一、阅读理解
①Have you ever seen Picasso’s famous oil painting Guernica《格尔尼卡》? You may have noticed that human bodies in it are not painted naturally. They are broken into unusual shapes. Everything feels out of order, but that is exactly what gives the painting its power.
②For a long time, many traditional artists believed that good art should look true to life. The subject should come from history or real life so that the viewer could understand it. They often used perspective (透视法)—a way of painting where faraway objects look smaller than closer ones. They also painted from just one side, not many at once.
③Picasso was put through strict traditional training from an early age. He was a gifted child and was trained to paint in the “proper” way. When he entered the Barcelona School of Fine Arts, he was only 14 years old. In the entrance exams, he handed in a body of work that showed his excellent drawing and painting skills. Although others took a month, he completed the exams in just one day.
④But ▲ . Picasso didn’t want art to only copy real life, so he offered a new way of seeing the world: Cubism (立体主义). He broke people and things into shapes, and each shape showed the subject from a different side. For example, a face might be painted from both the front and the side. Different from tradition, Picasso’s works showed different views all at once.
⑤“So what?”, you might ask. Picasso did not break rules just for fun or without reason. He wanted to show that the world is not one-sided and cannot be fully recorded from just one side. In real life, things never stay the same. By breaking old painting rules, he tried to bring that experience into art.
⑥Picasso’s works may not look realistic, but they can even feel true in a deeper way. Painting is full of rules. But sometimes, the best artists break those rules to create something special.
1.What can we learn about the painting Guernica from Paragraph 1?
A.It was the first painting Picasso ever made.
B.It was painted in a natural and powerful way.
C.The human bodies in it looked a mess in shape.
D.The human bodies are painted with strong colours.
2.How did traditional artists show the distance in a painting?
A.By using brighter paint in the back.
B.By making closer objects look bigger.
C.By drawing everything in the same size.
D.By showing the subject from many sides.
3.What is Paragraph 3 mainly about?
A.Picasso’s speed and confidence in exams.
B.Picasso’s skills and new styles of painting.
C.Picasso’s talent and early traditional training.
D.Picasso’s schoolwork and basic painting skills.
4.Which saying can be put in ▲ in the article?
A.“no rules, no order” B.“seeing is believing”
C.“Rome was not built in a day” D.“rules are made to be broken”
5.How would the writer most probably reply to Tom’s review?
A.“Picasso was just trying to be different.”
B.“Art doesn’t have to look real to feel true.”
C.“You’re right. Art should always look real.”
D.“Only those who draw well understand Picasso.”
1.根据第一段“human bodies in it are not painted naturally. They are broken into unusual shapes. Everything feels out of order”,人体画得不自然,它们被分解成不寻常的形状,一切都感觉杂乱无章,说明“人体形状看起来很乱”。
2.根据第二段“They often used perspective (透视法)—a way of painting where faraway objects look smaller than closer ones.”,他们常用透视法——远处物体看起来比近处物体小的绘画方法,所以近处物体画得更大。由此可知传统艺术家是通过“让更近的物体看起来更大”的方式表现距离。
3.根据第三段“Picasso was put through strict traditional training from an early age...When he entered the Barcelona School of Fine Arts, he was only 14 years old...In the entrance exams, he...showed his excellent drawing and painting skills.”,讲述了毕加索从小接受严格的传统绘画训练,14岁进入美术学院,入学考试中展现出卓越的绘画技巧。核心是“早期传统训练”和“天赋”。
4.第三段讲毕加索接受了严格的传统训练并技艺精湛。第四段空处后文“Picasso didn’t want art to only copy real life, so he offered a new way of seeing the world: Cubism (立体主义).”,他打破了传统规则,创造了立体主义。所以过渡句应表达“规则是用来打破的”这一意思,与第三段形成转折。
5.Tom说“毕加索的画很丑,看起来都不真实,所以它们不是好的艺术”;文章最后一段作者写道“Picasso’s works may not look realistic, but they can even feel true in a deeper way.”,毕加索的作品可能看起来不真实,但它们在更深的层面上甚至能让人感觉真实。所以作者会回应“艺术不一定要看起来真实才能感觉真实”。

My favourite art form
Art is an important part of our life. I know various art forms, such as music, dancing, calligraphy and painting. Among all these, painting is my favourite.
I have a special story about it. When I was ten, I once felt very lonely because my best friend moved away. I decided to paint a picture of us playing together in the park. While painting, I felt as if she were still with me. It really cheered me up.
In my opinion, painting is a great way to express my feelings and relax. It not only makes my life more colorful but also helps me find true peace in my heart.

When we build a new house, we often buy something beautiful to decorate (装饰) it. The painting is always the 1 things we want to buy. People from all over the world 2 like western paintings. But as a Chinese, I think Chinese paintings are the best.
Chinese paintings are one of the oldest kinds of 3 in the world. Chinese artists first started painting 4 two thousand years ago, and painters in China are still using many of the same ways today.
Chinese painters often paint 5 scenes, animals or people. We can only see buildings in Chinese paintings when they make up a small part of a natural scene.
There are 6 kinds of traditional Chinese paintings. The first one is the gongbi style. People need a lot of time 7 this style of painting, because they paint everything in great details (细节). This style often 8 a lot of colour. Long ago, most painters in China used the gongbi style.
The second style of Chinese painting is the ink-wash painting (水墨画). Painters usually finish ink-wash paintings very quickly, and they 9 not always have much colour. Ink-wash paintings have fewer details, because the painter is trying to show 10 with just a few brush strokes (笔画). Most ink-wash artists do not work as painters. They paint as a hobby. 11 a good ink-wash artist can still become famous.
