It was a Friday evening. The living room lights were soft, but Mom sat at the desk with a frown (皱眉), looking at her computer. She worked as a designer, and this week she’d been worried about a big project—her design for a children’s park kept getting refused.
I walked over and saw crumpled (皱的) paper balls in the throw-away box. “Mom, do you want a cup of hot coffee?” I asked. She shook her head, not looking up. “Not right now, honey. I need to fix this design, or I’ll miss the deadline (截止日期).” Her voice sounded tired and worried.
I went back to my room, thinking. Mom used to tell me that looking at happy things helps when you’re in trouble. Then I had an idea. I pulled out an old photo album from the shelf—filled with pictures of Mom and me making cookies last Christmas, playing in the park last summer, even Mom holding me when I was little. I added small notes next to each photo, like “This day you laughed so hard that you cried.”
When I finished, I carried the album to Mom. “Mom, can you look at this for a minute?” I said softly. She sighed but turned off her computer. As she turned the pages, her frown slowly melted (融化).When she saw the note next to our cookie-making photo, she smiled. “I almost forgot how messy that day was,” she said.
She pulled me into a hug. “Thank you, sweetie. This is exactly what I needed.” Later, Mom turned on her computer again— but this time, her eyes were bright. Sometimes, I thought, the best way to help someone isn’t to fix their problem, but to remind them of all the happy things they already have.
19. Why was Mom worried on Friday evening?
A. She lost her old photo album. B. Her park design kept getting refused.
C. She forgot to make hot coffee. D. She missed the deadline for her work.
20. What did the writer do to help Mom?
A. She fixed Mom’s design for the park. B. She made Mom a cup of hot coffee.
C. She gave Mom an album with happy photos. D. She cleaned the crumpled paper balls.
21. What can we infer about Mom’s feelings when she saw the photo album?
A. She felt even more worried about the deadline.
B. She probably felt relaxed and happy remembering the past.
C. She was angry because the child interrupted her work.
D. She forgot all about the project immediately.
22. Why did the child add small notes to each photo?
A. To explain when each photo was taken.
B. To make the album look more beautiful.
C. To practice writing for school.
D. To remind Mom of specific happy moments they shared.

①Meet Sora, the cool model from OpenAI. It can turn your words into videos like magic! Just tell Sora your idea, and watch it make a video right before your eyes.
②There’s no doubt that Sora is amazing. Whether on a large TV or a small smartphone, Sora’s videos are always easy to watch and enjoy. Sora can also make scenes (场景) with lots of people doing different things with clear details. It also knows how things should look in real life.
③Why is it so good? Actually, Sora looks at many videos and learns from them by breaking them into very small bits (片段). It uses these bits to make a new video. The new video is gray at first and out of order—you can’t tell what’s in it. Then, Sora fixes the video until it looks good and smooth (流畅的). Besides, Sora also gets help from ChatGPT, which turns the user’s short sentences into clear orders. This helps Sora make the video just as you asked.
④________ Sora may find “busy” pictures hard to understand. For example, when a person moves, things around them change. In one video created by Sora, a grandma blows the candle on a birthday cake, but the fire doesn’t move. In another video made by Sora, a lady in a red dress is walking on a street. The reflection in the water on the ground changes when she walks. The people in the back move in the right way and the buildings change as she walks. The woman’s face looks real. However, when the video reaches 30 seconds, the woman’s right and left legs exchange places as she walks. Sora might have trouble knowing which way is “left” and which way is “right”, and this could make it hard for the lady to move legs correctly.
⑤Now, only a small group of people can use this text-to-video model. OpenAI wants to make Sora as clever as it can be before allowing everyone to use it. They want to be careful because Sora is a complicated (复杂的) AI model.
23. What is special about Sora?
A. It can help people draw better. B. It can make your eyes relaxed.
C. It can make words into videos. D. It can offer new ideas by itself.
24. According to Para. 3, how does Sora make a new video? Put the sentences in the right order.
a. Break videos into very small bits.
b. Fix the video until it looks good and nice.
c. Use the bits to make a gray and disordered video.
A. a-b-c. B. a-c-b. C. b-a-c. D. b-c-a.
25. Which of the following sentences can be put into “________” in Paragraph 4?
A. There is still a long way for Sora to be perfect.
B. It was difficult for Sora to understand users’ idea.
C. Take a look at how good the videos that Sora made are.
D. Sora has won the hearts of young people all over the world.
26. What’s the best title for the passage?
A. The Future of AI B. A Successful Company
C. An Amazing Video D. Making Videos with AI

①Did you know that architecture (建筑) can shape who we become? Architecture has a big influence on us. It can affect our character, mood, and health.
②Connecting nature with buildings is good for our bodies and minds. A study by Heidelberg University in Germany found that people who grew up in the countryside are less likely to have mental illnesses than those raised in cities. Vancouver, Canada, is a city surrounded (被围绕) by mountains and ocean. The city plans its buildings carefully so that tall ones don’t stop people’s view of the ocean and mountains.
③Architecture that has no soul (灵魂) can also influence our moods, according to The Guardian. For example, in a study that took place in Lower Manhattan, New York City, people’s moods got worse as they walked past the boring glass in front of a supermarket. They even started walking faster, as if they wanted to get away quickly. However, when they reached lively restaurants and shops, their moods improved a lot.
④To make architecture more interesting, designers should consider the height of ceilings. Studies showed that rooms with lower ceilings can make you more focused, while rooms with higher ceilings can make you more creative. Designers should also avoid too many flat and straight designs because flat and straight designs don’t allow light and shadow to create interesting patterns. They also don’t fit well with nature, making buildings seem boring. To add life to architecture, designers should pick colors carefully to create different moods, according to Forbes. Vibrant colors like yellow and orange can make people feel energetic and happy, while calm colors like blue and green can help people feel relaxed.
⑤In short, architecture matters a lot. We should have buildings that connect with nature, have good designs and use nice colors to make us feel good.
27. Which is TRUE about people growing up in the countryside?
A. They have a lower risk of mental illnesses. B. They are more likely to have better creativity.
C. They are more focused on their work. D. They walk faster in front of supermarkets.
28. What can we learn from the study in Lower Manhattan?
A. People in boring streets walk faster to save time.
B. Interesting store designs can slow people down and improve mood.
C. Supermarkets in New York have the most creative architecture.
D. Lower ceilings make people feel more focused on shopping.
29. What’s the meaning of the underlined word “vibrant” in paragraph④?
A. calm and peaceful B. bright and energetic
C. dark and serious D. simple and natural
30. Which of the following shows the structure of the passage?
A. B. C. D.

B 20. C 21. B 22. D

C
C 24. B 25. A 26. D

根据第三段“Actually, Sora looks at many videos and learns from them by breaking them into very small bits (片段). It uses these bits to make a new video. The new video is gray at first and out of order—you can’t tell what’s in it. Then, Sora fixes the video until it looks good and smooth (流畅的) .”
第四段主要列举了Sora在处理复杂画面时出现的错误(如蜡烛火苗不动“but the fire doesn’t move”、人物腿部交换“However…the woman’s right and left legs exchange places as she walks”等),说明该技术尚存在不足。
D
A. B. C. D.
A 28. B 29. B 30. C

文章第三段指出“when they reached lively restaurants and shops, their moods improved a lot”,直接说明有趣的商店设计可以改善人们的情绪。
文章第四段指出“Vibrant colors like yellow and orange can make people feel energetic and happy”,黄色和橙色是明亮且充满活力的颜色,由此推断“vibrant”意为“明亮而有活力的”。

根据后半句的转折“but the thought of being laughed at for being a boy cheerleader”可知,由于极度担心自己作为男生啦啦队员会被人嘲笑,作者在练习时必然是非常低调和隐秘的,应选用secretly表示“暗自地,秘密地”。
根据后文“The more I thought about it, the more…I felt”可知,他一想到别人对他的看法,内心的紧张感就成倍增加,甚至到了无法理智设想的地步,应选用imagine表示“想象”。
根据前文的极度担心以及“The more…, the more…”
根据后文好朋友Minnie按下按钮的情节“Before I could say anything, she had pushed the ‘stop requested’ button.”
根据前文Minnie质问他为什么没有去参加选拔,而作者脸红并找借口说身体不舒服、作业多“my face turned red…I don’t feel well…I have a lot of homework”可知,Minnie一眼就看穿了作者在说谎,固定搭配“tell the truth”表示“说实话,说真话”,所以选择truth。
据第一段作者提到“I’d looked forward to joining our school’s cheer leading squad for long”以及上文的暗自练习可知,Minnie非常清楚作者内心对啦啦队是一直向往和热爱的,应选用love表示“热爱,爱”。
根据前文“she had pushed the ‘stop requested’ button. Then the bus driver stopped”以及作者正身处公交车上的背景可知,车停后他不得不“下车”,固定搭配“get off”表示“下车”,应选用过去式形式got off。got on“上车”,got down“下来”,got up“起床”,均不符合下车的语境。
Unless“除非”,Before“在……
根据空后的“it”指代“cheerleading”以及前文“I’ve had so many doors open for me because of it”可知,作者是因为啦啦队这一途径/方式而结识了许多优秀的人,固定搭配“through it”表示“通过它/借由它”,所以选择through。before“在……之前”,over“在……上方”,in“在……
