Self-confidence is very important for middle school students. It helps us face difficulties bravely and try new things. However, many teenagers feel unconfident because of small weaknesses.
My classmate Tony used to be a shy boy. He is not very tall. In the past, he was afraid of others’ jokes, so he never took part in school activities. He always stayed quiet and dared not show himself in front of the class.
His teacher noticed his problem and talked with him patiently. She told Tony that real value never comes from appearance. Hard work, kindness and courage make a person excellent. Tony started to change. He spent his free time reading books and practicing English speaking. He has kept practicing for one year.

Many students lose confidence because they compare themselves with others. They think their classmates are taller, smarter or more talented. This kind of comparison brings self-doubt and sadness.
In fact, nobody is perfect. Everyone has advantages and weaknesses. Some people are good at study, while others do well in art or sports. Your shining points may be different from others’, but they are also valuable.
If you want to build confidence, stop endless comparison. Instead, find your own strengths. You may be careful, patient or helpful. These good personalities can make you special.
At the same time, learn to accept your imperfections. If you are shy, don’t be ashamed of it. Quiet people are good at thinking and observing. If you are not good at some subjects, keep practicing and making progress little by little.

Be a Confident Teenager
Confidence is very important in our teenage life. It can help us face difficulties bravely and make progress in study and life.
I used to be a shy boy and I was afraid of speaking in public. Although I was good at writing, I never dared to show my works to others. But I have changed a lot in the past year. I have kept practicing speaking every day and tried to take part in different school activities. Now I am much more confident than before.
I learn that true confidence comes from hard work. We don’t need to be perfect. Just believe in ourselves and keep improving, and we will become better versions of ourselves.
