Recently, students went to Yuxian County in Hebei to learn about a special Chinese art called “Yuxian County paper-cutting”.
Chinese festivals are always full of joy and traditional customs. And Yuxian County paper-cutting helps make the festivals more festive. When they got into the inheritor (继承者) Zhou Shuying’s studio, the students were shocked by the artwork. These paper-cuts are not only beautiful but also full of life.
According to Zhou, Yuxian County paper-cutting is different from other kinds. It mainly uses dyeing techniques (染色技术) , making the paper images look nice and lively. This style has been around for more than 200 years. During the Spring Festival, people often put paper-cuts on windows. The red paper-cuts with different patterns, like the character “福” and cute animals, bring good wishes for the new year.
To show the art, Zhou made a piece of paper-cutting right in front of the students. With quick moves, she cut two butterflies. Finally, Zhou showed students an award-winning (获奖的) piece. In it, there were nine dragons.
Through this learning experience, the students really felt the beauty of Chinese paper-cutting and admired Zhou’s love for the art. They thought she was a real hero who keeps Chinese culture alive. They also understood the rich paper-cutting culture of Yuxian County. They thought it should be known by more and more people.
59. Why did the students go to Yuxian County?

What do you think about nature? Most of us know that nature is good for our health. But these days, people are spending less time outside. For example, fewer and fewer people are visiting Canada’s national parks. In the United States, only 10% of teenagers go outside every day. Many doctors think this is a big problem in modern life.
Because of this, doctors are studying the connection between nature and health. Dr. Matilda in Sweden gave people a maths test. Their heart rates (心率) went up during the test. After the test, one group rested for 15 minutes in a 3D-virtual-reality (三维虚拟现实) room with nature pictures and sounds. Their heart rates slowed down more than the other group’s. The nature pictures and sounds helped them relax.
In Canada, Toronto researchers studied 31, 000 people in the city. They found healthier people often lived near parks.
Because of studies like this, some countries and cities want nature to be part of people’s everyday life. In Dubai, for example, there are plans for a new shopping mall with a large garden, so shoppers can relax outside with trees, plants and water. Many cities in China also build millions of sports parks and walking paths for people. More Chinese people are exercising outdoors. So after building cities for so long, perhaps it’s now time to start rebuilding nature.
62. What is a big problem in modern life according to doctors?
A. People know too little about nature. B. People spend less time outside.
C. People visit national parks too often. D. People go outside every day.
63. What is Paragraph 2 mainly about?
A. Maths tests are very hard. B. Doctors worry about modern problems.
C. Nature helps people relax. D. 3D-virtual-reality rooms are best for relaxing.
64. What is Dubai planning to add to its new shopping mall?
A. More shops and restaurants. B. A large garden.
C. A big sports center. D. A 3D-virtual-reality room.

Many of us don’t pay much attention to the importance of eye care. It is said that if you take care of each part of your body, then you can surely be healthy. That is why our eyes should also be given a lot of care. Natural eye care should be put in the first place.
There are several causes leading to poor eyesight like not having enough food, genes (基因) and aging (老化). Using your eyes for too long is also a cause of having poor eyesight. If you use your eyes a lot, it is best to take a break every once in a while.
Something dirty can cause redness and it will make you feel uncomfortable. It is bad for your eyes too. If this happens, you’d better clean your eyes with cold water. You must also try your best to protect your eyes from harmful things. For example, you can wear sunglasses when the sun shines a lot.
Eating healthy food is good for your eyesight. Remember that vitamins A, C and E are good for eyes. Try to eat food that has these vitamins. If a person exercises often and eats the right kinds of food, his eyes will stay in good condition for a long time.
