The 15th National Games (全运会), with a slogan (口号) “Passion Unites Us, Dreams Shine Together”, took place in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao from November 9 to 21, 2025. It made history as the first National Games co-hosted by these three regions (地区), which not only showed the special charm of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (粤港澳大湾区) perfectly but also strengthened connections among people in the region. The event followed the idea of saving money. Most competition venues (场地) for this National Games are renovated (翻新的) old ones (about 90%), with only 5 new ones built. It has the fewest new venues. To hold a green event, it used a great deal of green electricity. Besides, smart technologies worked well for the Games. Driverless cars carried athletes and volunteers between venues, and service robots helped to guide, making the event more efficient.
The opening ceremony was held at the Guangzhou Olympic Sports Center on the evening of November 9. With the theme of “Realizing Dreams for the Future”, the ceremony combined Lingnan customs, Hong Kong’s modern style and Macao’s cultural characteristics, leaving a deep impression on the audience. The Games included 34 competitive sports events and 23 mass sports events covering all age groups, from children to the elderly. It didn’t publish gold medal rankings (排名). Instead, it paid more attention to getting the public to take part in sports. Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang Province in Northeast China, hosted the 9th Asian Winter Games from February 7th to 14th, 2025. This is the second time the city has held this event since 1996. 170 Chinese players competed in 64 events. Also, with the development of the events, the 9th Asian Winter Games included several new sports on the basis of the sports before.
Since the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, Chinese people’s love for winter sports has greatly grown. And that has made winter sports more and more popular across the country.
