Do you often forget to drink water between classes? Try the new “Smart Cup”—a water bottle that talks to you! When it glows (发光) green, it means “Good job”. When it turns orange, it’s saying “Time to drink!” It even connects to your phone’s health app.
This smart cup acts like a mini teacher. Take a photo of your lunch, and it checks if you need more vegetables or protein (蛋白质). Want to eat ice cream? The bottle might say, “Try yogurt first”. Every Monday, the app shows the intake you drink, like “8 L this week”. Drink enough water for 5 days, and you can get a funny cartoon sticker (贴纸) in the app. Chen Kai, a 7th grader from Shanghai, says, “I even get free cookies with enough stickers.”
What’s cooler? It turns classmates into health partners. When someone’s cup turns orange, his classmates will say, “Drink up”. School nurse Dr. Chen says, “It’s like having a health teacher in your bag.” But Dr. Chen tells everyone, “Your cup can’t do sit-ups (仰卧起坐) for you! Play baseball or jog with friends every day.”
Teen Health magazine found 70% of Smart Cup users eat more fruits. “It’s like a game!” says Chen Kai, shaking his glowing bottle. “Now I even finish all the carrots in my lunchbox!”

Guillermo González Camarena, a Mexican inventor, was born in 1917. As a child, he loved building things. He made electric toys when he was young. By age 12, he had built a radio with spare parts. At 13, he began studying engineering.
He was interested in a new technology of his time: television. Television works by sending pictures and sound to a screen using electrical signals. The first moving images were sent to TVs in the 1920s. Few people had TVs then, but many knew TV would be an important way to learn about the world.
Early televisions had many limitations. They could only show black-and-white images, not color ones. Because of this, many inventors worked to solve these problems.
González Camarena was one of the first with a solution. In 1940, he made a “tri-chromatic” (three-color) device, which used three colors: red, blue, and green. When it was connected to a black-and-white TV, people could see color images.
The invention was a huge success. But the device was very expensive to make. He wanted everyone to have color TV, so he kept on working to make it cost less.
By the early 1960s, he invented a cheaper way to show color on TV. He called it the “Simplified Bi-color System (SBCS).” It cost much less to produce. Starting in 1965, many SBCS TVs were made and sold in Mexico.
González Camarena also believed that TV was important to educate children. His ideas helped create Mexico’s first educational TV network, “Telesecundaria,” which is still used today.
Guillermo González Camarena passed away on April 18, 1965. Today, he is remembered as one of Mexico’s greatest inventors.
31.Why did González Camarena invent a tri-chromatic device?
A.TVs were not perfect to send sound.
B.TVs didn’t help educate children then.
C.TVs were too expensive for people to own.
D.TVs could only show black-and-white images.
32.What does the underlined word “limitations” in paragraph 3 mean?
A.Special programs. B.Weak points.
C.Unclear images. D.Loud sounds.
33.What was González Camarena’s view on television?
A.It should help create TV network. B.Rich people should make it cheaper.
C.It should be widely used and educational. D.There was no need to improve its technology.
34.What do you think of González Camarena according to the passage?
A.A creative and caring inventor. B.A clever and friendly educator.
C.A grateful and curious inventor. D.A smart and successful educator.
35.Where can we probably find this article?
A.Great Inventors in History B.How Network Works
C.Television User Guide D.The History of Television

A Frenchman, Niepce, needed pictures for his business. But he was not a good artist. 36 He put it in a window of his house and took a picture of his garden. That was the first photo.
The next important date in the history of photography was in 1837. That year, Daguerre, another Frenchman, took a picture of his reading room. 37 In his picture, you could see everything very clearly, even the smallest thing.
In 1840, photography was developed once more. Then photographers could take pictures of people and moving things. 38 So it’s not easy to take pictures.
With the development of science and technology, a Chinese young man Wang Mengqiu, invented Hover Camera (无人相机). It can record people and things more wonderfully. He once studied at Stanford University in the United States. He became famous overnight because of the invention.
Hover Camera records movements with a 13MP camera and takes 4K videos. You can use a smartphone to control it. It can follow you, flying or staying in mid-air. 39 It is the best choice for weddings, sports games and holidays because Hover Camera is convenient for users to carry. It can be folded, so it can be put into a small bag. 40
In the future, cameras will be designed better and better. People can take more lively photos and videos.
A.He used a new kind of camera in a different way.
B.In this way, it can get the perfect pictures.
C.But the photographers had to carry many machines.
D.When the power is low, it can land safely.

Robots are getting into millions of homes, thanks to the hard work of scientists like Dr. Sun and his team. They’re developing robots to make our lives easier. One of the most popular robots is Spak, a cleaning robot. It can sweep floors, clean windows and tidy up rooms. Another is Cookie, a cooking robot. It knows hundreds of recipes. Just tell it what you want to eat, and it’ll prepare delicious meals for you.
Besides, Dr. Sun’s team also develops robots for nursing and education. Helper-bot, for example, can help with taking care of the sick, playing with kids and doing housework. Edu-bot can help children with homework, explain maths problems and read stories to make learning pleasant.
Looking to the future, Dr. Sun’s team is working on pet-care robots. “These robots will feed cats and walk dogs. They will become our family members.” Dr. Sun said with a smile. Although Dr. Sun worries about problems when using robots, he is quite positive about the future. “Problems are just part of making things better. Don’t be afraid of robots making mistakes. If a robot never has problems, we won’t make it much smarter. So let’s welcome robots into our homes. They’ll make our life comfortable and fun!” Dr. Sun said.
