根据第二段中“One rainy afternoon, Liam’s teacher called, “I’ve noticed Liam having trouble with his math homework,” the teacher said carefully, “He’s putting in the effort, but some things just aren’t making sense to him. He really needs some support.”(一个下雨的下午,利亚姆的老师打来电话,“我注意到利亚姆在数学作业上遇到了困难,”老师小心翼翼地说,“他正在努力,但有些东西他就是弄不明白。他真的需要一些帮助。”)”可知,利亚姆在数学作业上遇到了困难,学习很吃力。故选C。
25.词句猜测题。根据第三段中“Mr. Thompson had forgotten most of his algebra (代数), and Liam was confused about basic equations (方程式). They argued, erased until the paper tore, and sometimes gave up.(汤普森先生已经忘了大部分代数知识,而利亚姆对基本方程式也感到困惑。他们争论不休,把纸都撕破了,有时甚至放弃。)”可知,汤普森先生记不得大部分代数知识了,而利亚姆不了解基础的方程式,他们在一起学习时有很多摩擦、很不顺利,由此可推测出,一开始他们一起学习让人非常恼火、沮丧。vexing意为“令人恼火的”,和frustrating(令人沮丧的,让人恼火的)含义一致。故选A。
根据第四段“One weekend, while building a birdhouse, Mr. Thompson faced a problem: the roof angles didn’t fit. “Wait,” Liam said, taking out his math notebook. “If we use the Pythagorean theorem (勾股定理), we can figure out the correct length!” Mr. Thompson watched in amazement as Liam measured and cut the wood perfectly. Since then, Liam had realized math was truly useful — not just in textbooks, but in real life. He began falling in love with math.(某个周末,在搭建鸟舍时,汤普森先生遇到了一个问题:屋顶的角度不匹配。
通读全文,尤其是文章倒数第二段中的“Months later, Mr. Thompson knew that Liam had achieved good grades in math. But more importantly, their relationship became better.(几个月后,汤普森先生得知利亚姆的数学成绩不错。但更重要的是,他们之间的关系变得更好了。)”可知,本文主要讲述了汤普森先生因为太忙而疏忽了自己的儿子,后来他们两个一起学数学,这不仅让儿子爱上了数学、提高了成绩,还拉近了父子关系、改善了父子感情。B项“父子之旅:通过数学增进关系”完整概括了核心内容。故选B。

29.细节理解题。根据第四段中的“Recent studies show it also reduces false memories: When presented with misleading information, people are better at avoiding errors if the material is in their foreign language, as they engage in more careful, deliberative thinking when processing information in a non - native tongue.(最近的研究表明,它还能减少错误记忆:当面对误导性信息时,如果材料是用外语呈现的,人们更善于避免错误,因为他们在用非母语处理信息时会进行更仔细、慎重的思考)”可知,人们用外语回忆时不太可能形成错误记忆,是因为他们进入了一个更慎重思考的过程,故选B项。
根据最后一段中的“Deliberately switching to a second language can help us become more detached and objective. Whether evaluating investments, processing personal upsets, or considering controversial policies, using a foreign language can provide valuable emotional distance and reduce automatic reactions.(刻意切换到第二语言,能帮助我们变得更冷静、更客观。 无论是评估投资、处理个人烦心事,还是思考有争议的政策,使用外语都能带来宝贵的情感距离感,减少本能的情绪化反应)”可知,在现实生活中应用“外语效应”的一个实际好处是增加客观性和情感距离,故选D项。
31.主旨大意题。根据第一段中的 “Psychologists have become increasingly interested in how switching between languages influences thinking—a phenomenon known as the “foreign language effect”. Unlike linguistic determinism, which suggests a language’s structure shapes thought, this effect stems from the general experience of using a second language, often making people more rational and open-minded.(心理学家们越来越感兴趣:在不同语言间切换会如何影响思维—— 这种现象被称为 “外语效应”。 语言决定论认为语言的结构塑造思维,而外语效应并非如此;它源于人们使用第二语言的整体体验,通常会让人更理性、思想更开放 )”、第四段中的 “Beyond decision-making, the foreign language effect impacts memory.(除了决策之外,外语效应还会影响记忆)” 以及最后一段中的 “Deliberately switching to a second language can help us become more detached and objective. Whether evaluating investments, processing personal upsets, or considering controversial policies, using a foreign language can provide valuable emotional distance and reduce automatic reactions.(刻意切换到第二语言,能帮助我们变得更冷静、更客观。 无论是评估投资、处理个人烦心事,还是思考有争议的政策,使用外语都能带来宝贵的情感距离感,减少本能的情绪化反应)” 可知,全文围绕使用第二语言产生的 “外语效应”,介绍其对思维、决策、记忆等方面的积极影响,即使用第二语言的好处。故选A项。

根据第四段中的“This shift towards diverse digital sources is reshaping learning materials, potentially leading to the demise of traditional textbooks as students are no longer limited to a single source of information.(这种向多样化数字资源的转变正在重塑学习材料,随着学生不再局限于单一的信息来源,传统教科书可能会走向demise。)” 故选A项。
根据最后一段中的“Ultimately, by encouraging students to actively investigate the world and tackle its problems, PhBL makes learning deeply meaningful. It aims to create lifelong learners who can adeptly use integrated knowledge and technology to address global issues. It is this vision of engaged, applicable education that makes PhBL so effective and has captured the attention of educators worldwide.(最终,通过鼓励学生积极探究世界并解决其问题,PhBL使学习变得非常有意义。它的目标是创造能够熟练运用综合知识和技术解决全球问题的终身学习者。正是这种参与式、适用性教育的愿景使PhBL如此有效,并吸引了全球教育工作者的关注。)”可知,作者对PhBL持支持的态度。故选B项。

54.考查副词词义辨析。句意:她甚至在生下女儿后不得不放弃工作,因为怀孕严重影响了她的健康。A. mostly主要地,大部分地;B. even甚至,即使;C. never从不,绝不;D. rather相当,宁愿。根据上文她从小身体不好和下文“had to give up her job after giving birth to her daughter because her health was severely affected by the pregnancy (怀孕)”可知,她之前就身体不好,后来又因为怀孕严重影响了她的健康,她甚至在生下女儿后不得不放弃工作,这里表示递进,用even强调严重性。故选B。
A. as因为,当…… 为止;C. but但是,然而;D. before在……之前。上文“We cannot stop aging”提到无法阻止衰老,下文“exercise can slow it down”说锻炼可以减缓衰老,前后为转折关系,应用连词but。

故填who/that。
set apart from… 故填from。
故填a。
故填and。
故填were chosen。

One possible version:
Then came one particular practice. Somehow I was mad and angry, which made my punches suddenly stronger and faster. What amazed me was that gradually I just didn’t have that anger in me. After the practice, all my classmates burst into cheers for my great performance and Mr. Vernon also said that I was making great progress. With his praise I finally found the strength I needed. In the following practices, he was impressed with my good boxing skills, because they were getting powerful.
The experience taught me a great lesson. Boxing requires a lot of work and effort, but it has also taught me not to feel discouraged about what others say. Thanks to boxing, I have gradually realized that being short doesn’t define me. If we focus on our strong points and improve our weak ones, there is no reason for us to feel disappointed. Day by day I am becoming increasingly confident, definitely sure nothing will limit me to doing what tall or strong people can do.

M: This Saturday. But my rent isn’t due yet. Do you know anyone who is interested?
W: I am. I’ve just changed my job, and your apartment is close to my new office.
M: Really? That’d be great. You will like it as the balcony is spacious enough to accommodate seating, so you can enjoy the scenery comfortably. And there are many trees in the community, providing environmental benefits to the area. That’s actually why I chose it in the first place.
W: Sounds nice. How about the rent? I’m trying to stay with a $300 budget.
M: It was $320 a month. But recently the landlady has raised it by $30. Is it OK?

W: Yes. I can’t decide what career to follow. I thought about nursing, maybe even becoming a doctor if my grades are good enough. But the thing that appeals to me most is teaching.
M: Really? You surprise me. I did admire that teachers can broaden their knowledge and they adopt a mindset of continuous learning, But they have to meet lots of targets and deal with difficult students, which I wouldn’t like.
W: It depends on your character. What job would you like to do after graduation, Howard?
M: I thought of becoming a photographer. They seem to travel a lot.
W: That’s a good idea, but it might be hard to succeed in it. Everyone takes pictures with their phones these days.

M: It’s my pleasure, Anna. I know you must be excited to go home after such a long business trip. You’ll keep in touch with me, won’t you?
W: Of course. And I will miss you, and miss the tasty food, the friendly workmates, who helped me pick up a lot of Chinese. It would have been perfect except for the days of continuous rain in Shanghai. By the way, please let me know if your daughter needs any help while she’s studying in London.
M: We’ll do. Thanks a lot. Oh, I’d like to give you something to take home. Let me show you.
W: This is beautiful. Chinese paper cutting! What do these characters mean?

W: Martin, how do you like playing a superhero?
M: Overall, it makes me proud, but it really bothers me to stay fit, and keeping the superhero face on is quite tiring too. Yet, those challenges don’t even come close to the difficulty of chasing and fighting. You have to make great efforts to achieve the desired effects.
W: I heard you grew up in Canada. How was that?
M: I have many family members there. I went to an international school, but the best thing was the fantastic countryside near my home. I spent most weekends camping in the forest, which was really great.
W: So how did you get into acting?
M: Well, at university, I studied literature but never acted in any drama. After graduating, I worked as an assistant for a producer, working on a musical comedy. One night an actor was ill, and I was asked to play his part, and it just went from there.
W: Here is the last question. What would you have done if you hadn’t become an actor?
M: Well, both my parents devote themselves to educational careers. Even so, it hardly interested me. My older brother owns a company, and he said that I could have a job in his office. I guess that’s what I’d probably have done.

World Sleep Day was organized since 2008. It is held on March 21 every year. It aims to highlight the importance of good sleep and raise awareness of how sleep determines our everyday lives. Now, a world first study from the University of South Australia shows that increased physical activities during the day improve sleep quality and reduce tiredness, emphasizing the importance of exercise for a good night’s rest, ‘The study found that children and adults with higher levels of moderate to vigorous physical activity have less troubled sleep and better sleep quality. In general, adults are thought to need at least eight hours of sleep a night, but a recent survey found that on work days, only 21% of them really get a full eight hours of sleep. For teenagers, a healthy amount is about eight to nine hours per night. However, 27% of people throughout the world have sleep problems. Now there are over 80 kinds of sleep disorders, and most people know little about their danger. So for our good life and work, it’s necessary for us to realize the importance of sleep and try to have a good sleep.

Four of the Most Beautiful Roads in the United StatesAlaska Highway, Alaska
In the early days of World War II, fears of a potential attack on the Territory of Alaska stimulated military officials to create the Alaska Highway.
Eagle-eyed motorists may spot caribou, moose and grizzly bears along the road. Those keen on eyeing bald eagles should plan a stop near the Canadian border at the Tetlin National Wildlife Refuge. Its wetlands serve as a pit stop for 180 species of migratory birds, including America’s national bird, on their springtime journey towards the ice fields and glaciers at the road’s northernmost reaches.Highway 101, California
“The 101” is a drivable California postcard, taking motorists past the Hollywood sign in Los Angeles, over the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. The route offers a chance to not only see some of the best that California has to offer, but also smell and taste it when the road cuts through the heart of Sonoma’s wine country. Over 400 different wineries there produce varieties of wine.Hana Highway, Hawaii
The Hana Highway dates to the 16th century, when Native Hawaiians first paved the road with lava blocks. Today, the route is one of Maui’s greatest tourist draws, with its 617 switchbacks hiding some of the island’s best attractions. The natural pools formed by waterfalls at Waikamoi Stream are a swimmer’s dream. Locals may be driving much faster. So if you see a local person driving behind you, you should pull over as soon as you can.Going-to-the-Sun Road, Montana
Millions of years ago, the area around Montana’s Glacier National Park was submerged under ice a mile deep. The most striking reminders of the region’s prehistoric origins are the 25 glaciers that give the park its name. The glaciers have been shrinking for decades, and more than 50 have disappeared entirely since the mid-1800s. Visitors may be flocking to Glacier to see these natural wonders before they vanish.

Mr. Thompson was a busy businessman who rarely had time for his 14-year-old son, Liam. Every evening, he buried himself in paperwork while Liam stayed alone in his room. Their conversations were short and simple — “How was school?” “Fine.”
One rainy afternoon, Liam’s teacher called, “I’ve noticed Liam having trouble with his math homework,” the teacher said carefully, “He’s putting in the effort, but some things just aren’t making sense to him. He really needs some support.” Mr. Thompson’s chest tightened as he hung up. He realized now how Liam had been spending hours at his desk each night, his notebooks full of erased attempts.
That evening, Mr. Thompson knocked on Liam’s half-open door, holding a plate of cookies. “Need some help?” Mr. Thompson asked. Liam hesitated, and then nodded. At first, their time studying together was vexing. Mr. Thompson had forgotten most of his algebra (代数), and Liam was confused about basic equations (方程式). They argued, erased until the paper tore, and sometimes gave up. But slowly, they improved — Mr. Thompson found online lessons, and Liam shared tricks from classmates.
One weekend, while building a birdhouse, Mr. He began falling in love with math.
Months later, Mr. Thompson knew that Liam had achieved good grades in math. But more importantly, their relationship became better. Mr. Thompson left work early for Liam’s soccer games, and Liam helped cook dinner.
One evening, after solving a particularly tough problem, Liam suddenly said, “Dad, remember when you helped me ride a bike? You didn’t let go until I was ready.” Mr. Thompson smiled and said, “And you still fell three times before you got it right.” They both laughed, realizing that learning math wasn’t so different — it took patience, falls, and getting back up.
24.What can we learn about Liam from the teacher’s phone call?
A.He lost interest in math. B.He failed a school math test.
C.He struggled with math homework. D.He put little effort into learning math.
25.What does the underlined word “vexing” in paragraph 3 mean?
A.Frustrating. B.Rewarding. C.Exciting. D.Boring.
26.How did Liam fall in love with learning math?
A.By taking online lessons.
B.By sharing tricks from classmates.
C.By improving his math test performance.
D.By applying math to solving practical problems.
27.What is the best title for the text?
A.A Father’s Unconditional Love: The Price of Parenthood
B.A Father-Son Journey: Improving Relationship Through Math
C.How to Improve Math Skills: Practical Study Methods
D.The Joy of Math Class: Discovering Academic Passion

Psychologists have become increasingly interested in how switching between languages influences thinking — a phenomenon known as the “foreign language effect”. Unlike linguistic determinism, which suggests a language’s structure shapes thought, this effect stems from the general experience of using a second language, often making people more rational and open-minded.
Research pioneered by Professor Boaz Keysar shows this strongly influences moral reasoning. When considering the “trolley problem” — whether to sacrifice one life to save five — people are twice as likely to make the utilitarian (实用主义的) choice when using their second language. The emotional distance provided by a foreign language appears to reduce instincts (本能) reactions.
The effect also reduces classic cognitive biases. People’s distaste for financial loss is much less strong when bets are presented in a foreign language. Speaking a second language can also lessen how easily we are influenced by how information is framed and our reluctance to quit failing projects. Similarly, the “bias blind spot”, where people believe they are less biased than others, diminishes when thinking in another tongue. Over a decade of research, the effect has proven consistent and repeatable.
Beyond decision-making, the foreign language effect impacts memory. Recalling traumatic events in a second language causes less emotional distress. Recent studies show it also reduces false memories: When presented with misleading information, people are better at avoiding errors if the material is in their foreign language, as they engage in more careful, deliberative thinking when processing information in a non-native tongue.
In our globalized world, this research suggests a practical cognitive tool. Deliberately switching to a second language can help us become more detached and objective. Whether evaluating investments, processing personal upsets, or considering controversial policies, using a foreign language can provide valuable emotional distance and reduce automatic reactions. For language learners, this is an unexpected payoff; for others, it’s a compelling reason to start learning.
28.What does paragraph 3 indicate about the effect?
A.It is a surprising new discovery. B.It requires a long time to prove.
C.It turns out to be reliable over time. D.Its mechanisms are fully understood.
29.Why are people less likely to form false memories when recalling in a foreign language?
A.They give top priority to correctness. B.They get in a more thoughtful process.
C.They engage in more automatic thinking. D.They avoid thinking about difficult topics.
30.What is a practical benefit of applying the effect in real life?
A.Reducing automatic reactions entirely. B.Ensuring perfectly reasonable decisions.
C.Accelerating the decision-making process. D.Increasing objectivity and emotional distance.
31.What is the main idea of the text?
A.Benefits of using a second language. B.Discussion on linguistic determinism.
C.Necessity of learning a second language. D.Challenges of learning foreign languages.

Finland has integrated “Phenomenon-Based Learning” (PhBL) into its national curriculum (课程) ,a shift credited with enhancing its global educational standing. This innovative approach prepares students for future by moving beyond traditional subject boundaries, promoting a more comprehensive understanding of the world.
In a PhBL classroom, learning is centered on exploring complex, real-world phenomena such as “climate change” or “the European Union”. Students do not learn subjects like history or science in isolation. Instead, they work collaboratively in teams, conducting authentic research, analyzing information from various angles, and communicating with field experts. Here, the teacher acts primarily as a facilitator and guide, rather than a sole lecturer. This interactive process is designed to naturally cultivate essential 21st-century skills: critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration.
Rooted in constructivism, PhBL posits that students build knowledge actively. They start with a real-world challenge, then gather, interpret, and combine data before proposing viable solutions. This makes the learning experience hands-on and meaningful. The final outcome is often a comprehensive project or a detailed portfolio that demonstrates their problem-solving abilities and practical application of knowledge.
Technology plays a crucial role in this model. Finnish schools view educational technology as a powerful tool for inquiry, not an end in itself. Students utilize (利用) digital resources, including videos, online databases. This shift towards diverse digital sources is reshaping learning materials, potentially leading to the demise of traditional textbooks as students are no longer limited to a single source of information.
Ultimately, by encouraging students to actively investigate the world and tackle its problems, PhBL makes learning deeply meaningful. It aims to create lifelong learners who can adeptly use integrated knowledge and technology to address global issues. It is this vision of engaged, applicable education that makes PhBL so effective and has captured the attention of educators worldwide.
32.What is a key feature of PhBL in Finland?
A.It focuses on the deep learning of a single subject.
B.It requires students to learn without teachers’ guidance.
C.It mainly uses technology to deliver traditional lectures.
D.It breaks the subject boundaries to explore real-world topics.
33.How does the author develop the idea of PhBL in Paragraph 2?
A.By giving examples. B.By telling a story.
C.By presenting data. D.By quoting opinions.

Some people prefer to have a bite to eat before hitting the gym, known as a fed workout. Others would like to wait until after exercising to refuel their bodies, called a fasted workout. To eat or not to eat, that is the question on many fitness enthusiasts' minds. 36
If you want energy and strength for an ideal workout, you need fuel. A fed workout will provide your body with power. 37 These benefits can result in burning more fat and shaping a slimmer body. Muscle preservation is also an essential component of strengthening your body. Nitrogen (氮) is critical for processing protein that builds healthy muscles. People tend to lose less nitrogen during a fed workout than a fasted one.
Many fitness enthusiasts are not on board with this idea. They report feeling sick and inactive while trying to exercise after eating. With a fasted workout, you may not get the usual indigestion. Experts for fasted workouts further claim that eating afterwards makes your body use its fat reserves for energy, meaning you will burn more fat. 38 It can cause a sudden drop in your blood glucose levels, and you may feel dizzy. You may even be more likely to overeat.
Knowing what to eat for an ideal workout is just as important as knowing when to eat. 39 For example, if you choose a fed workout, you'll probably lose a lot of water during an intense training, so you should consider drinking some beforehand. With a fasted workout, it would help if you had some nutrition right after your session is complete. Drink some water. Then, have a light meal or nutritional snack.
40 Both fasted workouts and fed activities have their benefits and shortcomings. Think thoroughly and discuss with your fitness instructor before taking a choice.
A.Not all foods are created equal.
B.However, a fasted workout might not work for you.
C.Deciding when to eat for an ideal workout is a personal choice.
D.How your body will respond is based on your workout intensity.
E.Many experts say there's no easy answer because it depends on the person.
F.A person doing a 30-minute session a day may have a problem with fasted workouts.
G.Eating before exercise may help you sustain longer sessions and lift heavier weights.

Yimakan, an oral art 56 (compose) of poems and stories, stands as a precious record of the Hezhen people’s history. For centuries, it has been narrated (讲述) by “Yimakan Qi Mafa” — master storytellers 57 possess extraordinary language skills and pass down tales of heroes defeating monsters and defending tribal honor. What makes it unique is that it uses various melodies to convey different characters, with no instrumental accompaniment, a feature that sets it apart 58 other narrative arts.
As the Hezhen people have no written script, their culture relies 59 (entire) on such oral transmission. However, modernization led to 60 sharp decline: By the 21st century, only five masters could perform the complete long stories. This crisis caused urgent action. What the government prioritized was collecting endangered cultural materials. Experts searched villages for 61 (represent) practitioners (传承人), recorded over 1,000 hours of performances, 62 collected texts to establish a digital archive (档案).
Efforts to bring Yimakan to life have since borne fruit. Seven study centers now operate in Heilongjiang, with the number of practitioners 63 (grow) to over 100. Online courses, whose length reaches 150 hours, teach its melodies, while festivals host performances to stimulate public interest. Notably, works like Xite Morigen 64 (choose) as teaching materials when the protection project started, ensuring authentic transmission. Today, Yimakan has gained international 65 (recognize), added to UNESCO’s list of heritage in need of urgent safeguarding. What we cherish most is that it embodies the Hezhen’s humanistic values and primitive wisdom. This art form, once fading, proves it is worthy of lasting protection.

In Grade 9 I joined boxing classes. My friend Lea and I were the only girls in the class.
We got to throw our first punches (拳击) and learned how we should stand. I still didn’t know how to do it well, but I felt that choosing the boxing class was a right decision. Mr. Vernon, our boxing teacher, made us work hard and sweat. The boxing pads (防护垫) were my favorite, but my punches weren’t strong enough.
After participating in more practices, we had learned how to punch in six different ways. The boys were improving a lot on their strength, and Lea with her speed. What about me? Well, I had a hard time seeing the difference. Mr. Vernon would always tell me that practice would make me stronger, and this was what helped motivate me to continue.
Each practice there was at least one boy who would make fun of me and say, “Oh, you’re too short to box. Mr. Vernon has to bend down when you are on the boxing pads; oh, you’re not strong enough; you punch like a mouse.”
I know those comments were not to hurt me, but just to have fun. It’s true. I’m a small and short person and I did lack confidence; but hearing those comments can either bring you down, or make you feel motivated to show them they are wrong. In my case, they started to discourage me. I didn’t have the strength to think they were wrong, and part of me thought that they were speaking the truth. I hid it inside my heart because I thought that showing I was doubting myself would make it worse.
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150左右;
