China has the world’s oldest tradition of poetry(诗歌), dating back over 3,000 years. Chinese people believe poets(诗人) can express the true feelings of ordinary people. Du Fu was one of the greatest Chinese poets.
Du Fu lived in the 8th century, during the Tang Dynasty of China. It was a time of great culture in China, but later became a period of war and great suffering. During this difficult time, Du Fu wrote many famous poems.
