四、阅读理解
(25-26八年级上·上海宝山·期中)根据文章内容,选择最恰当的答案。
Losing your phone is unlucky, unless you’re clumsy (笨拙的) and manage to break your phone. Well, I did that when I got into a taxi and slammed (砰地关上) the door. I heard a loud crack. The crack was the sound of my phone’s screen breaking. The phone had been in the pocket of my jacket and my jacket had gotten caught in the taxi’s door.
Besides the sound of breaking glass, the other sound I heard was my own voice saying, “Oh, no! What have I done?” But I couldn’t really get angry. The death of my phone was less of a tragedy (悲剧) than a comedy since it was my clumsiness that had killed it.
So, for the next day, I had to live without a phone until I was able to buy a new one: no calls, no texts, no social media. And what I discovered was that I really didn’t miss making phone calls, or getting text messages, or reading social media posts. It was actually relaxing. For that whole day, I was able to stop living in a “virtual” world and start living in the “real” world.
Smartphones have changed the way we live our lives. They are sources of communication, information and entertainment. All of these things are good, but too much of these things (too much of anything, really) can also be bad. There is a chemical in our brain called dopamine (多巴胺). Activities like scrolling through videos or posts cause our brains to release this chemical. It gives us pleasure. Actually, some of us have even become addicted (沉迷) to dopamine, the “happy hormone (荷尔蒙)”. This is why we may feel upset or anxious when we can’t use them. In order to treat this increasingly common addiction, some places are experimenting with the idea of a “digital detox*”. For example, people in the Indian village of Vadgaon are being forced to turn off their phones and TVs from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. every night.
Smartphones are great, but you should be smart about using them. Put them away in your pocket for a while and enjoy the real world… but you should still be careful about getting into taxis.
*digital detox:数码排毒,指选择到没有无线网络的地方度假。

(25-26八年级上·上海·单元测试)In the 19th century, communication was a slow and laborious process. People relied on handwritten letters, which could take weeks or even months to reach their destination. The invention of the telegraph in the mid-1800s revolutionized communication, allowing messages to be sent over long distances in a matter of minutes. However, it was the advent of the telephone in the late 19th century that truly transformed how people interacted with one another.
Fast forward to the 21st century, and communication has become almost instantaneous. With the rise of the Internet and smartphones, people can now send messages, make video calls, and share information with anyone around the globe in seconds. Social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Weibo have further changed the way we communicate, allowing users to share their thoughts, photos, and videos with a wide audience.
Despite these advancements, some argue that modern communication lacks the personal touch of handwritten letters. In the past, letters were often carefully crafted, with attention paid to every word. Today, messages are often short and informal, with emojis and abbreviations replacing full sentences. However, others believe that the speed and convenience of modern communication outweigh these drawbacks.
The evolution of communication has also had a significant impact on businesses. In the past, companies relied on mail and telephones to communicate with clients and partners. Today, email, video conferencing, and instant messaging have made it easier than ever to conduct business on a global scale. This has led to increased efficiency and productivity, but it has also created new challenges, such as the need to manage large volumes of digital information.
As technology continues to advance, it is likely that communication will continue to evolve. Some experts predict that virtual reality and artificial intelligence will play a major role in the future of communication, allowing people to interact in more immersive and personalized ways. Whatever the future holds, one thing is certain: the way we communicate will continue to change, just as it has for centuries.

A.It made communication slower and more laborious.
B.It allowed messages to be sent over long distances in minutes.
C.It replaced handwritten letters entirely.
D.It had no significant impact on communication.
2.Which of the following is NOT mentioned as a modern communication tool?
A.Social media platforms. B.Video conferencing.
C.Handwritten letters. D.Instant messaging.
3.What is the closest antonym for the underlined word “laborious” in the first paragraph?
A.Easy. B.Difficult. C.Slow. D.Complicated.
4.Which of the following would be most important to include in a summary of the passage?

B.Modern communication is faster but less personal than in the past.
