Yuan Longping — Father of Hybrid Rice Yuan Longping is one of the most inspiring scientists in modern China. He is known as the "Father of Hybrid Rice" and devoted his whole life to fighting hunger. He lived during a time when many Chinese people suffered from food shortages. To him, this had to change, so he spent decades researching better rice in the fields. He believed that science could feed the people, and he worked tirelessly to prove it. He once said, "My lifelong dream is to keep all people away from hunger." Though he passed away in 2021, his spirit lives on. His work has fed millions of people not only in China but also around the world. Now more than ever, we need his spirit of dedication and hard work. When I feel like giving up on my studies, I think of Yuan Longping — he never stopped, and that encourages me to keep trying. My Mother — My Greatest Inspiration My mother is one of the most inspiring people in my life. She is not a famous scientist or a great leader, but a common person who works hard every day to support our family. She grew up in a poor village during a time when many girls had no chance to go to school. But she never gave up her dream of education. She studied by herself at night after working in the fields all day. Through her efforts, she finally became a teacher and changed her life.
