Dear Jack,
I remember the moment — it truly hit me that your autism(自闭症) lasted forever. I had already mentally planned our trips up north with the boys. I was going to spend endless hours playing baseball with you — like Grandpa did with me.
When we said goodbye to kindergarten I knew it was real. I spent some time being sad. Now you are 8. You still have no words. We have never had one of those father-son moments I pictured when you were a baby. But I’m learning that’s OK. I still have unbelievable things to offer as your dad, even if they weren’t the things I originally expected.
You have taught me to be patient. You have taught me that it’s OK to be different and to be sad when life doesn’t go as planned. You have taught me that it is OK to talk about those feelings and fight for what is right. Stand up and say this is wrong, and encourage others to stand up for you and say the same.
My job on this earth is to create a world for you and other kids like you. Be the voice you don’t have, and build the kind of community which I want to see you grow up in. I used to shy a way from contacting people with disabilities or just not consider them. Before you were born, I was so caught up in my own world that I probably wouldn’t have even noticed. Now, I see things differently. I notice. You did that for me. And hope my example will do that for others.
Your mom and I have spent 8 years trying to find your voice. And honestly, we don’t know if we ever will. I promise you I will spend my life keeping you safe and making this world better for you.
1.What can be learned about the author?
A.He is at a loss what to do to help Jack. B.He is to blame for Jack’s present condition.
C.He has changed his attitude to the disabled. D.He hasn’t accepted the reality up to now.
2.How does the author sound in the text?
A.Ashamed. B.Caring.
C.Regretful. D.Indifferent.
3.In which section of a magazine may this text appear?
A.Science. B.Entertainment.
C.Sports. D.Relationship.
The first time I swam at night was in the sea, just off the beach in Dover. I was in my mid-20s, training with a group of strangers for a Channel relay Back then, I didn’t like the dark on land, and if something touched my leg in the water, I would get really frightened. Naturally, the dark sea just made me especially nervous. However, because I knew how much this chance meant, I tried to hide my fear and get on with it. 1 But inside, my heart raced.
What I remember is unclear: the brown water of that coastline and the red and green lights hanging from our goggles (护目镜). There were no clear conversations or details I can remember. 2 Just unclear moments and nerves. And yet, some of my most powerful, emotional swims since then have been in the dark.
3 It was early summer and my friend Amanda encouraged me to come along for a night swim in the hope of seeing them. I had no idea what to expect. The experience was amazing. I walked into the water and trusted the people near me. After a few minutes, when I started swimming, I saw a line of sparkling (闪烁的) lights in the water. It took my breath away.
Every move made lights appear. It felt like magic. The lights stayed and every time I moved, I saw more shining lights. It was unusual and quietly extraordinary. 4
It may seem strange to invite you into darkness in May just as the days lengthen and light stays further into the evening. 5 Whether you are planning your first night swim or training for a long and difficult challenge, I hope you can discover the magic that waits after sunset.
A.Outwardly I put on a brave face.
B.I can’t think of any beauty or joy.
C.The other swimmers seemed calm and confident.
D.But this is a beautiful time to experiment and play.
E.My friend Amanda had been swimming at night for years.
F.One of my favorite swimming memories was looking for sea lights.
G.It is a gift from the wild that feels almost unreal until you actually experience it.

I ended up 4 my entire schedule on that calendar. Every appointment, every date, every out-of-town visitor, every meeting — my whole life was there. It became part of my 5 : I’d walk by and check it every day before I headed out the door. The intense fear of a packed schedule seemed far more 6 with everything written down in front of me. So, the next year, I 7 another wall calendar.
The 8 of using a wall calendar, of course, is that it is quite literally a calendar stuck to a wall and thus not portable. But I had a(n) 9 : I’d log events into my phone calendar, set 10 for them and take photos for backup. Then I didn’t buy another wall calendar. I was already using my phone calendar so much, anyway, and I wanted to be like everyone else I knew who just used their phone to 11 . Having my entire life on the wall for my roommates and guests to see also made me feel 12 .
But before long, I missed the calming ritual of writing my entire month out, and being able to see the broad 13 of my schedule at a glance. I missed my wall calendar. It never moves, waiting to prove that my schedule isn’t that overwhelming. Everything is broken up into 14 organized boxes, putting chaos under control.
That’s why I decided to finally 15 to a wall calendar earlier this month, and to take it seriously this time.

1.Come a little bit closer _______________________ (你就可以看得更清楚).
【答案】so that you can get a better view
根据题目要求可知,空格处用so that引导目的状语从句;再根据汉语提示可知,从句中表示“你”用人称代词you作主语,表示“可以”用情态动词can,表示“看得更清楚”可用短语get a better view,所以目的状语从句为so that you can get a better view。
2.On the other hand, when you are struggling to control your feelings, you wish they _________ (他们能更加体贴,更有耐心) — sometimes they forget that growing up is a rough ride.
【答案】could be more caring and patient
“能”用表过去能力的情态动词could,后跟动词原形;“更加体贴,更有耐心”用be more caring and patient。
3.__________________ (打消他们顾虑的关键) is regular and honest communication.
The key to addressing their concerns
The key to addressing their concerns。
4.The company _______ (被作为攻击目标) by animal rights groups for its use of dogs in drug trials recently.
【答案】has been targeted
故填has been targeted。
5.The slow and peaceful process of tea ceremony ________ (远离现代压力), allowing people to relax and reflect.
【答案】provides freedom from modern stress
的自由”用动词短语provide freedom from...,表示“现代压力”用modern stress作from的宾语。 The slow and peaceful process of tea ceremony为单数,因此谓语动词用第三人称单数形式。故填provides freedom from modern stress。
6.It is no surprising that the price of oil __________ (快速增长) in recent weeks.
【答案】has shot up
故填has shot up。
7.He refuses to __________ (认输,承认错误) even in the face of pressure, knowing that staying true to himself is crucial for personal growth.
【答案】back down
refuse to do sth. 故填back down。
8.One of the staff saw he was in difficulty and ________________ (进行急救).
【答案】gave first aid
故填gave first aid。
9.________________________(把你自己和别人比较是没有意义的) all the time. (There’s no point in doing sth.句式)
There’s no point in comparing you with others.
本题考查固定句型“There’s no point in doing sth.”,意为“做某事没有意义”,“把你自己和别人比较”可以翻译为“compare you with others”。故填There’s no point in comparing you with others。
10.How many people ____________ (死于被动吸烟) worldwide every year?
【答案】die from passive smoking

结合原句,可知本句话的中心是“我把油画视为一种不可逾越的高深艺术形式”,直接用“I took oil painting as the taboo (禁忌) high form.”即可。故填I took oil painting as the taboo (禁忌) high form.
2.Miss Green presented a prize to the student. His performance was the best in the competition.
________________________________________________________________
Miss Green presented a prize to the student whose performance was the best in the competition.
Miss Green presented a prize to the student whose performance was the best in the competition.
3.The more you repeat a bad idea, the more likely people are to believe it.
→It is more likely that ________________________________________________________________.
【答案】people believe a bad idea if it is repeated again and again by you
越……,前半句表示一种假设,可用if从句替换,“if it is repeated again and again by you”为“The more you repeat a bad idea”的被动语态,后半句原句“the more likely people are to believe it”是be more likely to do的句式,表示更可能做某事,可换成It is more likely that的主语从句的句式,表示同样的含义。故答案为people believe a bad idea if it is repeated again and again by you。
4.Think it over, and you’ll find you’re likely to have done something wrong.(用if改写)
________________________________________________________________
If you think it over, you’ll find that you’re likely to have done something wrong.
If you think it over, you’ll find that you’re likely to have done something wrong.
5.Try to do something for your mother and it will make her happy.(用非限制性定语从句改写)
________________________________________________________________
Try to do something for your mother, which will make her happy.
句中it指代and之前Try to do something for your mother的内容,句子可使用非限制性定语从句改写,使用关系代词which指代前边的句子Try to do something for your mother,引导定语从句,并在从句中作主语。 Try to do something for your mother, which will make her happy.
6.The hunter is shooting antelopes for the fur beneath their stomachs.
________________________________________________________________
Antelopes are being shot for the fur beneath their stomachs by the hunter.
Antelopes are being shot for the fur beneath their stomachs by the hunter.。
7.I hear that you have trouble adapting to life in the new campus. I am concerned about you.
________________________________________________________________
Hearing that you have trouble adapting to life in the new campus, I am concerned about you.
句子分析可知,两个句子的主语一致,主语I与动词hear之间为主动关系,两句可以合并为一句,句子“I hear that you have trouble adapting to life in the new campus.”可改写为hearing that you have trouble adapting to life in the new campus作状语,即此句改写为“Hearing that you have trouble adapting to life in the new campus, I am concerned about you.”,句子主语I与动词hear构成逻辑上的主谓关系,用现在分词形式hearing表主动,在句中作状语。 Hearing that you have trouble adapting to life in the new campus, I am concerned about you.
8.Volunteer activities make us feel better about ourselves. They make our life more meaningful.
________________________________________________________________
Volunteer activities make us feel better about ourselves, making our life more meaningful.
根据句意,可将“they make our life more meaningful.” Volunteer activities make us feel better about ourselves, making our life more meaningful.

Dear Jack,
I remember the moment — it truly hit me that your autism(自闭症) lasted forever.
由倒数第二段中的句子“I used to shy away from contacting people with disabilities or just not consider them.(我过去常常回避与残疾人接触,或者根本不考虑他们。)”和“Before you were born, I was so caught up in my own world that I probably wouldn’t have even noticed. Now, I see things differently.
由第三段的句子“You have taught me to be patient. You have taught me that it’s OK to be different and to be sad when life doesn’t go as planned.(你教会了我要有耐心。
【答案】1.A 2.B 3.F 4.G 5.D
根据空前的“However, because I knew how much this chance meant, I tried to hide my fear and get on with it.(然而,因为我知道这次机会意义有多重大,我努力隐藏恐惧、坚持下去。)” A选项“Outwardly I put on a brave face (我表面上装作十分勇敢)”中的Outwardly与后文inside形成鲜明对比,符合转折逻辑,贴合语境。
2.根据空前的“There were no clear conversations or details I can remember.(我记不清清晰的对话和具体细节了。)” B选项“I can’t think of any beauty or joy (我回想不起任何美好与愉悦的感受)”承接上文记忆模糊的内容,引出后文仅有紧张感,符合语境。
3.根据空后的“It was early summer and my friend Amanda encouraged me to come along for a night swim in the hope of seeing them.(初夏时节,朋友阿曼达鼓励我夜泳,希望能见到它们。)” F选项“One of my favorite swimming memories was looking for sea lights (我最喜爱的游泳回忆之一是寻找海上荧光)”总领本段内容,引出下文神奇的夜泳见闻,符合语境。
4.根据空前的“It was unusual and quietly extraordinary.(这不同寻常,静谧又非凡。)” G选项“It is a gift from the wild that feels almost unreal until you actually experience it (这是大自然的馈赠,亲身经历前会觉得无比虚幻)”中的It指代前文水中闪烁的光影,承接上文对美景的赞美,贴合语境。
5.根据空前的“It may seem strange to invite you into darkness in May just as the days lengthen and light stays further into the evening.(五月白昼渐长、夜色姗姗来迟,此时邀请大家夜泳似乎有些奇怪。)” D选项“But this is a beautiful time to experiment and play (但这正是体验和享受夜泳的绝佳时段)”通过 But 转折,化解前文的违和感,收束全文并发出体验夜泳的期许,符合语境。
