四、阅读理解
House fires happen somewhere in the world every day. They may hurt people. But you can help! Learn these tips to keep you and your family safe.
Set smoke alarms (报警器). Put a smoke alarm in your house and test it every month. Half of the house fire deaths happen between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. The risk of dying in a house fire is cut in half with working smoke alarms. They make a really loud sound when there’s smoke. Get out of the house when the alarm sounds.
Make escape (逃离) plans. Create a fire escape plan. This is the most important step in preventing fires. Pick a place outside to meet your family members. 77% of families don’t have a house fire escape plan to follow. Fire can spread through a house quickly. You may have as little as two minutes to escape safely. Be ready to act at once.
Don’t hide and go outside! When there’s a fire, the first thing to do is to get out of the house as fast as you can. Touch the door before you go. If the door feels hot, don’t open it. There might be a fire on the other side. Find another way out. Crawl (匍匐前进) on the floor if there is a lot of smoke. It is easier to breathe near the floor.
Get out and stay out. Never go back into a burning house. Go outside where it is safe and stay out once you are out. Don’t call 119 until you are safely outside. Always call 119 as soon as possible when you smell smoke or there is a fire.
26.How often should people test a smoke alarm at home?

五、任务型阅读
根据短文内容,回答下列问题。
On November 26, 2025, a terrible fire broke out in Hung Fuk Court, Hong Kong. The fire started from the outside of the buildings and spread very fast. Easy-to-burn materials made the fire get bigger quickly. This fire caused great losses. Many people were hurt, and some even lost their lives. Firefighters worked hard to put out the fire and save people. This unexpected event tells us that fire safety is very important for everyone.
To keep safe from fires, we should do well in daily prevention first. Don’t put easy-to-burn things like old clothes or paper boxes on balconies or stairs, as they can easily catch fire. Remember to turn off electrical tools such as phone chargers (充电器) and lights when you don’t use them.
If a fire really happens, stay calm and don’t panic. Cover your mouth and nose with a wet towel to keep smoke out, and use stairs instead of lifts because lifts may get stuck during a fire. If you can’t run away, go to a room with a window. First close the door tightly and fill gaps (缝隙) with wet cloth. Then wave bright clothes at the window to ask for help. Also, it’s necessary to remember the fire exit routes (路线) of your home or school and take fire drills seriously.
Fire safety is a life-saving skill that can help us protect ourselves and our families.
