She sat on the roof ________ ________ to see the wonderful view.
【答案】 in order
原句中的“so that”表示“以便、为了”,引导目的状语从句,与“in order to”意思相同,因此可以用“in order to”来替换“so that she could”,其他部分保持不变,以保持句意不变。

it ,make sure,disappoint ,except ,protect
A Lesson in Kindness
One sunny afternoon, Emma decided to visit the park. She loved spending time there, 1 when it was too crowded. As she walked, she noticed a small bird lying on the ground, unable to fly. Without thinking twice, she picked it up, feeling 2 little heart beating fast.
Emma knew she had to 3 the bird from danger. She carefully carried it home and put it in a warm box. Over the next few days, she fed it and 4 it was safe. Her friends were surprised by her kindness, because she had never cared for an animal like this before.
However, one morning, Emma found the bird had flown away. At first, she felt 5 and thought her efforts (努力) had been in vain (徒劳). But then she realized the bird was meant to be free, and she had given it a new life. True kindness means helping others without expecting anything in return.
1.except 2.its 3.protect 4.made sure 5.disappointed
根据前文“As she walked, she noticed a small bird lying on the ground, unable to fly.” 这里用it的形容词性物主代词its修饰little heart, its表示“它的”。故填its。
根据“…the bird from danger”可知,此处意为保护小鸟免受危险,protect…from danger是词组搭配表示“保护……
根据“…it was safe”可知,艾玛是想确认小鸟的安全;make sure意为“确保”;根据“she fed it and…” 故填made sure。

Actually, about 80 per cent of the plants in the world can’t grow 4 their work. For this reason, many scientists believe that bees are the 5 (important) animals on this planet.
There are many interesting things about bees. One thing is that they work hard together to make their homes. They create honeycombs 6 (store) honey. Another thing is that a bee can tell the others where 7 how far away the food is by dancing.
Bees play 8 important part in the ecosystem of our planet. Now scientists are worried because the number of bees is 9 (drop). We should do something useful to protect 10 (they). For example, we can plant more trees because trees can give bees food and they are home to bees.
1.connection 2.flowers 3.helps 4.without 5.most important 6.to store 7.and 8.an 9.dropping 10.them
范围“on this planet”提示语义需要表达“最重要的”;定冠词the后要求使用形容词最高级,important多音节词最高级加most,故填most important。

“where”和“how far away the food is”提示语义是并列的两条信息;并列连词and用于连接并列从句,故填and。

Long ago, when the Creator first planted a tree in the garden, it was full of energy and kept moving. Then the Creator pulled the tree out and planted it upside down (颠倒) to make sure it stayed in one place. What’s the tree? It’s the Baobab tree, also called monkey bread tree, bottle tree or others.
The Baobab tree is a strange looking tree that grows in Africa and Australia. Just like its name “Bottle tree”, it looks like a large bottle. Some grow as tall as a 16-floor building. In the dry season, these trees are standing there without leaves, and look like trunks (树干) sticking up in the air. But when the rainy season comes, leaves appear and then flowers come out. Later, the flowers can turn into fruit.
Baobab is called “the tree of life”, because it can live longer than 1000 years old. In the dry land, the baobab can pull in and hold 1,000 gallons of water. Thirsty people can drink the water stored in the tree. The fruit, monkey bread, is good to eat. Baobab leaves are a kind of medicine. People can use the bark (树皮) to make paper or cloth. When a baobab gets old, its trunk becomes hollow. An old tree can hold many people. The local people often build their houses inside these trunks. It is such a useful tree that some people could hardly live without it.
6.How does the writer begin the text?
A.By singing a song. B.By telling a story.
C.By asking a question. D.By giving an example.
7.Which of the following pictures is the baobab in the dry season?
A. B.
C. D.
8.Which word is close to the meaning of the underlined word “hollow” in paragraph 3?
A.Dirty. B.Modern.
C.Empty. D.Useful.
9.Which of the following is NOT true?
A.Baobab has many names.
B.Flowers come out in rainy seasons.
C.The leaves of the baobab are good medicine.
D.The oldest baobab is less than 1,000 years old.
10.What’s the best title for the passage?
A.The Creator and Baobab
B.What is Baobab like in a year
C.A special tree-Baobab
D.Baobab’s trunk, leaves and fruit
【答案】6.B 7.A 8.C 9.D 10.C
根据文章开头“Long ago, when the Creator first planted a tree in the garden”,作者讲述了上帝种树的故事,所以作者是通过展示一个故事来开始这篇文章的。
7.根据“In the dry season, these trees are standing there without leaves, and look like trunks sticking up in the air.”,旱季猴面包树的样子是没有叶子,像树干直立在空中。
8.根据“When a baobab gets old, its trunk becomes hollow. An old tree can hold many people.”,老树能容纳很多人,可猜测树干里面是空的,和C选项empty“空的”,意思相近。
9.根据“Baobab is called ‘the tree of life’, because they can live longer than 1,000 years old.”,猴面包树能活1000多年,不是不到1000年。
