I was on the edge of burnout, after months of hard preparation for the college entrance exams. Stress and tiredness piled up day after day. Every day was filled with textbooks and endless practice papers, and I had gradually moved away from music, the very thing that once brought me the greatest joy.
One weekend, when I walked aimlessly in the city street to release pressure, I happened to come across a street music festival. Among the performers was a young girl around my age, who had a voice that seemed to cut through my tiredness and I couldn’t help tapping my feet, with a long-lost sense of excitement welling up inside. All my tired thoughts were swept away by her beautiful singing.
That performance served as a turning point. It made me realize how much I had been sacrificing my inner self for school achievements. With determination, I got back my old piano sheet music and changed my study schedule. Despite the heavy workload, I set aside a fixed period to enjoy music. Whether I was practicing challenging classical pieces or creating simple melodies, those musical moments became a necessary part of my daily life. Music slowly filled my dull busy life again.
Surprisingly, these music breaks became a source of energy and inspiration. The pleasant flow of notes calmed my nerves, improved my concentration and refreshed my mind. I began to study with new-found eagerness. Music, in fact, taught me that even in the most stressful times, I could maintain my love for music while still staying devoted to my study-related goals, achieving a balance between aim and interest. From then on, I faced exam pressure with a more positive attitude.
24. Why did the author stop enjoying music before?
A. Busy exam preparation. B. Less interest in music.
C. Family pressure for grades. D. Negative effects of addiction.
25. What did the girl’s performance inspire the author to do?
A. To dance with the girl. B. To recover long-lost excitement.
C. To ignore upcoming exams. D. To feel sorry for relaxing.
26. What was the influence of music breaks?
A. Better focus on studying. B. Lower grades in exams.
C. Strong desire to be a musician. D. Fewer hours for practice papers.
27. What’s the author’s change after the music festival?
A. Improving old piano sheet. B. Reducing study time for music.
C. Creating classical pieces. D. Balancing study and music.

Teachers need to fully understand how AI actually works so that they can make wise decisions on when and how to use it. I recently met with a kindergarten teacher who was very worried. She asked me, “Do I really have to use AI with my kids? I don’t even know what it is.” She was under such pressure, and that’s not healthy. It’s an incredibly difficult and unfair situation for teachers to be placed in. That’s why AI literacy (人工智能素养), along with supporting teachers with the integration of AI literacy in their classrooms, is a main priority for me. It’s very important to slow down and make sure teachers feel comfortable and confident before integrating AI into schools.
It’s important to think about using AI in ways suitable for different ages and address privacy concerns. While there are still gaps, I remain optimistic. AI can make life easier and help us be more productive and creative if used as a helpful partner.
How do these innovations shape the future of education? Are you fearful or hopeful? I’m hopeful that this could be a turning point where teaching and learning are greatly changed, as education has changed little since it began.
AI is here to stay, so we have to decide to make it positive in the ways we want. If we don’t do anything, it could have negative effects. This feels like a big change, but people were also worried when computers and smartphones were first introduced to schools. We have adapted to those and will adapt to life with AI too.
One of the fundamental goals of education is to prepare our students to contribute meaningfully to society. With things changing as rapidly as they are, we need to equip students with the abilities they will need to navigate and grow in a constantly developing world. We should emphasize learning how to learn and how to adapt.
28. What concerned the kindergarten teacher?
A. Supporting kids to learn AI. B. Creating new technology for kids.
C. Integrating AI into her classroom. D. Teaching AI technology in her school.
29. What is the author’s attitude to the potential of AI in education?
A. Worried. B. Indifferent. C. Doubtful. D. Positive.
30. What does the author suggest teachers do about AI in education?
A. Focus on teaching students AI skills.
B. Help students to accept AI technology.
C. Replace old teaching methods with AI.
D. Remove AI literacy from other courses.
31. What can be the best title for the text?
A. AI Literacy: a Hope for Students
B. AI in Education: Challenges and Hopes
C. AI Innovation: Lowering Educational Quality
D. AI-driven Future: Taking Control of Students
D
Walk through any city after dark, and you will find street lamps, office windows, and LED signs fill the night sky with a warm orange or white light. Scientists call this light pollution. For decades, researchers have known that light pollution harms nocturnal animals affects sleep, and wastes energy. Now, a team at Vanderbilt University has discovered another hidden cost: it makes pollen (花粉) seasons longer, causing more serious pollen allergies (过敏).
The researchers used a special tool — satellite images. These satellites orbit Earth at night and take detailed pictures of artificial (人工的) light across the planet. The team compared these light maps with data on pollen levels in the eastern United States.
The results were striking. In dark, the countryside with little artificial lighting, pollen counts were significant for around 170 to 210 days per year. But in brightly lit cities like New York, significant pollen was found for up to 300 days — nearly two months longer!
Not only was the season longer, but it was also worse. In brightly lit areas, 27 percent of pollen-season days reached serious levels. In dark areas, only 17 percent of days were that bad.
The answer lies in biology. Plants use photoperiodism — they measure the length of night and day to know when to flower. When artificial lights shine at night, they confuse plants into “thinking” the day is longer than it really is. As a result, trees and grasses start flowering earlier and keep giving off pollen for a longer time.
The researchers suggest several practical steps. Cities could reduce light brightness, use covers on lamps to aim light downward instead of upward, or set up sensors (感应器) that turn lights off when no one is nearby. Changing to lighting with less blue light may also help since blue wavelengths appear to have the strongest effect on plants.
For now, if you have pollen allergies and live in a bright city, you might have one more reason to wish for darker nights.
32. What makes pollen seasons longer in cities?
A. Artificial light. B. More plants.
C. Wasted energy. D. Warmer environment.
33. Why did the researchers use satellite images?
A. To track the movement of pollen in the wind.
B. To measure the temperature of different cities.
C. To count the number of trees in the countryside.
D. To compare light maps with pollen level data.
34. What does the underlined word “photoperiodism” mean in paragraph 5?
A. A method to photograph pollen.
B. A lighting system used for plants.
C. A reaction to the length of day and night.
D. A plant disease caused by too much sunlight.
35. What is paragraph 6 mainly about?
A. Steps of setting up sensors. B. Reduction of light brightness.
C. Effects of blue light on plants. D. Solutions to longer pollen seasons.

A New Beginning
Ava had always been a shy girl, preferring to spend time with books rather than people. She loved spending her afternoons in the school library, where she could escape into different worlds through the pages of her favorite novels. At school, she rarely spoke to her classmates or teachers. She would sit at the back of the classroom, her head down, avoiding eye contact. Her teachers often called on her, but she would only give short, quiet answers before closing herself off again.
One day, her English teacher, Mrs. James, noticed Ava’s love for stories during a creative writing task. “Ava,” Mrs. James said after class, “I think you have a wonderful imagination. Have you ever thought about joining the drama club? We’re putting on a play next month, and I believe you’d be perfect for the lead role.”
Ava’s face turned red, and she shook her head quickly. “No, I can’t. I’m not good at speaking in front of people. I’d just embarrass myself. I’m afraid to fail.”
Mrs. James smiled gently. “I understand how you feel, but sometimes, we need to step out of our comfort zones and try new things to see how much we can grow. Just give it a try. You might surprise yourself.”
Ava hesitated but finally agreed to try out for the role. To her shock, she was chosen for the lead role. The weeks leading up to the play were filled with practice sessions. At first, Ava struggled to speak loudly enough for others to hear. Her fellow actors, however, were supportive. “You’ve got this, Ava!” one of them said during a practice. “Just imagine you’re telling a story to your friends.”
Slowly, Ava began to open up. She practiced her lines every night, and her confidence grew. On the night of the performance, she stood backstage, her hands trembling. She took a deep breath and reminded herself of Mrs. James’s words.
注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

As the curtains opened, Ava stepped onto the stage. Her heart beat wildly, but she recalled all the daily practice and encouraging words from partners. She lifted her head and delivered her lines in a clear, steady voice. Lost in the story, she forgot her nervousness completely. When the play ended, warm applause burst out across the hall, lasting for a long time.
Backstage, Ava couldn't stop smiling as she saw Mrs. James approaching her. The teacher gave her a big hug and praised her amazing performance. Ava realized stepping out of comfort zones brought unexpected courage and joy. She decided to stay in the drama club, ready to embrace more new challenges in the future.
