What is your first impression of bamboo in China? Is it only a kind of plant on the food list of pandas? No! It also represents single bamboo drifting (独竹漂), an intangible cultural heritage (非物质文化遗产) passed from generation to generation among the people in Guizhou Province.
Single bamboo drifting has been performed for more than 2,000 years. In the old times, the ancestors who lived on the bank of the Chishui River used it as a method to go across the river. Now, with the development of modern transportation (交通;运输), this skill has been regarded as a sport or a unique way of performance by local people.
Some middle school students practice the sport and compete in the Chinese National Games. The requirements of the sport are simple, yet demanding (严苛的)! Athletes have to balance on a bamboo pole, only as wide as one’s foot, and guide it down the river with a thin stick. But there’s more than just guiding. While keeping balance on the narrow bamboo pole with the thin stick, the athletes are performing skills and tricks. Jumping, push-ups, and splits (劈叉) are some of the most common ones, and those people who are more experienced often use their imagination to try out more difficult moves.
Yang Liu, a 25-year-old “water fairy (精灵)” from Zunyi, Guizhou, dancing on the river in traditional Chinese costume, is an inheritor (继承人) of single bamboo drifting. For over ten years, combining drifting with dancing, Yang has put fresh energy into this traditional art. It’s not easy to stand, so it’s harder to dance on a single bamboo. So not surprisingly, Yang has experienced countless falls and failures. Thanks to her and other inheritors’ efforts, single bamboo drifting has gotten great fame on the Internet and become well-known in the world.
38. What did we mainly use single bamboo drifting for in ancient times?
A. A kind of sport. B. A way of dance.

42. What would be the best structure of the passage?
A. ①/②③④ B. ①②/③④

Anger often makes us uncomfortable. Seeing your kids’ anger can be especially uncomfortable. In order to relieve (缓解) this feeling, parents often encourage children to “stop crying” and say things like “It’s nothing to cry about.” It’s moments like those that plant the seeds of unhealthy anger. The “stop crying” parents are just doing what they were taught by their own parents, who were probably taught that by their parents on and on. However, we should learn how to create healthy anger in our kids. Here are a few things you should pay attention to.
If a child never sees his or her parents express anger, he or she should never express anger, either. But if parents always express their anger loudly, their children may start to think of anger as something that is always frightening.
The first thing you can do to create healthy anger in your children is to practice creating healthy anger in yourself. Once you’re better at experiencing anger and expressing it in a healthy way, you’ll be able to set a good example for your kids.
Stopping kids from expressing their feelings is wrong. You may feel bad when you believe you are wrong. When children express their feelings and are told that it’s nothing to cry about, they come to know that they themselves are bad.
We need to raise them in an environment where it’s safe to express feelings. Once you feel more comfortable with your own anger, you can teach your children why anger is a helpful feeling. When your kids express anger, help them examine what has made them angry. Why did it make them angry? How did it do that? Then you can teach them that those feelings are never wrong and our expressions of feelings are in our control.
Anger is natural and normal, and it can be experienced and expressed in a healthy way.
48. Why do parents say “It’s nothing to cry about.” to their children?
A. To encourage them to stop crying. B. To make them uncomfortable.
C. To relieve their anger. D. To plant the seeds of unhealthy anger.
49. What can we infer from the second paragraph?
A. Parents’ ways to express anger have a great influence on their children.
B. Parents should get angry with their children.
C. Expressing anger loudly is right, not wrong.
D. Children should express their anger like their parents.
50. How should parents set a good example for children according to the passage?
A. By stopping them from expressing their anger.
B. By expressing their own anger in a healthy way.
C. By letting them know they are right or wrong.
D. By raising them in a safe environment.
51. What does the writer think of anger?
A. Wrong. B. Uncomfortable. C. Harmful. D. Normal and helpful
52. What’s the main idea of the passage?
A. Anger often makes us and our children uncomfortable.
B. Parents should create healthy anger in themselves.
C. Parents should create healthy anger in their kids.
D. Parents should never express their anger.

Put down your phone, turn off the computer, and forget about those clothes on the floor and the dirty plates in the kitchen, ____24____ it’s time for “niksen” (什么都不做).
This is one of the most recent wellness trends (趋势), and it sounds like one of the ____25____ things. “Niksen” means “doing nothing”. It comes from the Dutch word “niks”, and it ____26____ “nothing”, and it has become quite popular. Some gyms in the UK have even begun “niksen” classes.
But while “niksen” does sound like the easiest thing in the world to do, many people say that because our lives are so busy, switching off (不再想着) is ____27____ quite hard.
Olga Mecking has written a book about it, and she says it’s different from meditation (冥想). When we meditate, we’re concentrating on breathing or our ____28____, but “niksen” really means doing nothing. “It’s about letting ____29____ mind wander (漫游) wherever it wants to go,” says Mecking.
The idea is ____30____ time without any purpose, according to Carolien Hamming, a stress expert from the Netherlands. However, there is no right or wrong way to “niks” that’s the verb some people use to talk about their time spent doing nothing. And it may take some practice to get used to ____31____ nothing, the expert says. Megan Cannon, a social worker in the US, said that you can begin by looking at a tree, and then just “let the thoughts ____32____ where they will”. There might not be a purpose to that time you spend doing nothing, but ____33____ people who enjoy “niksen” think it can help with stress and burnout

“___ it’s time for ‘niksen’”表示前后分句构成因果逻辑。
“one of the ___ things”表示“……
因为固定搭配get used to doing sth.,to是介词,后面接动名词,do变为doing。
因为固定结构let sb./sth. do sth.,let后面接动词原形,所以选择go。
“but ___ people”中,空格处词语限定后面的people。

C. A form of traditional art. D. A type of transportation.
39. Why is a thin stick needed in single bamboo drifting?
A. To try out difficult moves. B. To balance and guide.
C. To perform different tricks. D. To practice and compete.
40. What do we know about Yang Liu?
A. She was a fairy with magical power.
B. She kept practicing for over 10 years.
C. She was good at the skill from the start.
D. She didn’t like the traditional art.
41. What mainly made single bamboo drifting famous around the world?
A. The spread of sports spirits.
B. The development of tourism.
C. The popularity of Chinese festivals.
D. The continuous efforts of generations.

C 49. A 50. B 51. D 52. C
由第一段第二句:“In order to relieve this feeling, parents often encourage children to ‘stop crying’ and say things like ‘It’s nothing to cry about.’”
第二段提到“If a child never sees his or her parents express anger, he or she should never express anger, either. But if parents always express their anger loudly, their children may start to think of anger as something that is always frightening.”
