B My Visit to the Art Museum
Last month, my art class took a trip to the art museum. Our teacher told us we would see a famous Chinese painting called Along the River During the Qingming Festival. I was very excited because I had heard so much about it.
When we entered the exhibition hall, I saw the painting on a long glass case. It was much longer than I expected — over 5 meters! The painting was so detailed. I saw many small figures: workers pulling a boat, people shopping at street stalls, and businessmen carrying goods. My teacher pointed out a bridge and said, "Look at how crowded the bridge is!" I could see people walking, some carrying things, others just chatting.
One thing that surprised me was how well the painting showed life in the Northern Song Dynasty. The artist must have been very observant. He painted everything carefully, from the clothes people wore to the food they sold. I felt like I was looking at an old photograph.
After the visit, our teacher asked us to write a report. I wrote about how the painting made me feel — it was like traveling back in time. I have a new appreciation for art now. I want to learn more about Chinese paintings.

C Why Art Matters
Art has been a part of human history for thousands of years. From ancient cave paintings to modern digital art, people have always created art. But why is art so important? There are many reasons.
First, art helps us understand history. Paintings like Along the River During the Qingming Festival and A Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains show us what life was like centuries ago. They provide a visual record of how people lived, worked, and played. Without art, we would have fewer ways to connect with the past.
Second, art allows us to express emotions. Sometimes words are not enough to describe how we feel. Art gives us another way to communicate. A painting can make us feel joy, sadness, or wonder. It speaks to our hearts in a way that words cannot.
Third, art brings beauty to our lives. It makes our surroundings more colorful and inspiring. Whether it is a painting on a wall, a sculpture in a park, or music in the background, art enriches our daily experiences.
In conclusion, art is not just decoration. It is a window into the past, a tool for expression, and a source of beauty. We should all take time to appreciate art in our lives.
( )11. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. Art is only for professional artists. B. Art is important for many reasons.
C. Modern art is better than ancient art. D. Only paintings are considered art.
( )12. According to the passage, what does art help us understand?
A. Only modern life. B. History and how people lived in the past.
C. Only the future. D. Only ourselves.
( )13. Why is art a good way to express emotions?
A. Because it is cheaper than writing. B. Because it can communicate when words cannot.
C. Because it is easier to learn. D. Because everyone can paint.
( )14. What does art bring to our lives according to the passage?
A. More work. B. Beauty and inspiration. C. More money. D. New friends.
( )15. What does the author suggest at the end of the passage?
A. We should all become artists. B. We should take time to appreciate art.
C. We should only look at ancient art. D. We should ignore modern art.
