第一课时　Section A（1a～1d）& Pronunciation 一、教学内容 1．Introduce mosses，blue whales，redwood trees and cheetahs. 2．Use superlatives to describe mosses，blue whales，redwood trees and cheetahs. 3．Talk about the pronunciation of the vowel letters “a，i”，semi－vowel letter “y” and their combinations “ai，ay，igh，oy，oi”，the pronunciation of consonant combinations “bl，cl，gl，br，cr，gr”；feel the influence of stressed words on the meaning of sentences. 二、课时教学目标 Language Abilities ●Grasp the following important points as well as be able to read and write correctly. ●Key words and phrases：beautiful，fast，heavy，large，small，tall，several times ●Key sentences：①—What is the largest animal in the world？—It's the blue whale.It is also the heaviest animal on earth.②—Which animal runs the fastest? —The cheetah runs the fastest.③—What is the oldest plant in the world？—The moss is one of the oldest plants.④Which kind of tree is the tallest in the world? —The redwood tree.　⑤It is also the most beautiful animal in the world. T：Look at the picture.What is it? S1：It is a cheetah. T：What do you think of it? Step 2　Listening & Speaking(1b～1d) Work on 1b 1．Ask students to listen to the conversations and number the plants and animals in 1a in the order they hear them. T：Yaming is starting a test on animals and plants.What are the questions about? Let's listen and number the plants and animals. 2．Ask students to share their answers and help to correct pronunciation if necessary. Work on 1c 1．Ask students to listen again，match the words with the plants and animals in 1a. T：Which animal or plant are these adjectives about? Look and match the words with the four pictures. 2．The teacher asks students to share their answers and helps to correct their mistakes if necessary. 3．The teacher asks students to work in groups to translate the meaning of the words and tell what －(i)est means in these words.
