七、阅读理解
How to Create a Display Board About an Invention
A display board is a great way to present information about an invention. It should be clear, organized, and visually attractive. Here are some tips to help you create a successful display board.
First, choose an invention that interests you. It could be a historical invention like the printing press, or a modern one like the smartphone. Do some research to learn about its inventor, its importance, and how it works. Use books, the internet, or even interviews with experts to gather information.
Second, organize your information into sections. A good structure includes: the problem that needed to be solved, the inventor and their background, the materials used to make the invention, how the invention works, and its impact on the world. This will help your audience understand the invention easily.
Third, use visuals. Pictures, diagrams, and timelines can make your display board more interesting and easier to understand. For example, you can include a picture of the inventor, a diagram of how the invention works, or a timeline of key events.
Fourth, keep your text clear and concise. Don't write too much. Use bullet points or short sentences to highlight key information. Make sure the font size is large enough to read from a distance.
Finally, practice your presentation. Be ready to explain your display board and answer questions from your audience. A good display board combined with a confident presentation will make your work stand out.

Our group chose the light bulb for our display board. Thomas Edison invented it in 1879, and it changed the world by giving people light at any time. Before the light bulb, people had to use candles or oil lamps, which were dangerous and dim. On our display board, we included a section about the problem, Edison's background, and how the light bulb works. We also added pictures of Edison and the first light bulb. We made the board out of colourful cardboard and used a timeline to show key events. Once you look at our board, you can easily understand the invention's importance. The light bulb is an amazing invention because it made life safer and more productive. I think it is one of the most important inventions in history.
