人称代词:it, they, he, she,需在前文找到对应名词。
因果关系:so, therefore, because → 前后有因果链。

16. E根据上文“Need a break between classes or just a quick pick-me-up in the morning? The College Cafe has just that, and more.” E选项“Not only does this cafe serve up drinks, it also serves up smiles.”通过“Not only...also...”
17. D 根据上文“She goes back and forth between machines to make the drinks.”及下文“As the customer grabs the drink from her hand, she smiles and says, “Hello, how is your day?” Even when the line is getting longer, she doesn’t let it get in the way of her genuine conversations.” D选项“After finishing an order, she calls out the name on the cup.”中的“finishing an order”衔接“make the drinks”,“calls out the name”引出顾客接饮品的场景,形成“制作—叫号—交付”的完整流程。

中的“arrives early”补充了“准时上班”之外的主动性,“serve the students early”呼应“like to make coffee for the students”,展现其敬业精神。故选C项。
19. F根据上文“Joanna Wright, a senior political science major, loves coffee and goes to the cafe at least six days a week. 及下文““Catherine always has a huge smile on her face, which always puts me in a cheerful mood,” Wright said. 中的“starts her day off good”解释了“每周去六天”的动机,且“cheerful mood”与墨菲的微笑服务形成因果关系。故选F项。

F 37. C 38. G 39. E 40. A
36.上文“My husband and I just spent a week in Paris.(我丈夫和我刚在巴黎待了一周)”说明了背景;下文“So the first thing we did was rent a fantastically expensive sixth-floor apartment the size of a cupboard.(所以我们做的第一件事就是租了一个非常昂贵公寓,在第六层,只有一个橱柜那么大)”是空格处的结果,因此空格处需要填原因;根据F项“Our aim was to see if we could live, in some way, like real Parisians.(我们的目标是看看我们是否在某种程度上可以活的像巴黎人。)”

37.上文“The place wasn’t entirely authentic, though.” C项“There was a nice kitchen and a comfortable bed.”
38.上文“... they eat great food and never gain weight.” 下文“French strawberries do not taste like cardboard. Instead, they explode in your mouth like little flavor bombs.” G项“The food is so delicious that you don’t need much of it to make you happy.”
下文“My husband and I agreed they were the best fruit we had ever eaten. But they cost $18!” E “That's not the only reason the French eat less than we do.”

40.根据上文“In France, quality of life is much more important than efficiency (效率). You can tell this by cafés life. French cafés are always crowded. 下文“When do these people work?(这些人什么时候工作?)” 故选A项。
