七、阅读理解
A What Is a Piggy Bank and Why Do We Use It?
Almost everyone has seen a piggy bank at some point in their lives. These small containers, usually shaped like a pig, are used to save coins. But why do we use them, and why are they shaped like pigs?
The history of the piggy bank goes back to the Middle Ages in Europe. At that time, people used a type of clay called "pygg" to make pots and jars. They would keep their money in these pygg jars. Over time, the pronunciation of "pygg" changed, and people began to think of it as "pig". So the jars were made into the shape of a pig.
Piggy banks are popular because they are simple to use. You just drop your coins into the slot (投币口) on top. Unlike a bank account, you can see your savings grow. This gives you a sense of achievement and encourages you to save more.
Today, piggy banks come in all shapes and sizes. Some are not even shaped like pigs anymore. But the basic idea remains the same—to help people save money in a fun and easy way.

B My Dream Tin Story
Last summer, my friend Lily introduced me to the idea of a dream tin. She had just finished reading a book called "A Dog Called Money". She was so excited about it that she decided to try it herself.
Lily took a small metal box that once held cookies. She wrote "University Fund" on it with a marker. Her dream was to save enough money to pay for her first year at university. She put all her spare coins and notes into the box. At first, she only saved a few dollars a week. But after six months, she had saved over $200!
Lily's success inspired me. I decided to start my own dream tin. I wrote "Guitar" on a glass jar. I've been saving for three months now. I'm not there yet, but I'm getting closer every day. The best part is that saving has become a habit. I now think twice before spending money on things I don't really need.
I believe that anyone can benefit from a dream tin. It doesn't matter how much you save—what matters is the discipline (自律) you develop along the way.
( )6. What inspired Lily to start using a dream tin?
A. Her teacher's advice. B. A book she had read.
C. A friend's suggestion. D. An advertisement online.
( )7. What was Lily's dream goal?
A. To buy a guitar. B. To go on a holiday.
C. To save for university. D. To buy a laptop.
( )8. How much had Lily saved after six months?
A. About $100. B. About $200. C. About $500. D. About $50.
( )9. What did the writer decide to save money for?
A. A guitar. B. A new phone. C. A trip abroad. D. A laptop.
( )10. What did the writer learn from the experience?
A. It is impossible to save money. B. The amount of money saved matters most.
C. Saving money helps develop discipline. D. Dream tins are only for children.

九、阅读综合(阅读下面的短文,完成表格并根据短文内容回答问题)
My Dream Tin Journey
Last year, I decided to use dream tins to save for three things: a new bicycle, a camera, and a donation to a local animal shelter. I wrote each dream on a separate tin and started saving. Here is how my journey went.
For the bicycle, I saved 20 yuan every week. It took me eight months to save enough. I was so happy when I finally got my bike. For the camera, I saved 30 yuan each week. It took me only five months because I was more disciplined. For the donation, I saved whatever spare change I had. It wasn't a fixed amount, but after ten months, I had 400 yuan to give to the shelter.
Through this experience, I learned several important lessons. First, saving money takes patience. Second, the amount you save matters less than the habit of saving. Third, having clear goals makes saving much easier.
