On February 4, Wang Yujia, 37, became the first Chinese musician to win the Grammy Award for the best classical instrumental solo (独奏奖) category.
Wang’s special position in the classical music world is marked by her excellent skills. In January 2023, Wang presented a three and a half hours’ show in New York, which was described by the New York Times as a “once-in-a-lifetime” musical event. Among the four piano concertos (协奏曲) Wang played, Piano Concerto No. 3, known as one of “the hardest concertos”, challenges musicians with all kinds of skills. Cyril Smith from Britain once said that it required the strength of shoveling (铲) 10 tons of coal to play the concerto. Moreover, the piece requires the musician to show a great number of feelings and themes including sadness, heroism and happiness.
Although there were all the great challenges, Wang didn’t find it a problem to complete the music. “There are big physical challenges on the piano, but it is even harder to use special skills to finish the work. That’s what is really fun.” Wang told China Daily.
The fashionable musician is also known for the bright colors, brave designs of her clothes and wearing 10 cm high heels on the show. This caused many reviews against her in the past, with some saying she wanted to attract people. But Wang is not afraid of being true to herself, saying to The Guardian, “If the music is beautiful and makes people happy, why not dress to fit? It’s about power of music.”
She hopes people notice that below the surface is her great love for classical music. “The more I play a concerto, the more to be found. It’s like a long-term exploration,” Wang said.
27.Why did the New York Times use the word “once-in-a-lifetime” to describe Wang’s show?
A.To tell us the show was the best of all times.
B.To tell us one could only have the show once in a lifetime.
C.To tell us Wang Yujia impressed people deeply with her show.
28.What can we infer from what Cyril Smith said?
A.Piano Concerto No.3 is the most beautiful concerto.
B.A musician needs great strength while playing the concerto.
C.Shoveling 10 tons of coal is important before playing the show.
29.Which of the following clothes is likely to be chosen for her next show?
A.A bright green dress with high heels.
B.A dark blue suit with a pair of boots.
C.A black dress with a pair of white gloves.
30.Which of the following can best describe Wang Yujia?
A.Friendly and confident. B.Honest and helpful. C.Powerful and fashionable.

Hello, I’m David Smith. Now I’d like to share with you the story of how music has had a strong influence on my life.
Have you ever faced a time when things looked dark and you had no hope at all? Two years ago, my body ached all the time. So I went to the doctor. I was told I had a serious illness which was difficult to cure (治愈). And I thought I didn’t have much longer to live. I was very afraid and I felt so lonely and discouraged.

I enjoy doing planting activities because it's relaxing and also a good way to learn about nature. My class has an orange tree, and we take good care of IT. Next month, we will be able to pick our own oranges, and then each of us can bring some fresh oranges back home. It's amazing to share the oranges grown by ourselves with our family. What does Music Bring to Me?
Music is like a key, which opens a door to the world for me.
Music brings me hope and strength during hard times, offering words of wisdom that guide me through life’s challenges. Music helps me build a good relationship. When I was young, I used to be shy. As I took up playing the guitar to deal with my shyness, I made lots of friends. Besides, music opens my eyes. Through music, I can broaden my horizons, sharpen my mind, and deepen my understanding.
Also, music reminds me of some happy memories. It makes me remember the love and care my teachers and friends have given me. It tells me the best things in life are free.
Overall, music enriches my life, making it more meaningful and fulfilling. I hope all of us will value music and make it a part of our life.

Do you listen to the songs that your parents like? You probably think the music that they like is old and dull and the songs you like are much cooler.
But researchers at the University of Cambridge, the UK, collected data (资料) from more than 250, 000 people over the past 10 years. They noticed that as people age, their social circumstances (环境) change, and so does their music taste. There are three musical periods that people pass through as they grow. The first period comes in the teenage years, during which time people like rock because people regard themselves as independent individuals (个体) .
But as people move into early adulthood, their lifestyle changes—they get to know more people and want to build close relationships with others. As a result, they prefer pop which are often played at parties.
When middle age comes, people like to listen to jazz and classical. They also like country, folk, and blues, “During this period of life, many people often feel tired because of their work and family, and there is a requirement for relaxing and emotive (动情的) music. ” said Jason Smith, a research member.
You must be thinking: “Aren’t there old people who still love rock music?” Of course there are. But Jason Smith explained that their reasons for listening to rock music may have changed. “We use music for different reasons, ” he said, and at that age people may listen to remind themselves of their youths (青春) .

A.hot B.enjoyable C.boring

Then one day, I had to go through a two-hour medical treatment. The doctor wanted me to relax, so she played some music for me, and one of the songs was Happy, which has been my favorite song till now. This positive (积极的) and uplifting song gave me strength (力量) and helped me go through the darkness. From then on, I began to listen to music all the time. John A.Logan once said, “Music is the medicine of the mind.” And it’s true. Music worked wonders for me. It helped me recover (恢复) and come back to life.
Of course, I hope none of you have to experience the same kind of suffering (痛苦) that I did. However, we all go through some periods when we feel sad or lonely.
