集散地的历史。
22.细节理解题。根据NATIONAL RIVER AREA, Mississippi部分“In the middle of a bustling urban setting, this 72-mile river park offers quiet stretches for fishing, boating, birdwatching, bicycling, camping and hiking.(这片72英里长的滨河公园地处繁华城区之中,拥有静谧水域,可供垂钓、划船、观鸟、骑行、露营与徒步。)”以及NATIONAL RIVERWAY, Saint Croix部分“Paddle, boat, fish, and camp among this wild and scenic beauty.(你可以在这片原始秀丽的风光里划桨、泛舟、垂钓、露营。)”

The following sites show how nature, history and recreation come together in different forms.(国家公园不只是地图上的风景胜地:它们保护自然地貌、留存历史记忆,并为游客提供户外探索的机会。
B
US national parks aren’t dogfriendly; while we knew this was the case for some parks, we had heard it varied from park to park. My husband, Mitchell, and I are always on the lookout for dogfriendly options at each national park. We have been to quite a few national parks now and in general, the rule is that dogs must always be on a leash (用狗绳拴住) and stay on paved (铺好的) path areas, no hiking trails (小径).
Yosemite was probably one of the more dogfriendly national parks we’ve been to as there was a longer paved bike trail in addition to a few shorter paved pathways that were dogfriendly. However, the hiking trails were still a nogo. For this reason, we haven’t spent as much time in Yosemite National Park and instead have enjoyed the state parks and national forest that surrounds them.
Dogfriendliness aside, we have not for a second regretted visiting a national park and Yosemite was no exception. You must visit Yosemite if you ever get the chance. There were truly beautiful mountains and even though Mitchell and I grew up in the shadow of (在……附近) the Rockies we were completely impressed by this new landscape. We were fortunate to visit in the fall which had the added benefit of the beautiful colors and fewer people! The landscape easily looked like it could be a painting.
After Yosemite, we had originally planned to make our way to Death Valley. After some discussion, we decided to take a little detour (绕道) and visit Lake Tahoe. The lake was beautiful and there seemed to be signs everywhere for ski hills and endless outdoor activities. We ended up staying for two days at the Zephyr Cove RV Park and Resort. We were able to wash clothes on site, shower and even use their WiFi to catch up on work. We had ended up traveling farther than we planned each day and it was nice to recharge and stay in one place a little longer. We've come to the conclusion we’re still working on slowing down.
24.What is the rule for dogs in US national parks?
A.They are allowed on all trails in dogfriendly parks.
B.They are allowed on hiking areas in certain parks.
C.They are permitted to be offleash.
D.They are limited to paved areas.
25.Why did the couple stay in Yosemite National Park for a short time?
A.They preferred state parks.
B.They had been there many times.
C.They wanted to hike with their dog.
D.They needed to travel farther than planned.
26.Why does the author mention the Rockies?
A.To stress the beauty of Yosemite.
B.To express her desire to visit the Rockies.
C.To describe the breathtaking landscape of her hometown.
D.To show the differences between the Rockies and Yosemite.
27.What can be inferred about the couple from the last paragraph?
A.They felt relaxed after slowing down.
B.They didn’t reach their intended destination.
C.They visited Lake Tahoe simply out of convenience.
D.They didn’t enjoy traveling because of their work stress.
【答案】24.D 25.C 26.A 27.A
根据第一段中“We have been to quite a few national parks now and in general, the rule is that dogs must always be on a leash (用狗绳拴住) and stay on paved (铺好的) path areas, no hiking trails (小径).(我们现在已经去过不少国家公园了,总的来说,规则是狗必须总是拴着狗链,并且待在铺设好的小路上,不能走徒步路线)”可知,美国国家公园对宠物的规定是:只能在铺好的路上,不能去徒步旅行的小径,故选D。
根据第二段中“However, the hiking trails were still a nogo. For this reason, we haven’t spent as much time in Yosemite National Park and instead have enjoyed the state parks and national forest that surrounds them.(然而,徒步旅行仍然是一个禁忌。出于这个原因,我们没有在约塞米蒂国家公园花那么多时间,而是享受了周围的州立公园和国家森林)”可知,作者和丈夫没有在约塞米蒂国家公园游览很长时间是因为他们想带狗一起徒步,而约塞米蒂国家公园不允许狗进入徒步的小路,故选C。
26.推理判断题。根据第三段中“You must visit Yosemite if you ever get the chance. There were truly beautiful mountains and even though Mitchell and I grew up in the shadow of (在……附近) the Rockies we were completely impressed by this new landscape.(如果有机会,你一定要去约塞米蒂。那里有真正美丽的山脉,尽管米切尔和我是在落基山脉的阴影下长大的,但我们对这一新景观印象深刻)”可知,虽然作者和丈夫从小生活在落基山风景区附近,但是约塞米蒂国家公园的景色给他们留下了深刻的印象,因此作者提到落基山是为了强调约塞米蒂国家公园的景色很美,故选A。
27.推理判断题。根据最后一段中“We had ended up traveling farther than we planned each day and it was nice to recharge and stay in one place a little longer. We’ve come to the conclusion we’re still working on slowing down.(我们每天的行程都比计划的要远,能在一个地方多待一会儿,给自己充电感觉真好。我们得出的结论是,我们仍在努力放慢速度)”可知,作者在放慢速度后感觉很放松,故选A。
C
It was a cold Saturday night in February. Some 200 New Yorkers carefully made their way to the reservoir (水库) in the hopes of catching a glimpse of the magical snowy owl, who had touched down in the park the week before in what was reported as the first visit there by the species in more than 130 years.
Except for a few excited screams from children, people were quiet — patiently awaiting the owl’s arrival at the reservoir’s north gatehouse. The snowy owl did not disappoint. She flew down from the darkness and surveyed the water and the people holding phones and cameras before taking off into the night to the applause of her many fans. They simply wanted to see this lovely creature whose improbable appearance seemed to signify hope after the lockdown — or at least an excuse to leave their apartments and take part, however briefly, in one of those precious shared moments.
New Yorkers who had long taken Central Park for granted felt a renewed love for this rectangle of green in the heart of the big city and, of course, its amazing wildlife. That the park is a beautiful and essential place for peace and joy is something that humans have only come to fully appreciate during these recent times of uncertainty.
Central Park was originally planned and constructed during another difficult time in the nation’s history — in the years before and during the American Civil War. Unlike many European parks that had originally been built for the aristocracy (贵族), Central Park was designed as a public space. In its chief architect Frederick Law Olmsted’s words, the poor and rich alike could “easily go there after their day’s work is done” and “stroll for an hour, seeing, hearing, and feeling nothing of the noise of the streets.”
As spring turns into summer, we see people sitting on the grass or benches — catching some sun, having family picnics, or tapping away on their laptops and iPads. Just being in proximity to other people in Central Park gave us a sense of community — the sense that we would somehow persevere.
28.What did people do in Central Park on that Saturday night?
A.They cheered for each other. B.They paid their first visit.
C.They came for a rare sight. D.They appreciated a water event.
29.Why did New Yorkers find a renewed love for Central Park?
A.Because it offers much-needed shelter.
B.Because it is conveniently located.
C.Because people like its wildlife.
D.Because people are long used to it.
30.What does the author mainly intend to do in Paragraph 4?
A.Introduce a new opinion. B.Add background information.
C.Give some examples. D.Make a comparison.
31.What do the underlined words “in proximity to” in Paragraph 5 mean?
A.Close to B.In comparison with
C.At a distance from D.Free from
【答案】28.C 29.C 30.B 31.A
根据第一段中“Some 200 New Yorkers carefully made their way to the reservoir (水库) in the hopes of catching a glimpse of the magical snowy owl, who had touched down in the park the week before in what was reported as the first visit there by the species in more than 130 years. (大约200名纽约市民小心翼翼地前往水库,希望能一睹这只神奇的雪鸮的风采。据报道,这是该物种130多年来首次造访该公园)”可知,人们在周六的晚上来到中心公园主要了是观看一只130多年来首次来到这里的雪鸮,即他们来这里是为了一个罕见的景象。故选C。
29.细节理解题。根据第三段中的“New Yorkers who had long taken Central Park for granted felt a renewed love for this rectangle of green in the heart of the big city and, of course, its amazing wildlife. (纽约市民长期以来早已习惯了这座位于大城市中心的长方形绿地公园,现在对它又重新产生了热爱,当然是因为这只令人惊叹的野生动物。)”可知,纽约市民重新爱上了中央公园是因为他们喜欢这里的野生动物。故选C。
30.推理判断题。根据第四段中的“Central Park was originally planned and constructed during another difficult time in the nation’s history — in the years before and during the American Civil War. (中央公园最初是在美国历史上的另一个困难时期——美国内战之前和期间——规划和建造的。)”可知,第四段交代了中央公园建设的特殊历史时期,为文章介绍中央公园提供了历史背景。故选B。
31.词句猜测题。根据第五段“in Central Park gave us a sense of community — the sense that we would somehow persevere. (仅仅是身处中央公园,就给了我们一种社群归属感,一种让我们觉得无论如何都能坚持下去的感觉。)”可知,身处中央公园,与他人靠近,就给了我们一种社群归属感。只有人们之间近距离接触的时候才会有归属感,in proximity to的意思是“接近”。Close to“接近”,符合题意。故选A。
D
If you take a walk through a Pittsburgh city park, you might come across a group of goats (山羊) eating poison ivy, one type of plants harmful to the ecosystem (生态系统). It is part of an experiment (实验).
By eating a lot of plants, goats greatly cut down the plants that need to be treated with herbicides (除草剂). Herbicides are traditionally used to clear out unwanted plants. There is glyphosate in many herbicides, which is reported to lead to cancer — a serious illness. Herbicides can remain in the soil and on plants, and during rain, they are washed into streams and rivers, further polluting the ecosystem.
There’s a need for goats all across the U.S., including California and New Mexico, where they help in wildfire prevention. Goats are sure-footed, and they enjoy climbing up and getting to the plants that are difficult for humans to clear away. They prefer woody plants, soft shoots and bushes (灌木丛) compared with other plant-eaters, such as cows, who are happy with grasses and low-lying plants. This makes goats perfect for clearing areas of high-growing woody plants that strengthen wildfires.
However, there are challenges in using goats. Their hairs are thin, which means they couldn’t work outside in cold winter. Goats can break seeds (种子) of harmful plants down in their stomachs, so they don’t spread the plants they’re eating, but this also makes them easy to suffer from stomach illnesses.
But when you think about the bigger picture, these problems are just small. One good thing that came from Pittsburgh’s goat experiment was the public interest it received. After the experiment finished, many other cities wanted to know how they could start a similar project. People, it turns out, also like goats. Park visitors love seeing the goats at work. Their presence brings a lot of joy and adds to the park experience!
32.Why are goats used in some city parks in the U.S.?
A.To study their eating habits. B.To cut down the costs on herbicides.
C.To attract more tourists to the parks. D.To deal with harmful plants in a natural way.
33.What can we infer about goats from paragraph 3?
A.They are no better at climbing than cows.
B.They prefer low-lying plants to woody bushes.
C.They help prevent wildfires by eating specific plants.
D.They are mainly raised in California and New Mexico.
34.What is the public’s attitude towards the goat project?
A.Positive. B.Worried. C.Uncaring. D.Unclear.
35.Which of the following would be the best title for the text?
A.The Disadvantages of Using Herbicides in Parks
B.How Goats Help Protect the Ecosystem in the U.S.
C.Different Ways to Prevent Wildfires Across the U.S.
D.How Pittsburgh’s Park Experiment Was Carried Out
【答案】32.D 33.C 34.A 35.B
根据第一段“If you take a walk through a Pittsburgh city park, you might come across a group of goats eating poison ivy, one type of plants harmful to the ecosystem. It is part of an experiment.(如果你在匹兹堡的城市公园散步,可能会遇到一群山羊在吃毒藤——一种对生态系统有害的植物。这是一项实验的一部分。)”和第二段“By eating a lot of plants, goats greatly cut down the plants that need to be treated with herbicides.(通过大量进食植物,山羊大幅减少了需要用除草剂处理的植物数量。)”
根据第三段“They prefer woody plants, soft shoots and bushes compared with other plant-eaters, such as cows, who are happy with grasses and low-lying plants. This makes goats perfect for clearing areas of high-growing woody plants that strengthen wildfires.(与其他食草动物如喜欢草和低矮植物的牛相比,山羊更喜欢木本植物、嫩枝和灌木丛。这使得山羊非常适合清理那些会加剧野火的高大木本植物区域。)”可知,山羊通过食用特定植物来帮助预防野火。故选C。
34.推理判断题。根据第五段“One good thing that came from Pittsburgh’s goat experiment was the public interest it received. After the experiment finished, many other cities wanted to know how they could start a similar project. People, it turns out, also like goats. Park visitors love seeing the goats at work.(匹兹堡山羊实验带来的一个好处是获得了公众的关注。实验结束后,许多其他城市想知道如何启动类似的项目。事实证明,人们也喜欢山羊。公园游客喜欢看山羊工作。)”可知,公众对山羊项目的态度是积极的。故选A。
根据第一段“If you take a walk through a Pittsburgh city park, you might come across a group of goats eating poison ivy, one type of plants harmful to the ecosystem. It is part of an experiment.(如果你在匹兹堡的城市公园散步,可能会遇到一群山羊在吃毒藤——一种对生态系统有害的植物。这是一项实验的一部分。)”、第二段“By eating a lot of plants, goats greatly cut down the plants that need to be treated with herbicides.(通过大量进食植物,山羊大幅减少了需要用除草剂处理的植物数量。)”以及第三段“There’s a need for goats all across the U.S., including California and New Mexico, where they help in wildfire prevention.(美国各地都需要山羊,包括加利福尼亚州和新墨西哥州,在那里它们有助于预防野火。)”

Nature comforts our stressed-out souls. We know that nature is the best prescription, and new research suggests we can gain benefits while visiting parks. 36 The study published in the International Journal of Environmental Health Research found that spending 20 minutes in a city park can make you happier, regardless of whether you use that time to exercise or not.
“In general, we found park visitors reported an improvement in emotional well-being after the park visit,” the study’s lead author, Professor Hon K. Yuen at the University of Alabama at Birmingham said in a statement. “ 37 Instead, we found time spent in the park is related to improved emotional well-being.”
For the study, 94 adults visited three city parks in Mountain Brook, Alabama. 38 They also completed a questionnaire about their subjective well-being before and after their visit. A visit of between 20 and 25 minutes showed the best results, with a roughly 64% increase in the participants’ self-reported well-being, even if they didn’t move a great deal in the park. 39
The study group was truly small, as the study’s co-author and another UAB professor, Gavin Jenkins, acknowledged. 40 The challenge facing cities is that there is increasing evidence about the value of city parks but we continue to see the decrease of these spaces.
A.The length of their physical activity was tracked.

根据空前的“Nature comforts our stressed-out souls. We know that nature is the best prescription, and new research suggests we can gain benefits while visiting parks. (大自然能抚慰我们疲惫的心灵。我们都知道大自然是最好的解药,新的研究表明逛公园就能让我们收获益处。)”以及空后的“The study published in the International Journal of Environmental Health Research found that spending 20 minutes in a city park can make you happier, regardless of whether you use that time to exercise or not. (发表在《国际环境健康研究杂志》上的这项研究发现,在城市公园待20分钟就能让你更快乐,无论你是否利用这段时间进行运动。)”可知,此空应强调逛公园获益的便捷性,无需特意前往远郊或大型公园,E选项“The best part of it is that you needn’t visit a national park or go far out of your way. (最棒的一点是,你不必去国家公园,也不用特意跑很远的路。)”中的it指代前文逛公园获益这件事,且引出后文城市公园的研究结论,符合语境。故选E项。
37.根据空前的““In general, we found park visitors reported an improvement in emotional well-being after the park visit,” the study’s lead author, Professor Hon K. Yuen at the University of Alabama at Birmingham said in a statement. (“总体而言,我们发现公园游客在游览结束后,情绪健康状况均有改善。” 该研究的第一作者、伯明翰阿拉巴马大学的韩启元教授在一份声明中表示。)”以及空后的“Instead, we found time spent in the park is related to improved emotional well-being. (相反,我们发现是在公园里度过的时间与情绪健康的改善有关。)”可知,此空应说明研究排除了身体活动量对情绪的影响,G选项“But we didn’t find levels of physical activity are linked to improved emotional well-being. (但我们并未发现身体活动量与情绪健康的改善存在关联。)”中的but体现转折关系,且与后文的instead相呼应,符合语境。故选G项。
38.根据空前的“For the study, 94 adults visited three city parks in Mountain Brook, Alabama. (在这项研究中,94名成年人走访了阿拉巴马州芒廷布鲁克市的三座城市公园。)”以及空后的“They also completed a questionnaire about their subjective well-being before and after their visit. (他们还在走访前后填写了一份关于主观幸福感的调查问卷。)”可知,此空应说明研究对参与者的另一项监测内容,与填写问卷形成并列的研究步骤,A选项“The length of their physical activity was tracked. (他们的身体活动时长受到了监测。)”中的their指代前文的94 adults,且与后文的also相呼应,符合语境。故选A项。
39.根据空前的“A visit of between 20 and 25 minutes showed the best results, with a roughly 64% increase in the participants’ self-reported well-being, even if they didn’t move a great deal in the park. (待20到25分钟的效果最好,参与者自述的幸福感提升了约64%,即便他们在公园里没怎么活动。)”可知,此空应总结该研究结论的意义,即不同体能的人都能从逛附近公园中获益,F选项“This means people can benefit from visiting a nearby park, regardless of physical ability. (这意味着无论体能如何,人们都能从逛附近的公园中获益。)”中的this指代前文的完整研究结果,符合语境。故选F项。
40.根据空前的“The study group was truly small, as the study’s co-author and another UAB professor, Gavin Jenkins, acknowledged. (该研究的合著者、阿拉巴马大学伯明翰分校的另一教授加文·詹金斯承认,研究样本的规模确实很小。)”以及空后的“The challenge facing cities is that there is increasing evidence about the value of city parks but we continue to see the decrease of these spaces. (城市面临的挑战是,尽管有越来越多的证据表明城市公园的价值,但这类空间的面积却在持续减少。)”可知,此空应形成转折,说明尽管样本存在局限,但研究结论依然有重要意义,C选项“However, its findings pointed out the importance of city parks. (不过,这项研究的发现指出了城市公园的重要性。)”中的its指代前文的这项研究,且与后文城市公园的价值相呼应,符合语境。故选C项。

第二节(满分25分)
67.阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
It was a cool autumn morning when my friends and I decided to have an adventure that would push the boundaries (边界) of our comfort zones. We had heard of an abandoned (废弃的) town within the beautiful mountains of Colorado, in which there is a huge cave. The attraction of the unknown was too strong to resist, and we packed our equipment with a mix of excitement and fear.
Our journey began with a scenic drive along the winding mountain roads. The landscape was breathtaking, with the golden color of fall painting the trees and the cool air filling our lungs. However, as we went deeper into the wilderness, the roads became less traveled. We relied on the GPS signal to guide us to our destination.
After hours of driving, we reached the end of the road and continued on a dirt trail that seemed to disappear into the forest. The trees closed in around us, casting shadows as the sun dipped lower in the sky. It was then that we encountered the first of many difficulties: a fallen tree blocking our path. With no other option, we had to begin the hard task of clearing the way, which took us half an hour.
As night fell, we finally arrived at the town. The buildings were old; their windows were broken; the air was thick with an unsettling silence. We set up camp on the edge of the town, the flames of our campfire the only source of light in the vast darkness.
The next morning, we explored the town through the empty streets. Finally, we discovered the huge cave. Its entrance is very large and surrounded by a lot of weeds. The terrible stories we had heard came rushing back within those depths. Our minds raced with the fright we had encountered. Despite the fear, we began to investigate the huge cave.
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150个左右;
With flashlights (手电筒) in hand, we went into the cave.

We thought we were lost.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
One possible version:
With flashlights (手电筒) in hand, we went into the cave. The air grew colder, and the walls seemed to close in around us. We walked through tunnels that branched off in multiple directions, each one more terrifying than the last. It was then that we heard a faint whisper that seemed to come from everywhere. Panic set in, and we hurried back the way we had come. However, in our hurry, we took a wrong turn. The exit disappeared, replaced by endless dark passages. Our flashlights’ batteries dying, the darkness pressed in on us.
We thought we were lost. However, just then a faint light appeared in the distance. We followed it, our hope growing with each step. The light led us to an old wooden ladder, which we climbed with desperate urgency. We had found our way out, but the experience had left us shaken. We returned to our camp finally. The memories of the abandoned town and the depths of the cave would stay with us forever. We faced our fears and became stronger.

A.Positive. B.Worried. C.Uncaring. D.Unclear.

B.How Goats Help Protect the Ecosystem in the U.S.
C.Different Ways to Prevent Wildfires Across the U.S.
D.How Pittsburgh’s Park Experiment Was Carried Out

B.You usually visit a small green space in your neighborhood.
C.However, its findings pointed out the importance of city parks.
D.If you want to feel happier, you just need to exercise for 20 minutes in a park.
E.The best part of it is that you needn’t visit a national park or go far out of your way.
F.This means people can benefit from visiting a nearby park, regardless of physical ability.
G.But we didn’t find levels of physical activity are linked to improved emotional well-being.

范文(Version 1)
Dear Chris,
Thanks for your interest in the small park near my home.
The landscape is a feast for the eyes, with tall trees and a green lawn dotted with colorful wildflowers. So clear is the small lake in its center that you can see fish swimming beneath the surface.
What attracts me most is the quiet bench under an old oak tree, where I often read or daydream. Never have I found a place that brings me so much inner peace. I hope you can come and visit it someday!
Yours,
Li Hua
