由文章最后一个小标题“A budget gives you peace of mind. (预算能让你安心。)”可知,制定预算的好处之一是可以让你心安。 故选C项。
2.细节理解题。根据文章A budget allows you to spend money on things you really need or want.部分中的“A budget requires you to keep track of your expenses. You see where your money actually goes and plan where to cut back on spending. (预算要求你记录你的开支。你知道你的钱实际花在哪里,并计划在哪里削减开支。)”可知,记录开销的重要性在于你可以清楚地看到钱的实际去向,并据此规划何处可以减少支出。故选D项。
3.推理判断题。根据文章A budget can keep you out of debt部分中的“If you use credit cards, this may not be obvious. You might have extra cash at the end of each month and think that you’re OK. But, if you’re not paying your credit card bills in full, you’re probably living beyond your means.

根据第二段中的“My father grew up in a small village in the Dominican Republic. Despite not having many materials available, he created art with whatever he had.(我父亲在多米尼加共和国的一座小村庄长大。尽管当时可用的材料十分匮乏,他依旧利用手头仅有的一切东西进行艺术创作。)”以及前文父亲从小教作者画画的内容可知,作者介绍父亲的成长经历,是为了说明父亲坚韧的艺术态度与热爱,是其影响自己艺术成长的根源。
5.词句猜测题。根据第四段中的“I started to worry that I could never live up to my father’s talent. My simple, two-dimensional drawings fell flat compared to his realistic landscapes.(我开始担心自己永远达不到父亲那样的水准。和他写实的风景画相比,我那些简单的平面画作完全fell flat。)”可知,作者认为自己的画作远不如父亲的作品生动出彩,缺乏视觉吸引力,由此可知,画线短语表示“缺乏视觉美感与吸引力”。
6.推理判断题。根据第二段中的“He studied very hard. Eventually, my father was able to obtain his citizenship.(他刻苦求学,最终成功获得公民身份。)”以及第五段中的“Mia, you should audition for the school. I wish I’d had an opportunity to study art like this when I was a kid.(米娅,你应该参加这所学校的艺考,我小时候多希望能拥有这样学习艺术的机会。)”
根据尾段中的“I learned to embrace my individuality and my talent. I have become more open about sharing my artworks and receiving constructive criticism, which raises my self-belief in my art.(我学会接纳自己的独特与天赋。

根据第三段“Erin Westgate, a social psychology professor, compares mindless phone scrolling to “brain candy”. It brings us short-term pleasure but no meaningful value.(社会心理学教授Erin Westgate将无目的地刷手机比作“大脑糖果”。它只能给我们带来短暂的愉悦,却没有任何有意义的价值)”可知,无脑刷手机只能带来短暂、肤浅的快乐。
9.细节理解题。根据第四段中“Many people are afraid of boredom, but they usually overestimate how terrible it is. In a 2022 study, participants believed that sitting alone and doing nothing for 20 minutes would be painful. Surprisingly, after the experiment, they said they felt much happier than they had expected.(很多人害怕无聊,但他们往往高估了独处放空的糟糕程度。在2022年的一项研究中,参与者认为独自静坐20分钟什么都不做会十分煎熬。令人意外的是,实验结束后,他们表示自己的感受远比预想中愉悦)”可知,这项研究证明人们低估了放空思绪、独处遐想的美好,即白日遐想的价值被低估。
10.推理判断题。根据第六段中“Even when we stop thinking actively, our brains remain active in a “default mode”. In this state, different ideas can connect in new ways, which helps a lot with difficult and complex problems.(即便我们停止主动思考,大脑仍会在“默认模式”下保持活跃。在这种状态中,不同想法能以全新的方式产生联结,这对处理复杂棘手的问题大有帮助)”可知,不刻意聚焦的放空思考能够碰撞出新思路、激发创造力。
11.主旨大意题。根据第一段中“However, scientific studies show that if you can stop this habit and let your mind wander freely, you can gain many real benefits.(然而科学研究表明,如果你改掉刷手机的习惯,让思绪自由漫游,你会收获诸多实实在在的益处)”可知,文章主要讲述了思绪漫游的诸多益处,C选项“Unlock the Power of Your Wandering Mind(释放你漫游思想的能量)”作为文章标题最为合适。

根据第五段“I will give her a fixed amount every month and if she spends all the money before the month is over, then she will learn a lesson and not spend money so freely.(我每个月都会给她固定数额的零花钱,如果她在月底前把钱花光,就能吸取教训,不再随意花钱。)”
根据第六段“This helps him realize that “money does not grow on trees” and it needs hard work to earn money.(这能让他明白“钱不是大风刮来的”,赚钱需要付出辛勤劳动。)”
根据第一段“Parents have widely different views on pocket money. Five new fathers were asked this question and this is how they answered.(家长们对于零花钱持有截然不同的看法。五位新晋父亲接受了相关提问,以下是他们的回答。)”可知,文章主要介绍了五位父亲对于孩子零花钱的不同观点。

36.考查非谓语动词。句意:它源于儒家学说,强调尊重和照顾父母及长辈的重要性。此处为非谓语动词作状语,develop与逻辑主语it指代的Filial piety之间为被动关系,所以此处使用过去分词形式,单词位于句首首字母大写。故填Developed。

Version 1
Recently, our school English newspaper has sparked a discussion about teenagers blocking their parents on social media.
In my opinion, this happens because teens want privacy and independence. They are afraid parents may worry or interfere. However, I don't agree with completely blocking. It may make parents feel left out and damage family trust. Instead, we should find a balance.
To conclude, I suggest open communication and setting proper boundaries together. That way, parents can understand us and we can keep some privacy. Mutual respect is the key.
Version 2
Recently, our school English newspaper has sparked a discussion about teenagers blocking their parents on social media.
In recent years, it has become common for teenagers to do this. This phenomenon reflects the generation gap and adolescents’ pursuit of privacy. Teens desire a space free from parental scrutiny, where they can express themselves freely.
Personally, while I understand the need for personal space, complete isolation from family on social media isn’t ideal. Open communication is key. We should balance privacy and family connection, perhaps by having honest talks with family about our boundaries.

Thinking of the efforts his grandfather had made, Tom knew what he must do immediately. He flung the door and rushed outside without a second thought. Picking up a broom(扫帚), he began sweeping away the fallen leaves and the broken branches. Despite the coldness in the dark, he worked hard, feeling a sense of mission he hadn't experienced in a long time. His face was full of determination, with sweat streaming down his cheeks. Looking at him, His family smiled with relief. As they continued working bit by bit, the garden started to take on a new look. Tom stood in the centre of the garden and took a deep breath, enjoying the brand-new garden.
He was appreciating the renewed garden when his Mom came over. She gently put her hand on his shoulder and praised, "I'm so proud of you, Tom." Tom lowered his head slightly, his cheeks flushing with shame. "Mom, I'm really sorry for always being so obsessed with(沉湎于) games." His mom's eyes softened, and she pulled him into a warm hug. He realised that it was much easier to set up a virtual world in the game Minecraft but not that easy to build a garden in reality, because the real world needed responsibility, joined efforts and more communication. This experience was like a little seed, thriving in the corner of Tom's heart and encouraging him to be a better self.

B
One of my earliest memories is of my father sitting me down at our kitchen table with canvases, paints, and brushes. He taught me how to blend colors and use different materials. Whenever we felt inspired, we set out all our materials and painted what our hearts desired.
My father grew up in a small village in the Dominican Republic. Despite not having many materials available, he created art with whatever he had. My father saved his money to buy paints and colored pencils to draw on the walls around his home. When he was 15, he arrived in America alone and stayed with his aunt in Florida for a while before finishing high school in New York with another aunt. He studied very hard. Eventually, my father was able to obtain his citizenship.
As I got older, he continued to give me lessons, teaching me different brush strokes and how to take care of my art supplies. He taught me to find beauty in everything and everyone around me. I grew to love drawing people, as I could highlight the physical features that make everyone unique and beautiful.
It wasn’t until I began looking carefully into my father’s paintings and the work of popular artists on Instagram that I started to be more critical of my work. I started to worry that I could never live up to my father’s talent. My simple, two-dimensional drawings fell flat compared to his realistic landscapes. Going through my sketchbooks and portfolios, I found fault in all my drawings. Art was my favorite thing in the world but I started to believe I wasn’t good at it. Instead of working toward improving, I decided to give up drawing.
My father noticed that I had been drawing and painting less and told me, “Mia, you should audition for the school. I wish I’d had an opportunity to study art like this when I was a kid.” My father’s bravery and strength are things that I desire to have. So over the next few months, I worked on my portfolio. Looking back at my pictures, I can see how much I have improved since then. The school must have seen potential in my drawings because I got in!
It was eye-opening to attend a college that specializes in the arts. I learned to embrace my individuality and my talent. I have become more open about sharing my artworks and receiving constructive criticism, which raises my self-belief in my art.
4.Why does the author introduce her father’s experience in paragraph 2?
A.To prove that art is a way to fight poverty.
B.To illustrate the roots of her father’s influence on her.
C.To criticize the lack of educational chances in rural areas.
D.To contrast her life with the difficulties her father experienced.
5.What do the underlined words “fell flat” in paragraph 4 mean?
A.Lacked visual appeal. B.Outshone other works.
C.Had complex structures. D.Looked incredibly realistic.
6.What kind of person is the author’s father?
A.Brave and carefree. B.Creative but stubborn.
C.Ambitious but dependent. D.Persistent and supportive.
7.What can we learn from the last paragraph?
A.Art is about following established rules.
B.Talent guarantees admission to art programs.
C.Confidence comes from accepting imperfection.
D.Progress can be achieved through trial and error.

When we wait at a bus stop or stand in a line, most people will lower their heads and scroll through their phones. However, scientific studies show that if you can stop this habit and let your mind wander freely, you can gain many real benefits.
We spend almost half of our awake time daydreaming. But this mental state is not always enjoyable. A study once showed that some people even chose to receive small electric shocks rather than stay alone with their own thoughts. This perfectly explains why we pick up our phones automatically as soon as we have free time.
Erin Westgate, a social psychology professor, compares mindless phone scrolling to “brain candy”. It brings us short-term pleasure but no meaningful value. She also points out that most great human achievements come from deep and high-level thinking, not simple amusement.
So next time you have a few spare minutes, put your phone aside and let your thoughts flow. Many people are afraid of boredom, but they usually overestimate how terrible it is. In a 2022 study, participants believed that sitting alone and doing nothing for 20 minutes would be painful. Surprisingly, after the experiment, they said they felt much happier than they had expected.
Kou Murayama, a famous researcher, says that the ability to let your mind wander is unique to humans. When we daydream, we can look back on past experiences and think from other people’s perspectives. This special ability helps us study better and understand others more easily.
Besides, mind-wandering plays an important role in solving problems. Many people come up with better solutions when they relax their minds instead of focusing hard on a problem all the time. This often happens during daily activities like driving or taking a shower. Even when we stop thinking actively, our brains remain active in a “default mode”. In this state, different ideas can connect in new ways, which helps a lot with difficult and complex problems.
Apart from improving our cognitive ability, daydreaming also helps strengthen our social and emotional relationships. A study found that imagining happy moments with family and friends can make us feel closer to them. Social daydreaming allows us to practice conversations, review past talks and prepare for future social situations. As psychologist Poerio puts it, our ability to “travel through time” in our minds helps us deal with social life better.

Parents have widely different views on pocket money. Five new fathers were asked this question and this is how they answered.
Ashish Khanna: Although many argue that pocket money helps develop children’s sense of value, I don’t agree. I wouldn’t give my child any pocket money. First of all, I never got pocket money when I was a child and I seem to have a good sense of value. If my child ever wants something and I feel it is necessary, I will buy it for him.
Sharad Sanghi: I wouldn’t give my child pocket money because I don’t want her to form the perception (看法) of “her” money and “my” money. Besides, if I refuse to buy her something that I think is bad for her, she may buy it with her pocket money secretly. I feel it also encourages children to care more about money than anything else. I don’t want my child to start judging other children by the amount of money they have.
Rakesh Shah: I would give my child pocket money. I feel that children should learn to spend money intelligently and not go overboard on spending. They will learn what their limitations are and feel the difficulty when they have to pay for something that they can’t afford.
Rajiv Patel: I would give my child pocket money because it is important for her to learn how to manage money. I will give her a fixed amount every month and if she spends all the money before the month is over, then she will learn a lesson and not spend money so freely.
Vikram Desai: I would certainly give my child pocket money. But I would not give it to him on a weekly or monthly basis. He would have to earn it. If he helps me finish some of my jobs or helps his mother with housework, I will reward him. This helps him realize that “money does not grow on trees” and it needs hard work to earn money.

A year ago, Mary Smith bought a computer for the whole family, never thinking that it would lead to her sixteen-year-old son Tom becoming addicted to playing games.
Tom was playing computer games for increasing amounts of time, and gradually, he hardly left his seat. Mary tried to limit his game time, but this only seemed to fuel his addiction further and cause more arguments. Among his games, there was one he especially liked:Minecraft. In it, he would design his own virtual world as he wanted it to be.
Although desperate, Mary never gave up on finding a way to help the boy struggling with this gaming addiction. She decided to take Tom to visit his grandfather, who owned a big farm. Every day, his grandfather walked through rows of crops, examining the plants for pests or disease. He found great satisfaction in caring for the land and animals. For him, the farm was not just a place of work but a way of life. Tom was unwilling to leave his game, but he knew it was not a good idea to go against his mother this time.
When they arrived at the airport in the late afternoon, Grandfather drove them to his farm. They were all packed in the car, with adults chatting and laughing, but Tom felt lonely.Looking out of the window, he was attracted by the amazing scenery. The water was blue and sunlight glittered on its clear surface and the grassland flowed like a sea of green. He couldn't help thinking of the world he would have designed in his computer game.
After settling down, Tom shut himself in his room. Except for dinner, he refused to come out of his room and remained there all day.Sometimes, he stood by the window, staring at the peaceful garden his grandfather had made.
One night, drops of water from the ceiling dripped onto his face, making him wake up.Shocked at what he saw, he realized a big rainstorm had just ended. He stood with his nose pressed against the glass, watching his family struggling to clear the mess in the dim light.
Thinking of the efforts his grandfather had made, Tom knew what he must do immediately.
He was appreciating the renewed garden when his mom came over.
