Last term, some firefighters came to our school and talked to us about something important: Fire safety!
The firefighters told us all about how fires start and what we can do to stop them. They also told us the most important thing in the middle of a fire was to stay low to the ground and crawl (爬行) to the nearest door. Later they taught us how to use a fire extinguisher (灭火器) and call for help.
At the end of the visit, the firefighters gave us a test to see how much we learnt. Several weeks later, we had a fire drill (消防演习) at school. The alarm (警报) went off, and we had to leave our classroom quickly. At first, I felt a little nervous, but I remembered everything the firefighters taught us. I stayed low to the ground, crawled to the door and got outside. After the drill, our teacher told us that all the safety rules we learnt are there to protect us and that we must take them seriously.
Now, whenever I hear the sound of a fire alarm, instead of being nervous, I feel prepared. To me, fire safety is not just a school lesson for a young student. Instead, it’s a lifelong skill that will always keep me safe.

First Aid for Common Emergencies
First aid is the quick and careful help given to someone who is suddenly ill or hurt before a doctor can be found. Knowing basic first aid skills can save lives.
Choking
As we know, choking happens when something is stuck in a person’s throat. The Heimlich manoeuvre is a good way to help. But remember: do not use it on babies under one year old or pregnant women. For babies, lay them face down on your arm and give 5 quick back slaps between the shoulder blades.
Bleeding
If someone is bleeding, first put on gloves if you can. Then, use a clean cloth to press hard on the wound. Keep pressing for 5-10 minutes without lifting the cloth to check. If blood soaks through, add another cloth on top. Once the bleeding stops, wrap the wound with a bandage.
Burns
For small burns, hold the burnt area under cool running water for at least 10 minutes. Do not use ice, butter or cream on the burn—these can make it worse. Cover the burn with a clean, dry cloth. If the burn is large or deep, go to the hospital at once.
Fractures
If you think someone has broken a bone, do not move the injured part. Keep the person still and calm. Call for an ambulance right away. Moving a broken bone can cause more damage.
First aid skills are easy to learn but very important. Everyone should know some basic first aid to help others in need.
56.What is first aid?
A.The help given by a doctor. B.The quick help given before a doctor arrives.
C.The medicine to take when ill. D.The way to stay healthy.

A.1-2 minutes. B.3-5 minutes. C.5-10 minutes. D.10-15 minutes.
59.What should you NOT do for a small burn?
A.Hold it under cool water. B.Use ice on it.
C.Cover it with a clean cloth. D.Go to the hospital if it’s deep.
60.What is the main idea of the passage?

Recently, a new national rule for food delivery (配送) has come out. It has brought big changes to delivery riders’ work. This new rule has made their jobs much safer.
First, riders can’t take orders for more than 4 hours without stopping. When they reach this time limit, the delivery app will stop sending them new orders. The stop lasts for 20 minutes. This short break is very helpful. It helps riders have a short rest and drink some water. It helps riders avoid feeling too tired at work. Tired riding is very dangerous.
Second, there is a strict speed rule for their electric bikes. Riders must not ride faster than 15 kilometers an hour. This is a safe speed. Before this rule, some riders rode very fast. Someone even rode 25 kilometers an hour. This caused many traffic accidents every year. Riders got hurt. Other people sometimes got hurt too. Now, the speed rule keeps them safe from road dangers. Everyone on the road is safer.
Some people worry about the food delivery speed after the new rule, because they think their food might arrive later. But most people think safety is much more important than speed. It’s good for the riders.
As students, we should support this new rule. Our support is important. If our takeout is a little late next time, we should be patient. We should also be kind to the rider. Riders are working hard. They are also following the new safety rule. This rule not only protects riders, but also teaches us to care about other people.
61.What will happen after delivery riders keep working for 4 hours?
A.They will keep taking some new orders without having a rest.
B.They will have a break for 20 minutes without new orders.
C.They will have a very long break and drink some hot water.
D.They will get more and more orders during their break.
62.What is the speed limit for electric bikes according to the new rule?
A.4 kilometers per hour. B.20 kilometers per hour.
C.15 kilometers per hour. D.25 kilometers per hour.
63.According to the text, what do most people think about the new rule?
A.Food delivery will be much faster. B.It will lower (降低) delivery fees for customers.
C.Safety is more important than speed. D.The rule is not good for most riders.
64.What should students do if their takeout is a little late?
A.Give no support to the new rule. B.Be patient and kind to the rider.
C.Teach the riders to work hard. D.Call the delivery company.
65.What is the passage mainly about?
A.Students’ love for the takeout food. B.Some ways to order food faster.
C.Reasons for traffic accidents. D.New safety rules for delivery riders.
【答案】61.B 62.C 63.C 64.B 65.D

第二段明确指出骑手连续工作4小时后的规定:“When they reach this time limit, the delivery app will stop sending them new orders. The stop lasts for 20 minutes.”
62.第三段明确规定电动自行车限速:“Riders must not ride faster than 15 kilometers an hour.”
63.第四段说明大多数人的看法:“But most people think safety is much more important than speed.”
64.末段对学生的建议:“If our takeout is a little late next time, we should be patient. We should also be kind to the rider.”
65.全文围绕外卖配送新安全规则展开,从休息规定、限速要求到公众态度,首段点题“This new rule has made their jobs much safer.”
Jack is a middle school student. He loves 66 (listen) to music. He used to wear his headphones (耳机) while riding his bike to school. His mother often warned him not to do that, but Jack 67 (simple) turned a deaf ear.
One day, Jack was riding his bike to school 68 a pair of headphones on his head as usual. Soon, Jack 69 (come) to a crossroad. The music made 70 (he) so excited that he forgot to check if the traffic light was green and rode on. At this time, 71 car was coming towards him. After seeing Jack, the driver honked (鸣笛) to get him out of the way. 72 , Jack was enjoying the music and didn’t pay attention to the things around him. As a result, the car hit Jack before the driver could stop it.
The driver was very worried. He quickly got out of the car 73 (see) if (是否) Jack was OK. One of the wheels (轮子) of the car ran over Jack’s foot, but luckily he was not badly hurt. After Jack realised what had happened, he regretted not listening to his mother. Since then, Jack has become much 74 (careful) than before, and he has never used headphones on the road again.
When you are on the road, you should pay much attention to traffic 85 (light). Safety always comes first.
66.listening 67.simply 68.with 69.came 70.him 71.a 72.However 73.to see 74.more careful 75.lights
考查with的复合结构“with +宾语+介词短语”,此处“with a pair of headphones on his head”表示伴随状态,说明Jack骑车时的状态,符合语法和语境。故填with。
故填came。
作“made”的宾语,因此要用he的宾格形式him。故填him。
故填a。
上文“After seeing Jack, the driver honked to get him out of the way.”和下文“Jack was enjoying the music and didn’t pay attention to the things around him.” 故填However。
故填to see。
故填more careful。
