M: In that case, let's just take a taxi. The station isn't that far.
Text 6

W: I'd love to, but my grandparents are coming to visit that day. We're having a family dinner.
M: That's too bad. What about Sunday?

W: It was amazing! I went to Thailand — Bangkok first, then the beaches in Phuket.

W: Wow, that's a big jump. But isn't solar power unreliable? I mean, it doesn't work at night or on cloudy days.
M: That's a valid concern. Battery storage technology is improving though, and costs are dropping every year.
W: I guess that makes sense. What would you say is the biggest advantage of solar energy?
M: Probably that it produces no greenhouse gases during operation. Unlike coal or gas plants, it doesn't burn anything.
W: That's a strong point. Thanks for the ideas, Jake. I think I'll structure my project around these points.
M: No problem. Let me know if you need more help.
Text 10
Good morning, and welcome to Westwood University. I'm Professor Linda Martinez, and I'll be giving you a brief orientation to the library services available to all new students.
First, let's talk about getting your library card. To apply, you'll need to bring your student ID card and one passport-sized photo. You can fill out the application form at the front desk on the first floor. Your library card will be ready for pickup within two business days. With this card, you can borrow up to 15 books at a time and access all our online databases from anywhere on campus.
Now, I'm excited to announce that we've just completed a major renovation of the third floor. We've added 12 new individual study rooms, each equipped with a desk, chair, and power outlets. These rooms can be reserved online through the library website, up to one week in advance. They will be available for use starting next Monday.
We also have group study rooms on the second floor that can accommodate 4 to 8 people. Those are available on a first-come, first-served basis, but you can also reserve them for specific time slots.
Finally, don't forget about our research help desk. Our librarians are available Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, to help you find sources, navigate databases, or cite your papers properly.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask after this session. Enjoy your time at Westwood!

The dinner reservation is at 7:00…Could we push it to 7:30?" → "That's fine. I'll meet you…at 7:30."
Do you have it in stock?" → "it's on the third shelf in the literature section."
· 原文定位:"help me prepare the quarterly report" → "I'll finish the data analysis…send it to you."
I had high expectations, but the plot was weak and the ending made no sense. I almost fell asleep."
· 解题思路:"had high expectations, but…"
The next bus won't come for another 40 minutes, and it's starting to rain." → "In that case, let's just take a taxi."
· 原文定位:以 "do you have any plans for the weekend?"
· 原文定位:"my grandparents are coming to visit that day. We're having a family dinner."
I'm calling to confirm my job interview scheduled for this week."
· 原文定位:女士误说 "marketing position",男士纠正 "Actually…My major is Computer Science."
· 原文定位:"interview on Tuesday at 2:00 PM."
I went to Thailand — Bangkok first, then the beaches in Phuket."
What was the best part?" → "Definitely the food."
I got a bad case of food poisoning. I had to stay in the hotel for a whole day."
· 原文定位:以 "how's your environmental science project going?"
· 原文定位:"solar currently only provides about 5 percent…it could reach 25 percent by 2030."
What would you say is the biggest advantage of solar energy?" → "Probably that it produces no greenhouse gases during operation."
· 干扰项分析:A 项 "cheaper than fossil fuels" 过于绝对,原文只说成本在下降;C 项 "works in all weather" 与原文 "doesn't work at night or on cloudy days" 直接矛盾,属于反向干扰。
· 原文定位:"welcome to Westwood University…orientation to the library services available to all new students."
To apply, you'll need to bring your student ID card and one passport-sized photo."
To apply, you'll need to…"
With this card, you can borrow up to 15 books at a time."
They will be available for use starting next Monday."
