B Miniatures (微缩模型) of the television and film sets that you love are so detailed that you think you are looking at photos of Monica’s living room from Friends, the comic store from The Big Bang Theory, or Flourish and Blotts bookshop from Harry Potter. They are the creations of Los Angeles artist Bridget McCarty whose attention to detail is absolutely amazing. McCarty has not only recreated the sets, according to My Modern Met, she has also included tiny items (小物品) of what made the sets memorable. The miniatures are so detailed that it can take up to a month to complete one. McCarty was inspired by the miniatures her grandmother collected. As a child, she was never allowed to touch those fine items, which made her even more attracted to them. McCarty began making miniatures as a hobby while she was studying animation (动画) in school but she soon started going to exhibitions and set up a small online shop. People were so fascinated by her work that it became a full-time job when she was 22. “Other artists bought my pieces and that motivated me to keep it up,” said McCarty. McCarty makes them from what she described as “anything you can imagine”. “When I go to the craft store, watch my favorite TV shows and movies, and visit theme parks or other places, my mind will be blown by ideas,” she said. The miniature sets are doll-sized rooms that are made from wooden boxes and are dimensionally 50cm or less. The scale (尺寸) is perfect even to the food being cooked in a kitchen and the tiny bag of chips being poured into an equally tiny bowl. “Though each work takes a lot of time and energy, I love having a finished piece and knowing I used my best skills to create it,” she said. “It can really take you away to another world and inspire many more people.” 24. Why are the television and film sets mentioned in paragraph 1? A. To show how amazing McCarty’s creations are. B. To prove the popularity of McCarty’s art pieces. C. To highlight the significance of art appreciation. D. To illustrate the procedure of creating miniatures. 25. What caused McCarty to fall in love with miniatures? A. Her college major. B. Her grandmother’s collections. C. Other artists’ recognition. D. Frequent visits to exhibitions. 26. What does McCarty do to create her work? A. Complete each piece within a few days. B. Take up many roles in the film industry. C. Draw inspiration from daily experiences. D. Copy designs from other miniature artists. 27. What does McCarty think of creating miniatures? A. Useless but relaxing. B. Effortless and inspiring. C. Challenging but meaningful. D. Time-consuming and uninteresting. C According to NASA, wildfires have doubled worldwide because of climate change. Throughout the globe, governments and environmentalists have been trying to find ways to curb the fires. One particular national park in Spain has found a solution that has been keeping it fire-free for over ten years: donkeys (驴). Since 2014, the Firefighting Donkey Battalion made up of 18 donkeys has been preventing wildfires in Doñana National Park in Doñana, Spain. The mission of these donkeys is simple: to eat the dry brush that usually causes and strengthens wildfires. The donkeys spend up to seven hours a day grazing (吃草) and clearing a 130 by 50 feet area of dried grass, scrub, and other vegetation (植被). While humans can do this type of dry brush clearing, using donkeys for this work is arguably more effective. Donkeys are able to quietly walk in areas that vehicles can’t reach. In exchange for finishing the meal, the donkeys get lots of water and rest. No money or other supplies needed. The donkeys’ bodies are also built for this kind of environmental work, too. Their stomachs can eat dry grass repeatedly without issues. These daily grazings slowly but surely remove possible sources of fires. Having donkeys or other animals graze in such areas was once more common in agriculture before modern farming. Some argue that the mechanization of farming and urbanization have reduced the number of grazing animals. This in turn leads to more vegetation growth, which creates dry spots where more wildfires can occur. This method has been so successful that other areas of Spain have adopted it. In 2020, Tivissa started the Burros Bomberos project with three donkeys, and now they have 40 donkeys grazing and clearing nearly 400 hectares of land. The Andrea Association in Allariz uses a team of donkeys to clear and maintain nearly 1,000 hectares of a biosphere reserve. According to the GPS used to monitor the donkeys’ activity, the group of grazers travel 19 kilometers per day to feed. 28. What does the underlined word “curb” in paragraph 1 probably mean? A. Forecast. B. Survive. C. Monitor. D. Control. 29. What are the 18 donkeys expected to do? A. Figure out signs of wildfires. B. Remove possible sources of fires. C. Eat fresh grass in several parks. D. Help firefighters put out wildfires. 30. What does paragraph 3 focus on concerning donkeys? A. Their advantages. B. Their responsibilities. C. Their survival strategies. D. Their incredible achievements. 31. What can be known about the method? A. It is widely accepted. B. It is limited to farmland. C. It threatens donkeys’ lives. D. It was uncommon in the past. D More than a generation ago, email was an exciting novelty. When the magic words “you’ve got mail” popped on the screen, people raced to their computers to view their messages. Email ended the wait for the postman along with the need to search for paper and stamps to respond. Now, change is in the air. As Gen Z embraces a lifestyle that values slower and more intentional ways of connecting, old-fashioned “snail mail” is regaining its popularity. “Physical mail creates a pause (暂停),” Atlanta-based artist and graphic design student Jaylan Birdsong tells Dazed. “It asks you to slow down, touch paper, sit with an image, tape it to a wall, or place it into a journal.” Birdsong said sharing her work online with her fans often made it feel as though it was disappearing into a void (空白). That feeling helped inspire the Perch Post, a mail club that sends a themed monthly envelope filled with her printed creations. What started as 25 fans has grown into a community of 1,600 and the number continues to rise. People are also longing for connection, and pen pal services offer that free of charge, The Guardian reports. Writer Rachel Symes may be the fairy godmother of modern pen pals. As a health crisis hit in spring, 2020, Symes started the pen-pal matching service Penpalooza to connect people through physical letters. Today, more than 15,000 people have signed up for the service. Symes tells The Guardian that as an outgoing person, hearing from people brings her joy. She also believes the positive impact goes both ways. “Know that your letter will be met with absolute excitement,” she says. “Whatever you put in the mail, even if it does not rise to the great letter-writing heights that you someday hope to reach, it is still a surprise on its way to enliven someone’s mailbox.” Unlike email, which gets removed in a flash or lost in an overloaded inbox, letters can be stored in a carefully decorated box, treasured and reread over and over. When it comes to sparking joy, there is nothing like a letter in the mailbox. 32. What phenomenon is described in paragraph 1? A. Email was highly popular. B. Computers were hardly seen. C. People were closely connected. D. Various lifestyles were exchanged. 33. Why did Birdsong set up the Perch Post? A. To battle loneliness. B. To collect others’ creations. C. To live a rich and pressure-free life. D. To connect with her fans on a deeper level. 34. What does Symes say about writing letters to others? A. It is beneficial to both sides. B. It can cause health problems. C. It must be perfectly completed. D. It is a short-lived form of communication. 35. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. Mail Clubs Are Spreading Faster B. Letters Strengthen Connections C. Email Has Yet to Become Popular D. Participating in an adventurous physical activity can lead to higher levels of what experts call self-efficacy, or a belief in your abilities. Other types of adventure — running for public office, doing improv (即兴表演) at your local comedy club, or taking virtual singing lessons — build your confidence, too. The more you push past your comfort zone and feel proud of yourself for doing so, the more confident you’ll become. You will feel more content with life. Adventurous people tend to have stronger feelings of satisfaction about how they’re living their lives. “ 39 ,” says Frank Farley, a professor at Temple University. “That is because participating in something challenging is associated with pleasure — even when the activity itself is difficult, completing it brings joy.” You will feel a sense of flow. When you’re in the zone, meaning highly focused and engaged, everything else except what you’re concentrating on falls away, and a general sense of well-being takes over. This feel-good state is known as the flow, and research shows that participants in adventure sports are able to achieve it. If your brain is in the flow state, rhythmic spikes of dopamine, which is associated with engagement and pleasure, are likely to occur. 40 . A. You will gain more confidence B. They always have a sense of happiness C. You will step out of your comfort zone D. And that’s just one of the many things adventure does for you E. It was the first Easter we had ever spent away from home. Being an anxious and sensitive six-year-old, I had asked my mom several times if the Easter Bunny would be able to find us. She assured me there would be eggs. On Easter morning, we found the Easter Bunny had left eggs on the hotel’s main lawn (草地) for all the kids. As I joined the other kids, I found they were much bigger than me. The hotel staff member in charge of the hunt explained the rules — only kids could pick up the eggs and adults could just provide help or encouragement. My heart raced as I watched the other kids get into a pose to start. When the staff member yelled (大叫) “GO!”, the other kids ran from tree to tree looking for the plastic Easter eggs filled with candy. I ran to the closest tree but found nothing. My dad waved me on encouragingly as my mom walked behind me. When I looked across the lawn and saw others holding up eggs, I knew my chances were becoming slimmer. Just then, my mom pointed to a small tree. “Look! There’s one!” A shiny blue egg was resting on the ground against the base. I looked up at her with excitement. But instead of smiling back, she was staring to the left, at a bigger kid. My mom said to me, “Run after me!” I had never seen my petite (娇小的) mom run before. She had been born with weak knees and had worn special shoes to correct a foot problem. To be honest, I sometimes felt embarrassed for my mom’s “strange” figure. I still remembered the school fair where other kids pointed at her and whispered. From then on, I always begged her to stay behind me in crowded places. She never complained — she would just smile and take a step back. 注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Desiring to get the egg, I followed my mom’s advice. _____________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ I held up the shiny blue egg and smiled at my mom. ______________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2026~2027学年度高二年级第一学期开学考试·英语 参考答案、提示及评分细则 听力部分录音稿 (Text 1) M: Did you get everything I asked for from the store, Amy? Ashwath Kaushik was just 8 years, 6 months and 11 days old when he beat Polish grandmaster Jacek Stopa on February 18th, 2024 in Switzerland. Ashwath broke the previous record, which was only just set in January, when the Serbian player Leonid Ivanovic — then 8 years and 11 months old — became the first player under the age of 9 to beat a grandmaster. Ashwath, who was born in India, moved to Singapore with his family, and now represents Singapore in international chess events. According to The Star, a newspaper in Malaysia, Ashwath started playing chess with his grandparents when he was 4 years old. He now plays chess for 2 hours a day on weekdays, and 6 to 7 hours a day on weekends. Watching her from behind, I noticed her running was awkward — her knees bent oddly and her steps were uneven. Yet she never slowed down — neither did I. She reached the tree first, turned around, and waved her arms wildly. “Over here! Quick,” she shouted, standing right in front of the egg. I ran harder, my heart pounding. When I finally got there, I bent down and picked up the shiny blue egg before the other kid arrived. I held up the shiny blue egg and smiled at my mom. She was out of breath, her face red, but her eyes were full of joy and pride. I suddenly remembered all the times I had felt ashamed of her petite figure. But at that time, I saw her differently. She had run, for the first time, for me — with her weak knees — so that I would not leave empty-handed and disappointed. From that day on, I never felt ashamed of my mom again. 75.where考查定语从句。分析句子结构可知,该空引导的是一个限制性定语从句,从句缺少状语,先行词是 agreement,故用关系副词where。 第一节 One possible version: Dear Peter, On behalf of our English Club,I'm writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your
