Queen’s Park It maintains seasonal opening hours — 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. from April to September and 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from October to March — and features a large hill that offers sweeping views of the whole city, atop which there is an old stone tower that visitors can climb free of charge. In the UK, over-55s are fast becoming the second largest group on a popular social media platform. Sheila, a 59-year-old grandmother, tells why she started to use a social media app: “I can’t wait to see what my grandsons are doing, as my daughter shares videos and photos of them. It is a much better way to keep in touch than waiting for letters to arrive by post.” For Sheila, the digital world has also helped her reconnect with old school friends she had not heard from for forty years. Interestingly, Sheila’s grandchildren are far less active on the same app. Data shows that children under 17 are leaving the site, with only 2.2 million users in this age group. However, these young people are never far from their phones. Chloe, aged 15, sleeps with her phone beside her, looking at it again and again before falling asleep and as soon as she wakes up. Unlike their grandparents, teenagers today spend so much time on their phones that they miss out on real-life time with their friends. Teenagers may have their parents to thank for their pattern, since those parents were among the first to own smartphones. Peter, 38, recalls being glued to his own screens not long ago. “I was always checking emails, always feeling I was still at work. How could I tell my kids to get off their phones if I couldn’t do it myself?” He has since made a change: on evenings and weekends, he moves his SIM card into a basic phone that only makes calls and sends texts. “I am now more present with my children,” he says. Will the people older and younger than Peter soon also try to live with less technology? It may well be just a matter of time. 24.(0分)Why did Sheila begin to use a social app? A.To keep track of grandsons. B.To receive timely letters. C.To connect with old friends. D.To improve her digital skills. 25.How does the author mainly develop paragraph 3? A.By quoting an expert. B.By describing an idea. C.By giving an example. D.By presenting a fact. 26.What can be inferred about Peter? A.He prefers basic phones now. B.He values leading by example. C.He had his own phone as a teen. D.He now gives kids more presents. 27.What is the function of the final paragraph? A.Get readers to consider the issue. B.Summarize the key points discussed. C.Offer a solution to phone addiction. D.Introduce a new topic for future study. Oysters are enjoyed as delicious dishes around the world. More than that, they are also “ecosystem engineers”. Facing a falling local oyster population, a group in New York began its “Billion Oyster Project (BOP)” to bring back this natural resource, with this year marking its 10th anniversary, reported the BBC. Oysters help clean the water by removing pollutants like nitrogen (氮), which can cause too much algae (藻类) to grow. Oysters’ ability to make things pass through can help the whole ecosystem, Carrie Roble, a scientist, told the BBC. As young oysters come together on shells and grow up over generations, they form reefs (礁石) that provide homes for hundreds of species, creating a lively city for sea plants and animals. Oyster reefs also protect shores by acting like natural walls, making big waves smaller and reducing flooding and erosion (侵蚀). To help bring back oyster reefs, the BOP project places oyster babies into rivers in metal cages filled with empty shells and man-made reef balls, using donated shells from restaurants as key materials. These shells offer the necessary hard surface and calcium carbonate (碳酸钙) for young oysters to “feel at home” and finally create an oyster reef. Thanks to these efforts, more than 140 million oysters have been brought back over the past 10 years in the New York City Harbor. The waterways around New York are now the cleanest they’ve been in over 100 years, according to BOP. However, when counting oysters, it’s difficult to tell if they float there or are brought back. Baby oysters float for two weeks before finding a hard surface to call home, requiring extra lab work to check where they came from. What’s more, silt (淤泥) from erosion makes growing oysters more difficult by covering the places they grow on. Fertilizer (化肥) use also leads to too much algae, which reduces oxygen levels. Other than New York, there are also many similar projects in various countries and regions like Bangladesh, Australia and China’s Hong Kong SAR. Each project has its unique focus, including erosion, storms and water quality. As for BOP, the group is on track to meet its 1-billion oyster goal by 2035, reported Science Line. 28.(0分)How can oysters help the whole ecosystem according to Carrie Roble? A.By removing micro-plastics from water. B.By entirely stopping algae from growing. C.By getting rid of pollutants such as nitrogen. D.By offering calcium carbonate to oyster reefs. 29.What writing technique is mainly employed to describe oyster reefs in paragraphs 2-3? A.Personification. B.Exaggeration. C.Classification. D.Definition. 30.What challenge does the BOP project face? A.It’s difficult to count oysters thoroughly. B.There aren’t enough donated shells. C.Silt covers the growth places of oysters. D.Fertilizer use makes oysters grow fast. 31.Which of the following is the best title for the text? A.Delicious dishes around the world. B.The importance of marine ecosystem. C.Achievements of recovering reefs. D.Oysters’ journey to restore ecosystem. Many artists worry that artificial intelligence may interfere with artistic creation. But Sougwen Chung, a Canadian-Chinese artist, instead sees AI as an opportunity for artists to embrace uncertainty and challenge people to think about technology and creativity in unexpected ways. Chung’s art exhibitions are driven by technology. The artwork , she says, emerges not just in the finished piece but in all the messy in-betweens. “My goal,” she explains, “isn’t to replace traditional methods but to deepen and expand them, allowing art to arise from a genuine meeting of human and machine perspectives.” Such a meeting took place in January 2025 in Switzerland, where Chung presented Spectral, a performative art installation featuring painting by robotic arms whose motions are guided by AI that combines data from earlier works with real-time input from an electroencephalogram (脑电图). “My alpha state drives the robot’s behavior, translating an internal experience into tangible gestures,” says Chung. The goal was simple: As the artist drew, the arm copied. Except it didn’t work out that way.The arm made unexpected movements, creating sketches that were similar to Chung’s — but not identical. These“mistakes” became part of the creative process. “One of the most transformative lessons I’ve learned is to ‘poeticize error,’” Chung says. “I trust that the failures themselves can be generative.” Zihao Zhang, an architect at the City College of New York, sees Chung’s work as offering a different story about human-machine interactions. “We’re still kind of trapped in this idea of AI versus human, and which one’s better,” he says. AI is often characterized in the media as something that can supplant our workers. He believes works like Chung’s challenge the idea of either-or. Chung believes that “artificial” intelligence still relies on human data, shaped by human biases, and it impacts human experiences in turn. She says, “These technologies don’t emerge in a vacuum — there’s real human effort. For me, art remains a space to explore and affirm human agency.” 32.(0分)What reflects Chung’s art philosophy? A.Keeping art free from technology. B.Letting art grow from unpredictability. C.Aiming for perfectly finished artworks. D.Relying on conventional craftsmanship. 33.What is Spectral presented as in the text? A.A tightly controlled art project. B.A combination of different art forms. C.A painting made without human input. D.A live artwork taking shape in performance. 34.What does the underlined word “supplant” in Paragraph 5 probably mean? A.Replace. B.Discourage. C.Assist. D.Satisfy. 35.What is the purpose of the text? A.To introduce robot-made artworks. B.To examine concerns about AI in art. C.To explore an artist’s creative use of AI. D.To promote an exhibition by a rising artist. Severe floods are becoming more and more common around the world. 36(0分) , but could the way that cities are growing be making things worse? Could we design cities in a different way to reduce the risk of flooding? As cities expand and more and more land is underneath concrete, less water is absorbed and more needs to be channelled away by storm drains and sewage (污水) systems. As they become overwhelmed by the volume of water, the risk of flash flooding increases. 37 ? Chinese landscape architect Yu Kongjian certainly thinks so. In 2013, he proposed the concept of ‘sponge (海绵) cities’, which are designed to absorb water like a sponge, reducing the risk of sudden floods. Natural solutions are encouraged, using riverside parks and ponds to absorb floodwater. 38 . Auckland, in New Zealand, was named the spongiest city in one study. It has replaced the concrete culverts (涵洞) around the Oakley creek stream with green banks and connected parks. This has reduced flooding in the nearby residential areas as well as the number of associated pollutants which used to be washed into the sea. What Auckland has taken is only a natural approach. 39 . In Amsterdam, the Netherlands’ capital city, people have fixed blue-green roofs on a number of buildings. These roofs have a layer of plants on the outside, and then layers underneath which collect and store rainwater. This water can be used by people in the building below to water plants or clean toilets. Advanced software can even tell the roofs to release water ahead of upcoming storms to maximize the system’s ability to absorb rainwater. 40 . A.A system like that does actually work B.The warming climate is leading to heavier rainfall C.Could it be that we’ve been taking the wrong approach D.But a much more high-tech method has already been applied E.Approaches inspired by this have been taken by cities across the world F.Is the natural approach sufficient when we’re faced with increased rainfall G.It can even identify the city’s risky areas and tailor the response accordingly Growing up in a village in southern Nigeria, Lauritta Onye was sure she was going to be a star some day. His family had a lot of money, and whenever he liked something, they would buy it for him. In reality, then, he had no idea what things cost, and wouldn’t bother to take care of what he had. Nor did he realize how difficult it was for other children to get toys like the ones he had. A time came, though, when he was so used to all his toys that he began to want something different. One of his uncles found a fine horse and he gave it to Charlie, as something unusual. Charlie was very excited at having a horse. He learned to ride, and was constantly on his horse, going here and there. However, he treated the horse just as badly as he treated all his other toys, and it soon started looking sick. For the first time in his life Charlie became truly worried. He loved the horse, and the fact that his family had offered to buy him a new one meant nothing to him. One day, while in the countryside, he saw a little girl with a horse. The girl looked very poor, but the horse seemed happy and looked great. Wondering how she had managed this, Charlie secretly followed them, watching everything they did. First he followed them through the forest, where he saw that she never used the stick and never hit the horse. This was the opposite of what Charlie had done to his horse. Then they came to the stable (马厩), and as soon as they arrived the girl fed and watered the horse. Then she carefully cleaned it. Charlie was surprised. He’d never done any of those things for his horse. He saw that the girl spent a lot of time giving care and attention to her horse, and that she did it all on her own. This had never entered Charlie’s mind; he had always been too busy playing and having fun to look after the horse.Paragraph 1: Charlie wanted to change and become like the girl. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: As a result, Charlie gave up constantly asking for new toys. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 试卷第1页,共3页 试卷第1页,共3页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 2 / 2 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 高中英语单元测试——Unit 3 Fascinating Parks(较难版02)(解析版) 学校:___________姓名:___________班级:___________考号:___________ 一、听力选择题 1.(本题1.5分)How long is the park open on Saturdays? M: Well, in that case we could go to the new movie by my favorite director. I really like his work which will stop showing the day after tomorrow. W: Oh, we go to the movies too much. Can’t we do something different for a change, honey? M: Well, do you have any suggestions? W: Let me see. How do you feel about asking some friends over to play cards? M: It’s okay with me. We don’t have some beer or anything to eat at home. W: Well, let’s call Juliet and ask her and her neighbor David to come over. I’ll go to the store and buy some food and drinks. M: Okay, that’s a good idea. 18.(1.5分)What inspired the discoverer to name the place Las Tortugas? A.The dry conditions. B.Many sea turtles. Now I'd like to tell you about the dry Tortugas national park. The park is situated in the gulf of Mexico. Juan Pon Stallone discovered the dry Torigas in the summer of 1513 and named the place Las Toreas for large numbers of sea turtles he'd caught while visiting later. The area was called the dry Tortugas for lack of fresh water available on the island. In 1992 the dry Tortigas was established as a national park. More than 80,000 people a year come to see and explore this place and all of its eco wonders. Visitors spend the day just enjoying the scenic beauty and the white Sandy beaches. For those who love to go camping overnight, weekend and longer term arrangements are available, the dry Tortugas national park is also known for its extraordinary bird watching opportunities. Whether you loved fish hike or just soak in the sun, the dry tortugas national park isn't out of the ordinary adventure for people of all ages. If you want to visit the park, please call us at 3052427700. We can arrange a trip there for you. 二、阅读理解 (本题7.5分)Positioned in diverse districts of Glasgow, these parks stand as essential green spots. 根据第二段中的“I can’t wait to see what my grandsons are doing, as my daughter shares videos and photos of them.(我迫不及待想看看孙辈们的日常,我的女儿会在上面分享他们的视频和照片)”可知,Sheila使用软件是为了解孙辈的近况。 25. 根据第三段“Interestingly, Sheila’s grandchildren are far less active on the same app. Data shows that children under 17 are leaving the site, with only 2.2 million users in this age group. However, these young people are never far from their phones. Chloe, aged 15, sleeps with her phone beside her, looking at it again and again before falling asleep and as soon as she wakes up. Unlike their grandparents, teenagers today spend so much time on their phones that they miss out on real-life time with their friends.(有趣的是,希拉的孙辈们在同一款应用上的活跃度要低得多。 根据第四段中的““I was always checking emails, always feeling I was still at work. How could I tell my kids to get off their phones if I couldn’t do it myself?” He has since made a change: on evenings and weekends, he moves his SIM card into a basic phone that only makes calls and sends texts. “I am now more present with my children,” he says.(“我一直都在查邮件,总觉得自己还在工作。我自己都放不下手机,又怎么能要求孩子少玩手机?” 从那以后他做出了改变:每到晚上和周末,他就把手机卡换到一部只能接打电话、收发短信的功能机里。他表示:“现在我能更专心地陪伴孩子们了。”)”可推知,Peter认为家长应当以身作则。 27.推理判断题。根据末段“Will the people older and younger than Peter soon also try to live with less technology? It may well be just a matter of time.(比彼得年长或年幼的人未来是否也会尝试减少科技产品的使用?这或许只是时间问题)”可知,本段抛出问题引发读者思考该现象。 Oysters are enjoyed as delicious dishes around the world. 根据第一段中的“Oysters help clean the water by removing pollutants like nitrogen (氮), which can cause too much algae (藻类) to grow. Oysters’ ability to make things pass through can help the whole ecosystem, Carrie Roble, a scientist, told the BBC. (科学家嘉莉·罗布尔告诉英国广播公司,牡蛎通过去除氮等污染物来净化水质,这些污染物会导致藻类过度生长。牡蛎的过滤能力有助于整个生态系统。)”可知,牡蛎通过去除氮等污染物帮助整个生态系统。故选C项。 29.推理判断题。根据第二段中的“As young oysters come together on shells and grow up over generations, they form reefs (礁石) that provide homes for hundreds of species, creating a lively city for sea plants and animals. Oyster reefs also protect shores by acting like natural walls, making big waves smaller and reducing flooding and erosion (侵蚀). (当小牡蛎在贝壳上聚集并世代生长时,它们形成礁石,为数百种物种提供家园,为海洋动植物创造一座生机勃勃的城市。牡蛎礁还像天然屏障一样保护海岸,减弱大浪,减少洪水和侵蚀。)”可知,作者将牡蛎礁赋予城市、屏障等拟人化特征,运用了拟人手法。故选A项。 30. 根据第六段中的“What’s more, silt (淤泥) from erosion makes growing oysters more difficult by covering the places they grow on.(此外,侵蚀带来的淤泥覆盖了牡蛎的生长地,使牡蛎生长更加困难。)” 根据第一段中的“Facing a falling local oyster population, a group in New York began its “Billion Oyster Project (BOP)” to bring back this natural resource, with this year marking its 10th anniversary, reported the BBC. (据英国广播公司报道,面对当地牡蛎数量不断下降的情况,纽约一个组织发起了“十亿牡蛎项目”,以期恢复这一自然资源,今年恰逢该项目启动十周年。)”以及全文围绕牡蛎修复生态系统展开的内容可知,全文始终围绕牡蛎展开,核心内容是借助牡蛎修复海洋生态系统的全过程,因此“牡蛎修复生态系统之旅”最能概括全文主旨,适合作为标题。故选D项。 Many artists worry that artificial intelligence may interfere with artistic creation. 根据第一段中“Many artists worry that artificial intelligence may interfere with artistic creation. But Sougwen Chung, a Canadian-Chinese artist, instead sees AI as an opportunity for artists to embrace uncertainty and challenge people to think about technology and creativity in unexpected ways. (许多艺术家担心人工智能可能会干扰艺术创作。但加拿大华裔艺术家钟素文却认为,人工智能为艺术家提供了一个拥抱不确定性、促使人们以意想不到的方式思考技术与创造力的机会。)”可知,她的艺术理念是让艺术在不可预测中自然生成。 33.细节理解题。根据第三段中“Such a meeting took place in January 2025 in Switzerland, where Chung presented Spectral, a performative art installation featuring painting by robotic arms whose motions are guided by AI that combines data from earlier works with real-time input from an electroencephalogram (脑电图). (2025 年 1 月,在瑞士举行了一场这样的会议,在会上,钟展示了Spectral这一表演性艺术装置,该装置包含由机器人手臂完成的绘画作品,其动作由人工智能控制,该人工智能会将之前作品的数据与来自脑电图的实时输入相结合。)”可知,这是在现场表演中成型的艺术作品。 34.词句猜测题。根据第五段中““We’re still kind of trapped in this idea of AI versus human, and which one’s better,” he says. AI is often characterized in the media as something that can supplant our workers.(他说:“我们仍局限在人工智能与人类对立、非要分出高下的固有思维里。”媒体常将人工智能刻画成supplant人类劳动者的存在。)”可知,媒体常把AI描述成取代人类工作的事物,supplant意为“取代”,与replace同义。 35.推理判断题。全文围绕华裔艺术家钟素文如何利用人工智能进行艺术创作、表达人机共创理念展开,意在探讨这位艺术家对AI的创意运用。 Severe floods are becoming more and more common around the world. 40 . A.A system like that does actually work B.The warming climate is leading to heavier rainfall C.Could it be that we’ve been taking the wrong approach D.But a much more high-tech method has already been applied E.Approaches inspired by this have been taken by cities across the world F.Is the natural approach sufficient when we’re faced with increased rainfall G.It can even identify the city’s risky areas and tailor the response accordingly 【答案】36.B 37.C 38.E 39.D 40.G 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。 由上文“Severe floods are becoming more and more common around the world.(全球范围内,严重洪水越来越常见。)” B选项“The warming climate is leading to heavier rainfall(气候变暖导致降雨量增加)”解释了洪水频发的一个原因能承接上文,符合题意。故选B。 37.由下文“Chinese landscape architect Yu Kongjian certainly thinks so. In 2013, he proposed the concept of ‘sponge (海绵) cities’, which are designed to absorb water-like a sponge-reducing the risk of sudden floods.(中国景观建筑师俞孔坚对此深信不疑。2013年,他提出了“海绵城市”的概念,旨在像海绵一样吸收水分,降低突发洪水的风险。)”可知,本空应询问是否有可能因为某种错误的方法或观念导致洪水问题加剧。C选项“Could it be that we’ve been taking the wrong approach(会不会是我们一直采取的方法是错误的)”引出了下文对城市设计新思路的讨论,符合题意且为一般疑问句。故选C。 38.由上文“Natural solutions are encouraged, using riverside parks and ponds to absorb floodwater. (鼓励采用自然解决方案,利用河边公园和池塘来吸收洪水。)”及下文“Auckland, in New Zealand, was named the spongiest city in one study.(在新西兰的一项研究中,奥克兰被评为最“海绵”的城市。)” E选项“Approaches inspired by this have been taken by cities across the world(受此启发,全球各地的城市都采取了类似的措施)”概括了全球城市对海绵城市概念的实践,符合题意。故选E。 39.由上文“What Auckland has taken is only a natural approach. (奥克兰所采取的只是一种自然方法。)”及下文“In Amsterdam, the Netherlands’ capital city, people have fixed blue-green roofs on a number of buildings. (在荷兰首都阿姆斯特丹,人们在许多建筑物上安装了蓝绿色屋顶。)”可知,本空应转折强调存在一种更高科技的方法已被应用。D选项“But a much more high-tech method has already been applied(但是一种更高级的高科技方法已经被应用)”能承接上文,并引出了下文对阿姆斯特丹高科技方法的介绍,符合题意。故选D。 40.由上文“Advanced software can even tell the roofs to release water ahead of upcoming storms to maximize the system’s ability to absorb rainwater.(先进的软件甚至可以告诉屋顶在即将到来的暴风雨前释放水分,以最大化系统吸收雨水的能力。)” G选项“It can even identify the city’s risky areas and tailor the response accordingly.(它甚至可以识别城市的危险区域,并相应地调整应对措施。)中的“it”指代前文的“advanced software”,延续了对系统功能的介绍,符合题意。故选G。 三、完形填空 Growing up in a village in southern Nigeria, Lauritta Onye was sure she was going to be a star some day. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Paragraph 1: Charlie wanted to change and become like the girl. With the girl’s help he learned how to put care and attention into things, and that if you did so you would enjoy them much more. He learned that you could be much happier with only a few special things that you truly took care of than with thousands of toys that were only good for a short time and were then thrown aside. Charlie also learned that the care put into these things was sometimes difficult, but that all the efforts would be worthwhile.Paragraph 2: As a result, Charlie gave up constantly asking for new toys. He gave the girl many of his own toys, and more to other children in the village. He only kept those few toys he really liked. And, just as he had learned from the girl, he set himself to repair and care for those toys, so he could really enjoy playing with them. 词汇激活 行为类 ①照顾:take care of/look after ②放弃:give up/abandon ③修理:repair/fix 情绪类 ①高兴:happier/more delighted 【点睛】[高分句型1].
